You should review the 1903 Pocket Hammerless by US Armament MFG. The original was made by Colt in 1903 to 1945 and it also shoots 32 ACP. It holds 8+1 and the hammer is enshrouded by the slide. Really good pistol and for the US, anyway, it was the Glock 19 of its time, essentially.

Lucky you. I've had mine (PPK, not /S) on order since the day after I got the e-mail from Walther and it STILL hasn't come in. I ordered black.

Nice review! 👍🏻 I have a PPK in .380 ACP and watching you, I'm glad I have skinny hands because I can see that the longer beaver tail doesn't really protect bigger (i.e. male) hands all that much. And yes, it kicks. I'm hoping my new one in .32 ACP, if it ever ships, obviates that a bit because even though it's an all-metal gun, it's still a little small to be chambered in .380. The DA is, indeed, very heavy and you confirmed that the new one will be more of the same. Waiting with bated breath over here . . . . 😬 Incidentally, if, after breaking it down for cleaning, you have a problem keeping the trigger guard in place for reassembly, just put a bit of pressure on it with your right index finger while slipping the slide back on--no need for popsicle sticks. 😁

The difference in weight may be because the wieght given for the PPK is with the magazine in the gun and the weight of the PPK/s is without the magazine in. The capacities you quote are correct for the .380 version.

PPK/S is a beautiful little pistol. I have the 22lr model and love it but that price of the 32 acp is crazy.

People act like the PPK being in .380 is this recent development that replaced the beloved .32. The PPK has been offered in both .32 and .380 since the 1930s with .32 being the more popular in Europe, but .380 has gained ground among Americans for being the stronger round. It’s good that we have the choice again, but .380 is still the more popular round and will be more plentiful and less expensive than .32. And good grief, people, the recoil of the .380 in the PPK is very manageable. It’s an all steel gun. Learn to grip the thing the way it was designed and you won’t have slide bite. The extended tang introduced by Smith & Wesson eliminates the hammer bite issue. Incidentally, Bond carried a S&W PPK in .380 “No Time to Die.” Q also issued him a PPK/S in .380 in Skyfall. He used a Walther P99 in 4 of the movies and a Walther P5 in Octopussy, so while the .32 PPK is the classic, Bond has wielded other variants and other Walthers.

Just picked up mine (a PPK, rather than the /S variant), and was trying to practice that first DA trigger pull. That trigger is crazy heavy, man. I have a revolver with a 12lb trigger pull and this feels well north of that. 13.5lbs from the spec sheet feels lighter. So my questions are: 1. Does yours feel that heavy? I feel like struggle to stage it, I have to yank it the whole way through to do it consistently. 2. Has yours broken in at all, or does it still feel that resistant? Either way, I got it for the novelty and I like small caliber pistols, it's not really gonna be a carry piece for me. Just curious as to your experience. Looking through other videos, I don't see many people doing that first DA shot.

I haven't fired it much, but out of the box the DA pull starts with a very short zero pound take up followed by a rigid wall. No ability to stage...just pull against the wall (no staging...no movement)...pull pull pull...then it just lets loose cock bang. I've never seen a DA act this way...no staging. That said, after firing it a bit, I'm starting to get a stage. It's still stiff and not very manageable. But definitely beginning to loosen up. I'm guessing the spring needs a good bit of break in. Probably needs several hundred cycles. Jury is still out on whether its well behaved after break in.

I've got my Dad's original 1972 Walther PPK that he brought home from Germany, where he was stationed after Vietnam and where I was born. The Walther and I came back to the United States in '73. Hearing this guy prounce it "Walter" at first made me want to turn off the vid in the begining. Stuck through it though. Also, another piece of history, it's the gun that Hitler committed suicide with.

the data sheet IS incorrect! the PPK originally held 7 in the Magazine the PPK/S is actually a Walther PP frame mated to a PPK slide this was done to circumvent the GCA of 68.

This would have been a lot easier sell for me (I'm not suggesting the host is selling anything, I mean Walther) were we back when Wal Mart sold .32acp regularly. I'm not adverse to buying online mind you, it's just I don't see .32 laying around most haunts I frequent. Ok, bring the comments on how easy .32 is to find and that you have no problem finding it yourselves and all the things I have to do to find it easily if I would just do what you do because you're so committed and awesome. Ready and, "action!" Thank you for the thorough review. Very good.

What words was mispronounced ? Wal - Ther ? Anything else ?
@TacticalJackalope
@TacticalJackalope Ай бұрын
@@2WildGuns People pronounce words incorrectly all of the time but I don't loose sleep over it. The big glaring error you made was the history of the PPK/S. The PPK/S was created cooperatively with Interarms (the former importer) and Walther to circumvent the GCA of 68'. The PPK would no longer qualify for importation after it was passed because it didn't comply with the law. This is why the grip was extended. The origin of the PPK was really the PP (Polizei Pistole) which was developed and went on the civilian market in 1929 making the platform 95 years old. They were the first pistols to have double action and a hammer drop safetly.

@@2WildGuns It doesn't matter but the correct German pronounciation is "Val-ter" The "th" sound in German is pronounced like a normal "t" in English.

@@TacticalJackalope I was reading the history from the spec sheet I was sent. Unfortunately the spec sheet I was send and that is on their site is for the PPK. Their PPK/s spec sheet uses the PPK spec sheet. I was literally reading from that.
