From Season 4, Episode 05: "Shotgun"
Breaking Bad follows protagonist Walter White (Bryan Cranston), a chemistry teacher who lives in New Mexico with his wife (Anna Gunn) and teenage son (RJ Mitte) who has cerebral palsy. White is diagnosed with Stage III cancer and given a prognosis of two years left to live. With a new sense of fearlessness based on his medical prognosis, and a desire to secure his family's financial security, White chooses to enter a dangerous world of drugs and crime and ascends to power in the world. The series explores how a fatal diagnosis such as White's releases a typical man from the daily concerns and constraints of normal society and follows his transformation from mild family man to a kingpin of the drug trade.

"Cancer Man/CGB Spender" was meant to be a background character in one single episode of the X-Files - He ended up a main character and was there until damn near the end. The guy who played him, played him as a "good guy" in his mind...as far as his character was concerned, he was securing humanities future in a hostile Galaxy where we were viewed as cavemen by other advanced races.

Walt should have stayed where he was, he would have died from cancer, comfortably surrounded by family, with Gus having a new cook who was loyal and quite reliable. Instead Walt decides he wants more. And not even for the money but for the power. And that ends up destroying almost everything.

Nah Mike actually did see Jesse as useful. Gus even started to respect him from seeing his work with Mike, the way he handled the cartel cooks and even at Don eladio's. Without Walt fucking it up it was very possible Jesse would have been molded into a solid loyal employee for gus and Mike. And if he ever felt the urge Gus would be the perfect motivator to stay clean and sober.

@@zen4ever3 Nope. Walt and Gus's relationship turned sour when Walt ran over two drug dealers who were seconds away from murdering Jesse. From that moment on, Gus went to work plotting to eliminate his need for Walter so he could kill him. If Walter hadn't killed Gus, Gus would have eventually killed him. It wasn't about Walt's ego at all. How Mike and the audience could possibly remember it that way, I do not know.
@genericwhitemale9566
@genericwhitemale9566 9 күн бұрын
@@jefferycrouse4652I'll die on the hill that the whole Gus thing wasn't really Walter's fault. It was mostly down to Jesse. The relationship between Walt and Gus soured because Walt wanted to stop Jesse from getting himself killed. Then Walt was basically left with no choice but to eliminate Gus because Gus wanted him gone for defying him. "Jesse was happy tho!" at the cost of Walter and his whole family potentially being murdered by Gus. "He could've stayed working with Gale but his ego wouldn't allow it!" If he kept Gale, Jesse would've sued Hank for all he was worth and if caught by the DEA, would've given up Walter immediately. Basically, the only way you could really blame Walt for this scenario is by saying that if he saved Jane, her and Jesse would've either OD'd or moved away allowing Walt to work with Gus without any issues.
