Having once owned the Walther PPQ 9 mm, I thought that no other firearm would ever come close to its performance. Close is one thing, closer is another. This is where the Creed closes the gap. I recently purchased my NIB Creed on Gun Broker ($340, plus $20 shipping to my FFL), and it was love at first sight when I received it. Granted, a utilitarian pistol with few, if any bells and whistles, but an absolute charmer at the range. Albeit an unseen hammer fired gun, its light trigger pull almost reminded me of the PPQ's trigger mechanism. Unbeatable accuracy with not one malfunction after 300 tested rds. All I can say is Walther's competitors should start getting their house in order by matching this amazing pistol's performance and price point.

I ordered this for a customer who sadly left (job move) before it arrived, and rather than to send it back and pay the restock fee, I decided to keep it for myself, and I'm sure glad I did. As an FFL dealer I can get almost any gun, and it's a bit large for me to use as a concealed carry gun with a 4" barrel, but I haven't had this much fun with a fantastic shooting pistol in a long time. I expected quite a bit of kick with feel of the gun seeming light for it's size, but it is so smooth, and reliable to shoot, that you can't help but have fun. It was very accurate right out of the box, although you can adjust the sites for wind, and drop, I haven't touched it except to maintain, (I clean after every shooting) and being such an easy gun to break down, even that part is fun. It's perfect for home protection, or if I cross state lines that accept the carry licence, I carry this pistol because I have not had one jam or misfire yet, and I've ran a wide mixture of brands, and even a few steels without one ejection problem. For people who want their first gun, this is perfect. For someone who wants a non professional target and range, and fun pistol that's simple to take apart, I don't think you can go wrong.

Thank you Graham, the creed I expect to become one of the most popular Pistols bar none. I had back surgery and looking for a nice slim single stack 9mm because it's going to be tender back there for some time. How comfortable have you found the CCP to be carried in the back side? I'm looking for comfort, but still realistic power but even in the Gun Digest I can't really see the width. I like the delayed blowback, and reduced muzzle jump, but right now I need comfort for traveling. I know you've tried them all so shoot me an email at lostinthe51s@hotmail.com if you would. Rick

You might find the PPQ better for competition, but it depends on how you approach it. For a year I ran competitions using my carry gun and gear. That turned every competition into valid training instead of a game with unrealistic gear.

I've had my Walther Creed for 2 months now. I've shot it 2 times at the range and have not had any problems with it. I got mine from CDNN Sports online. $269.00 the price plus $35.00 FFL transfer fee. This pistol is very accurate. I also ordered two more magazines for it. 16 rounds. That is a lot of firepower. I think I'll keep it.

Good review. Been a Walther fan since getting a P99 QA about 15 years ago. Didn't see much use for the Creed considering I purchased a PPQ M2 in 2015. In late 2018 I couldn't pass up the CDNN deal of $249 and the extra mags were half price. Dollar for dollar this is the best 9mm pistol I own. It's out of the box accuracy rivals the much higher priced PPQ and the trigger is phenomenal for a hammer fired pistol. A little big, a little ugly and it rattles but it shoots like a champ.

From the Walther website.... "The Creed features a pre-cocked "double-action" trigger system and a bobbed hammer that ensure a no-snag draw from a concealment." Double action trigger.... if the hammer moves reward while the trigger is being pulled it is double action...... the trigger moves the hammer back and releases it .... two actions!

I have two Creeds...won them both at gun raffles about a year apart. The only issue I've ever had with them was with Wolf and Federal Premium steel cased ammo having the occasional failure to eject. But, to be honest, that same ammo caused issues for my PPQ, Glock 43, Mossberg MC1sc, and Beretta M9A3. Yes, it looks like a PPQ had an affair with a Hi-Point, but it's a damn good, reliable gun.

Well I am "kinda" new to weapons. I hunted as a kid with my dad. I was raised by a Marine Drill Instructor and was the only person in basic to not be thrashed for a poorly cleaned weapon after range time. And here is where my time with a weapon ends (1987 in Army) So fast forward to 2019/2020 looking at the world and now I need a weapon When it come down to it WALTHER is the ONLY weapon I'll put my life in the hands of. First Walther was the PPQ 22 LR I still carry her. My second is a Walther PPS these are both with me every time I leave my house The Walther CREED is my next purchase and then a Walther .380. IMO a Walther "budget" weapon is still better then an top of the line glocks or a ruger and both are junk IMO. You want to have a lol get pulled over with two Walthers by a State Trooper. He asked "you a power packer?" I said no only one's a 9mm the other a .22 LR. Trooper "Yes by who?" They are Walthers officer... Looking down Trooper replies '\"Well.... get that light fix" as he walked away looking at the ground. Sorry you feel out manned you would of been even if I hadn't had a weapon. On a personals note I wish reviewers would stop calling these "guns" they are weapons. Now if you buy a Weapon for ONLY target I guess ok but these are for one thing protection and that can and will at time involve a death so they are a weapon.

Awesome review as usual! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought it was a 16 +1. Supposedly the PPX magazines work in the Creed, but not vice versa. Astute point about polishing the safety plunger. I have very high ph content sweat and can rust a glock by the end of a day on my hip & can make a kel-tec disintegrate to a pile of corrosion just by looking at one too long. So I was curious to see how well yours had held up but I'm guessing like most other channels, a lot of the stuff you did reviews on weren't purchases but loaners for the purpose of content, is that about right?

Feel free to compare and contrast the Creed with the patents for the original PPX. The PPX's three-part barrel assembly is covered by this patent: www.google.com/patents/US8997623 The tube threads into the locking piece. A flange at the rear of the tube pulls and traps the feed ramp against the locking piece. On the PPX, I believe the locking piece was manufactured via MIM. The following patent shows how the PPX's slide is constructed, complete with the separate breechblock. Note that they even suggested the possibility of making the breechblock out of plastic. www.google.com/patents/US8555537 The PPX's DAO fire control system is shown here: www.google.com/patents/US8555539 And finally, here we have the patent for the captured guide rod: www.google.com/patents/US8887617

This is just my personal preference of course. But I do think that the original (no rail) slanted up nose G1 version was beautiful. When they added rails, changed the trigger guard shape and redesigned the slide with more serrations in AS model, they lost the clean elegant lines of the G1. Not saying AS is a bad gun at all, I just wish they would stop "tacticooling" it.
