I agree with you, Walt misinterpreted a lot of things. He's very intelligent but not that smart sometimes, especially with social skills. This would've prevented so much deaths if he was able to shut up and indeed take "yes" as an answer.
@guilhermehank4938Ай бұрын
The more you watch BB, the more you see how contrived Walt's constant survival is
@theformuoli6397Ай бұрын
It’s still a lack of social skills, but I took this more as Walt clearly understanding that what he’s saying isn’t working. But his ego refuses to take no for an answer and thinks the next words out of his mouth will change it. Because he thinks he’s smarter than him and manipulatable. Still tone deaf to the situation, but it’s more nuanced. Mostly based off small looks/not letting the other person speak much

This right here showed Walt’s ego was going out of control-to think he could turn Mike of all people against Gus? If Mike wanted to kill Gus he could have done it himself. And to so seriously underestimate Mike-a man who lived by a code which included loyalty-he makes an offer like that? That is beyond insulting. Even worse, Walt isn’t reading the room-because Mike tries to end the whole thing more than once before Walt says too much, and he just runs right through the red lights anyway. And if Gus hadn’t needed him alive, Walt would have been dead. That’s ego-to think you’re so smooth that you can play a man like Mike Ehrmantraut the same way you play a troubled kid like Jesse. Serious hubris. And it got almost what it totally called for, because treachery like that usually gets a bullet. Walt was lucky it was only an ass kicking
@memestrous24 күн бұрын
Walt talked too much but at the end of the day, he killed Gus, he killed Mike, he killed Uncle Jack's crew and Lydia, he build the greatest meth empire of all time, and he died to his own bullet. You could say whatever about his ego, pride, etc. but all those things allowed him to die doing what he loved. He always got dealt the bad hand in life. Lost his company, his life's work, got paid less than minimum, got disrespected by his family, even his son didn't respect him, got disrespected by Hank on his birthday, and to add salt on wounds, got terminal lung cancer. If I was walter I would have done EXACTLY the same things as he did. Yeah he lost his family and a part of himself un the process, but it no longer mattered to him. The same family (which he sacrificied a lot for btw) that disrespected him, cheated on him, and hated him up UNTIL he got money and felt good about himself? Why wouldn't you want to lose them? All this morality, "knowing your place", being "humble" and accepting things wouldn't have taken him anywhere in life. You people see it through the outside perspective, but imagine you were Walter. Would you just accept being constantly put down? The show is a realistic portrayal of what happens when society keeps egging on a broken man. He ends up breaking bad. Walter is like the Joker. Different motives but same message. And he, for the first time in his life, had everything. Self-respect, respect from other, respect from his family, pride, money. Do you think he would have had any of those things had he not done what he did? Maybe he would have had money from the guys who got successful on HIS work, but for what? What's the point? He knew his death was coming, and he did what others would have been too afraid to do.

@@memestrousexcept Walt is literally the cause of what happened in the story. everything with Grey Matter happened because Walt was jealous that Gretchen's family was rich which therefore wouldn't make him the provider of the family. he threw away everything regarding Grey Matter to Gretchen and Elliot which resulted in them obviously being the ones that take credit because it was now LEGALLY their work. he got cheated on by Skyler BECAUSE Walt was becoming a monster and putting the family in danger because of Walt's obsession with becoming the big macho drug dealer. He is the reason that any of this happened in the first place. its like Mike said "all of this falling apart is on YOU". i don't know where you got that this was the equivalent of the Joker considering the story literally spells it out for you that he ruined everyone's life because of his actions and made Walt into a full on monster by his final season, getting Hank killed, getting Jesse enslaved, having Holly threatened at gunpoint by neo-na*is (all of that happening because of him btw). this story isn't just "sOcIeTy BaD" it's a deconstruction of toxic masculinity, something VINCE GILLIGAN HIMSELF has said. Yes you can like and even feel for Walt but Walt's ego and ambition is what ultimately caused the events of the story.
