I do own both. I have modified both as well. Both have been fitted with a Sprinco recoil management system. Both have Ameriglo tritium night sights. They also have the same baldr combo lights installed. I have improved the trigger on the Beretta, but the Walther has been untouched. Both pistols are a blast to shoot. As in the review I have made the Walther my main carry gun. You would not go in the wrong direction with either pistol. I feel like the Walther is more refined. I have just recently added a Holosun 507C X2 to the Walther and it has greatly improved its accuracy, plus made me a better shooter than I really am. The same Holosun will be mounted on top of the Beretta, so testing will continue on. At this point, if you have the money Walther all day long. That being said, the Beretta is often the over looked underdog. You will be happy with either choice, I know I am. Take care everyone and keep one in the chamber.

Get the walther dynamic trigger, it is wonderful. I bought the dpm recoil spring instead of springco How much to u think it helped pdp? I felt the dpm was at least 25% recoil decrease. Was the sprinco about same?

My APX Centurion doesn't have an Instagram account, so I don't consider its looks relative to other guns. I know that when I shot the APX at my range along side a Glock 19, Walther PPQ and Sig 320, the APX felt best and was $250-375 less expensive. Its an absolute steal in every way.
@fishfood8719

True, but if you want optics ready, you would have to buy the Beretta APX RDO. MSRP $550( 500 average online price) and a separate optics plate ($70-$82)Walther gives you 1 free. So equally equipped pistols prices are almost equal. I moving towards optics on my new pistols (over 55yrs eyes), but your right, they are a steal. I have talked myself out of buying one 3 times, even when they were $325. But if I can get an FDE for $350 again, I'll have to buy it.

Thank you for your review. When you look at the APX model, I believe it has a few advantages over the PDP. As you mentioned, not only can you change out the grip frames, you can also change out the grips. Beretta has optic mounting plates so that you can add an RDO to their none RDO ready slides. With that I will continue to love my APX.

Initially, I bought the Walther PDP full size 5" barrel (18+1) just about a month after it was released. I was so impressed with its reliability and accuracy after 300 rounds I shot through it, that later on I ended up getting me a PDP 4" (15+1) LE Edition with XS sights from the factory. Both of them are superb! I have nothing but praises, no issues, no complains. I only changed the sights on the full size for AmeriGlo Trooper night sights, and attached to both pistols tactical gun lights, which with the added weight under the barrel it keeps the gun flatter when shooting. With that said, I am impressed with the Beretta APX and have toyed the idea to get me one. Excellent comparison review 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

For $329 the APX is a world beater. Absolutely over-built unit. Look at the slide rails, they are massive and run nearly the entire chassis. A Glock or other similar firearms have small tabs that make me feel uneasy, especially considering how much most of its competition costs. Say what you will about "legacy" but Beretta is the longest operating privately owned company on earth. 500 years strong baby, long live the king of guns.

@JacksonWalter735
@JacksonWalter735 3 жыл бұрын
Honestly I don't think you can go wrong with either guns and it just depends on what you're looking for. To me I'd get the APX if I was tight on money or buying a first gun. It's $300 less than the Walther PDP, you can switch between different grip modules (if you want to go to an APX Compact to make it easier to conceal), to me it feels softer shooting with the lower bore axis (if you shoot Glocks or M&Ps the APX kind of shoots like that), the trigger undercut is nicer, and it looks like a pistol inspired by Jurassic Park/dinosaurs with the slide serrations, grip texture, and jagged trigger. The trigger is above average, but it's not comparable to the Walther PDP at all. You can always add the $15 Competition Firing Pin Spring Assembly from Beretta to make the trigger much nicer, but I'd still take the PDP's trigger. Plus the RDO APX (optics ready) and the APX Combat (optics ready with a threaded barrel) are still cheaper than the Walther PDP. If money wasn't a factor I'd go with the Walther PDP. I am biased though because the Walther PPQ was the first gun I bought when I was old enough and the PDP is just an overall improvement over that. I got a chance to shoot a Walther PDP Compact back in May and fell in love. The trigger was even better than the PPQ's trigger and the pistol wasn't broken in yet with only 60 rounds through it when I shot it. To me this would be the primary reason to get a PDP. Ergonomically, the grip just feels a lot better in my hands than the full size APX or the APX Centurion. The grip swells out and curves in all the right places to really fill out your hands. The grip texture is one of the best, if not the best, out there by allowing you to really lock in your grip while not chafing your skin while you conceal carry. The Walther PDP comes optics ready by default which is nice if you want to future proof your pistol. Back in the day I had to send my PPQ slide to C&H Precision to make it optics ready. Might as well get it done straight from the factory and not have to pay extra. The slide serrations on the Walther PDP looks better in my opinion as well. It looks thick on video, but it's not that much wider than what you get on something like a Glock 19. Shooting wise I do feel like there is slightly more felt recoil while I'm shooting fast, follow up shots, but with a proper grip the sights snap right back into place. The Walther PDP Compact also feels like a much bigger gun than it really is. It's still a great conceal carry option while feeling like a full size pistol if that makes any sense. For many people who never shot the PPQ or PDP, I notice many of them ride the slide release while shooting. On their last shot the slide doesn't lock back because they're engaging the slide safety. This isn't a problem with the gun and a little bit of training will fix it. The Walther PDP also looks better to me.

I was attracted to the APX due to the unusual slide serrations. Although I really like Walther products, I find that the Beretta just has a better shooters feel to it. @JacksonWalter735
@JacksonWalter735 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah switching over from a full size APX to a Compact or Centurion model isn't really realistic nor is it feasible. While theoretically possible to do so, Beretta doesn't sell all the parts necessary for you to convert your full size APX over to a smaller version or vice versa (like how Sig lets you buy every single part for their P320/P365 lineups). You can't even buy different size slides from Beretta (or an optics ready slide if you wanted and optic now) to make this possible. Converting your full size APX from a 9mm to .40 S&W or changing out the grip frames is probably the most you can do. Just buying the parts alone would cost more than straight up buying a new APX Compact/Centurion IF Beretta sold all the parts to make those pistols when you already own the APX FCU.

I have a full size APX and it stays full size. Nothing can change that. I also have a Compact APX that can change to a Centurion by charging the $38.00 frame to color of your choice. Simpler and easier choice is to just add a Centurion mag and spacer to the Compact. Same difference. Either of the Carry models are all by themselves. Some day I'll get a PDP .

Why are you picking on the XDS? After all, that was the first 45 caliber compact handgun to come on the market. A real powerhouse in a small package. A true Pocket Gun.

You’re crazy! Tell me what aftermarket support it needs? The Apx is a beast out of the box. I don’t understand buying a gun and spending just as much on aftermarket shit. The only thing I did to my Apx was buy extra mags and hella ammo to TRAIN. That’s all I’m not saying the pdp is not a good firearm. Again another firearm that doesn’t need aftermarket support because they’re good right out of the box

It’s suppose to be a modular system. I’m not saying it’s not a great gun. It’s got a great trigger and ergonomics . But the lack of aftermarket beretta has provided for it is horrible. They did not market this well. But it would be nice to have slides, internals and kits available similar to how sig has it for the p320. Mine also has a hard time cycling steel case ammo. Lots of FTF’s. For the price it is great. Just expected more aftermarket support

The APX has night sights from Trijicon, Ameriglo, and XS Big Dot available. Leather, kydex, and hydrid IWB and OWB for any carry position is available. Beretta offers threaded barrels, optic cuts, steel plates for every major optic manufacturer, manuextended magazines, extended mag sleeves, heavy recoil spring assemblies, grip modules in several colors, extended mag release, and slide stop on their website. Beretta and Galloway Precision both offer competition striker springs that will bring the 6lb trigger down to 4-4.5lb.

The serrations are absolute junk on the APX. That's why only the APX ever had any like it. Watch Military Arms channels test of the APX. And they are cut backwards too 🤣 You need more traction at the base of the slide Beretta, not the top.. No wonder why it didn't stand a chance at the military trials...🤣 Then that stupid trigger Beretta put on it.... horrible weak trigger return spring that can barely pull itself back to reset, it's crunchy, and most of all Beretta then decided to build the frame around the trigger so that it bites the living crap outta your finger!!! Multiple reports online about this, including mine. Takes a doctor to swap frames on the APX too...what a pile! Oh, and on top of that, it's FAT!!!! And I mean, FAT! I compared mine to all my guns and it seriously looked unfinished, like they forgot to slim it down and just decided it was too late to actually shape the gun. The APX is terrible, That's why Beretta dropped the price of them down to 300.00 bucks before the China Virus. They suck, and Beretta knows it. When I saw this video, APX vs PDP I was like, well that's not fair to Beretta. But then you made it sound like it was actually a close comparison!!!?? No, no no my friend, stop being nice to Beretta..be honest with us and yourself. Anyways, there's a rant for ya to smile about. ☺️🤘

@silent sir Well then if we use your theory, I guess everyone has small fingers and hands. Including Tim from Military Arms channel! Haha, someone should let him know, because he thinks he has large hands. The slide release on the PDP is a Gem. Even the all mighty H&K uses the same one it's so beautiful! Haha and also why Walther hasn't changed it since the original design of the PPQ. Oh, and Canik who copied the PPQ kept that slide stop design. The APX?? Uh, nothing. It's no comparison. I am willing to be that Beretta comes out with a new poly wonder 9 that is nothing like the craptastic APX. And soon too.

WHAT THE... Did he say he switched from the smaller S&W Shield (7 & 8 rd magazine) to the big butt & chunky Walther PDP (15 rd magazines)?? Saying *_Gunscom,_* he wanted *more capacity* & a more *"capable"* carry gun?? Bias is correct - IMO: CAPACITY - for concealed carry the FBI street data shows the average shots fired in personal self-defense is 2 to 4 shots. You don't need 15 shots for CCW/concealed carry. If you shot 15 shots in a CCW/concealed carry incident, 1. You are a poor shot. 2. You will be going to jail to for overkill. 3. If you shoot the wrong color i.e. you are white, "bad" guy/gal is black/brown/yellow *_15 times_* you are racist according to USA current culture. Just saying. CAPABILITY - I thought the S&W Shield was/is very capable. I have no idea what *Gunscom* want *_more_* the Walther PDP has that the S&W Shield does not have?? _I Think_ (tell if I wrong *Gunscom)* Because the Walther PDP is the new shiny object every gun industry person & their mama wants to use it in some form or another to _promote it._ The are better carry pistols out there that are already known. I.e. HK VP series, or the World Standard the Glock can & does beat the PDP. THE TRUTH The Walther PDP is a good gun maybe a great OWB duty gun _BUT_ it is a *_bad carry gun_* cause it is fat, bulky, & heavy at 24.4 oz for the compact 4 inch barrel - heaver than the Shield which weights 18.3 oz & is smaller. I have no idea why anyone who is not fat like the PDP would carry it?? NOTE: Guys/Gals do not use handguns for home defense USE LONG GUNS to have the power advantage & be much more effective. The best long gun to use for home protection is the *_shotgun_* or trench sweeper as my grandfather would say. God bless
