Beautiful in its own sense. The take down and assembly is unique. Not boring at all. Challenging is a stretch, but still something different which is needed.

Now if you know what can be done for the creeping and grittiness of the trigger, that would really be great. I broke it down and oiled every moving part and still the trigger is awful. I can slowly press the trigger and the creep goes in increments. It can slip and pause at the next resistance point 10 times before the trigger drops the hammer. Shame on Walther for this. The two videos I watched that convinced me to go with the CCP 380 both commented on the trigger but I never thought it was this bad. @@GBGuns

I have the M1 CCP in 9mm. I bought it used and aside from normal wear, it runs well. And is very accurate. Couple of things, it insists on 124 grain, 115 won’t extract. Also about 50-75 rounds in, the gun gets very warm so probably not a torture test candidate. The ergonomics are great and it fits in my hand about as well as any pistol. It’s a little on the big side for just carrying 8 rounds but it has such a good feel and accuracy to it, along with little recoil (piston system does its job) I really enjoy it and like carrying it. I also bought the CCP M2 in .380. It has even less recoil, same accuracy and ergonomics as the M1 in 9mm. Field stripping can be a little bit of work on each for different reasons but I enjoy working in both. Am a big fan of this niche pistol. I know its quirkiness is not for everyone.

I have the original CCP, I must admit at first the take down system used was maddening! Until I watched a fella take it down one handed! And I finally figured it out. Now it’s easy peasy! To put it back together I don’t even use the tool, just a finger depressing the back of the firing pin assembly. As far as the gun itself, I love it....only 2 things kept me from buying an M2 trigger and the horrible hard to see sights! I double tap it often because of the long trigger reset, and this sights! Uhhhggg! But when I see em that pistol is a fine shooter! I love how it feels in my hand too! Had considered using it as a carry gun replacing the sights, but my tendency to double tap it threw that out the window! Overall though I do like the gun. Maybe a sight change and trigger work done would change my mind about the carry of it.

My issue was never taking it apart. It was putting it back together. I would frequently get the hook caught on the striker spring. One time in particular it was so bad I literally had to put it in a vice for leverage to ger the hook to realease the coils. I had to replace the spring. Shoots great, my wife loves it; but damn if it's not the biggest pain in the ass to clean...

@shuumai6 жыл бұрын
The thumb safety is one reason I was even looking at the CCP/M2 for concealed carry. I don't like that it's so easy to engage, but do like that it's easy to disengage. Except on the range, especially with a new shooter, the easy safety might be nice. Other than that, I was looking for easy slide racking and reasonable recoil.
@52156drj5 жыл бұрын
I'm ok with the safety but I agree with you on the mag release. It's just one mans opinion but I much prefer the paddle to a button release.
@roykiefer77135 жыл бұрын
For me - one individual’s opinion only - I like the thumb safety on the CCP M2, whereas I generally dislike thumb safeties (although there are exceptions, for example when I’m carrying a 1911-A1 “cocked and locked”). The M2 will soon become my EDC and I’ll carry it IWB (principally, AIWB). When re-holstering an IWB-carried striker fired autoloader, I prefer some sort of non-trigger mounted safety as an additional precaution against a negligent discharge - and this is especially true for AIWB carriage, due to the proximity of critical body parts.

Apparently they made changes between the 9mm M2 and the 380 M2. We bought one for my wife and it has a mag disconnect (argh) plus you have to push the striker indicator surround down, then slide the "switch" over to release the slide. But trying to get the piston back in the hole would've been a show-stopper if we'd known before we bought. The piston hole should be chamfered and / or given "guide rails" to direct the piston into it, so the absurd process of trying to dangle the piston into place could be avoided. What a pain. In all seriousness -- My Ruger Mark II is far easier to reassemble than the CCP 380 M2. Plus the fence / rail around the mag and slide release buttons prevent them from being used by the trigger hand without breaking grip -- They're in the way. And to add insult to injury, our striker assembly failed after 19 rounds (and it took over two weeks of minimal communication -- and a miscue -- from Ft. Smith to get a replacement). Not impressed at all.

@j_thom6 жыл бұрын
Agreed with the magazine capacity, I think without those inner ribs in the grip, this pistol could have a staggered magazine that will bring the capacity up to 12 rounds, easy. I mean, those are pretty deep ribs, they could be thicker yet shallower methinks, if they are even wholly necessary at all, which I suspect only Walther knows at the moment.
@stopthephilosophicalzombie90176 жыл бұрын
+J Thom Exactly. I have been redesigning this pistol in my head for years, and when I heard about the M2, I had wild flights of fancy thinking my dreams had been realized. Then I remembered that the CCP is manufactured by Umarex, not Ulm Walther. The capacity fix should have been trivial, and now with the P365 on the market, there's no excuse to sell any subcompact with less than 10 round capacity.

So, I am going to make a conjecture here: I believe this firearm is more suspectable to failure when it is not cleaned than the traditional Browning tiliting bolt style. The gas-delayed blow back system is rare and I think it's for this reason; it doesn't do well with neglect
@Misskitty15 Жыл бұрын
Is that little spring that you push back in last...I noticed you had it pushed down. I thought it was supposed to be flush with the round piece that goes back in at the back to finish the closure. Or maybe it doesn't matter about the spring, just long as it's back in? I had some issues after taking apart & cleaning. Did it 3x & sometimes it was fine & other times the slide would not go all the way back and would not cock. Anyone else experience this?

Bravo Walther. Ya just made this wonderfully accurate and ergonomic pistola viable again! I'm not one for trading or selling any firearms, but in this case it's just logical for me to trade in my old and get the new. The takedown was the bane of this pistols existence, even tho it was not the most terrible task one has to do in life, this improvement goes to demonstrate that it was unnecessary. One thing I have really liked about this pistol is how open it's innards are and how utterly thorough it can be cleaned. The new one takes that up a notch with the easy as pie ability to remove the striker. My cleaning regiment for mine (while acknowledging that this pistol runs just fine and dandy when it's a dirty gurl) is to use gun scrubber to the slide area. Simple seconds to remove absolutely all powder and gunk to pristine condition, then coat it all with a thin sheen of balistol (or other cleaner/lubricant). I'm continuously impressed how It's so easily quickly and thoroughly cleaned.

Good review. The original CCP is my EDC. Good reliable firearm in my experience so far with a little over 800 rounds through it. The ergonomics are superb, especially for a pistol that size. I personally don't mind the take down for the original after doing a few times, and the trigger travel isn't a big deal to me since it's a carry gun. Hopefully it markets better for walther now with the more simple take down. My only real gripe about the pistol is the sights are absolute garbage. The dots are hardly visible even in bright light conditions, walther could've easily updated the sights on the new model.
@stopthephilosophicalzombie90176 жыл бұрын
Great point about the sights. At least Ameriglo or Truglo makes aftermarket sights for it now. Did you get the recall work done on yours? Another option is to drill out the dots and insert tritium vials yourself. You can get them from www.mixglo.com

The External Manual Safety Dislike the external manual safety for new & experienced shooters. New shooters, before they pick up any gun should learn the gun safety rules & live by then. If that happens no manual safety is needed and that safety will not get you killed if it is on & you need to shoot fast OR you think you have your Glock/SIG today & try to shoot and you can't. Think about it.

The grip of this CCP M2 looks very much similar as the P22 .... Unfortunately, the re-assemble is kinda " Pain in the Butt " !

I would Seriously Consider the 2nd Gen CCP if not for the capacity.

I'll stick with my PPX and Beretta M9. Reassembly on the CCP M2 looks to be about as big of a pain in the ass as a Kel-tec PF9.

I love the gun, hate to clean it. It’s like some kind of fidgety puzzle game. My reassembly record time is 35 seconds. My Glock? 5 seconds!

They are pretty dang expensive - I love Walther, but the price for this CCP M2 is pretty steep.

I will be getting one though. :)

The weapon in this video is a 9mm... I don't think you mentioned that. The reason I know this is I have the exact same pistol chambered in 380.. If this one was a 380, you would not be able to pull the trigger with the mag out. Only the 380 has the mag removed safe.... Why does Walter not care about the safety of 9mm shooters.?
@GBGuns2 ай бұрын
I believe they changed that. Magazine "safeties" are a potential hazard in defensive situations, especially in a single-stsck gun
@thefleaflop2 ай бұрын
@@GBGuns Hi,... That is interesting. How would single stack be more or less dangerous in that situation???
@thefleaflop2 ай бұрын
Not sure they changed that.... My pistol is brand new, and I spoke to Walther about it on friday.... Were unable to tell me why just on 380 versions, just that its a real thing!

@@thefleaflop This is all theoretical keyboard warrior, but in theory you're MORE likely to want to top off a single stack than a doublestack. Should you need to take a shot suddenly while the mag is out the round in the chamber is useless. Having been in combat myself I doubt such a situation is likely as one tends to shoot until empty and then reload, and reload only in the safety of cover.

@@GBGuns Although fixed barrels (simple blowback recoil systems) have their advantages, I'm accustomed to Glocks and S&W M&Ps (locking breech design - tilting barrel) and teardowns like this seem burdensome.
