Walther Arms sent us a pre-release model of their new PPS Mod 2, so that we could have holsters and magazine carriers available to their customers. We took advantage of getting our hands on this dynamic little shooter, and tested it out with Massad Ayoob and John Strayer and several others.

I 100% agree with training to shoot at much longer distances. For those that take self-defense seriously, you may need to take that 20+ yard shot to stop a threat. I see too many people training only at 5 yards. That's fine, but if someone is rushing towards you at 25 yards with a machete, are you going to wait 5 yards to engage? What if your firearm malfunctions? Know the capabilities of your weapon and train with it! Thanks, Mr. Ayoob, for another informational video! I will be practicing more with the PPS M2. Fantastic firearm.

I personally have not heard a better more profound argument for why we need to incorporate more generous distances in our range time practice than what Mass has stated here. Excellent stuff here GFT!

More Mas! More Mas!. Thanks for presenting my Mentor since I was a very young teenager, the incomparable & brilliant Massad F. Ayoob. In my mind, he is overall, the world's finest Firearms/ Tactics Instructor- Trainer , period. In addition, in all realms of media; books, video, etc, he is unparalleled in teaching the " How, Why, When, Where, of the Full range of Threat Management tools and the consequent legal and ethical ramifications of same. Mas, imo, by virtue of his training methodologies, has saved countless Law Enforcement & Civilian lives as well as the net worth of said defenders, from rapacious opposing Counsel, in an increasingly Politically/MSM motivated,Anti- Gun/ Anti-Cop milieu. Quite simply, Mas is a hero of mine. I have not yet had the privilege of training with him yet, or shaking his hand, but trust I will remedy that in the near future. Mas, Jeff Cooper, Elmer Keith,Skeeter Skelton,Jac O'Connor, Chuck Taylor,Evan Marshal, et al , are men whose words I drank deep. Kindly send my best to him, his daughters Justine & Cat, and Gail.Nice job guys.I've been holding a wee present for Mas since 1988 until I meet him.My Daughter Sammie lives in FL.Hope to see u guys soon.Always be safe.Thank God Donald J.Trump won.Sincerely, phil from nyc Fed Leo 26 years, ret. 🇺🇸💝🌈🙏👮

I've been a loyal follower of Mas since the early 1980s. I've recently replaced my XDs with a PPS M2 as my warm weather EDC. You CANNOT beat Walther quality. If the PPS M2 had been available when I was still an LEO it would have been my BUG instead of my S&W 442 or my SIG P230.

I grew up reading his reviews. I used to sell my dad old shotguns news and gun magazines for .50 to 1.00 out of a Israeli military Ammo crate at the gun shows to put away money for the first guns I bought both used ....a Ruger mk2 5inch and AR-7. I was 10 when I got the idea to sell those magazines at one of my dad's tables and was 12 when I bought the Ruger .22 pistol with that money from all those cool guys that helped me out. Just the memories of reading all of those articles written by Mr Ayoob while I waited for customers to get interested and pay me for some old magazines.

good to see pistol rest shooting, i am a firm believer of seeing what a gun will do with little human error as possible, once pistol rest testing is done with various ammo and distances it can give you good idea of performance. i do these same tests with airgun target pistols with over 100 different brands of pellets in .177 and also i make bar graphs for 50 shot tests showing 3 stages of barrel condition, 1. clean 2. fouled 3. dirty and what the graph show is interesting in how some pistols prefer a more fouled barrel and some like a walther barrel in my 747 target pistol prefer no cleaning for a long time, this is because the wather target pistols rifling is almost self cleaning, were as the 717 target pistol with standard rifling prefers to be cleaned more often to keep impacts at the same point, all air gunners are very into lothar walther twisties since they have been proven to win matches

I have had mine a week and its on its way back to Walther. The tactical trigger reset did not exist on mine. I just thought it didnt have it, but after checking out some others I was wrong. I shot 100 rounds through it and so far love it, Walther customer service has been amazing so far. Im not going to hold this against them or the gun sometimes you just get a lemon. Cant wait until I get it back.

Great review, Massad. However two of my observations with my PPS M1 model that I have; I like the ambidextrous mag release on bottom of trigger guard because, if my dominant hand/arm became incapacitated for any reason, I can use the other. Furthermore, I don't particular care for the LH button mag release in the M2 model because, with my finger and hand size, I have to cant the pistol about 45-50 degrees in the palm of my right hand, then press the button realease, very similar in function to my M1911 Gov't. And, I like the adjustment of the back straps to make the grip smaller/larger for the other half of me to shoot or if I wear gloves for whatever reason, usually the winter, it will come in handy. I.e. on a very cold day wearing gloves, I would opt for the smaller back strap fitting for CC. Cheers

Thanks for the vid. I walked into the local range last week and they had 3 of these in stock. My LGS told me they couldn't get one. Did I buy it? Heck yeah. No prep, just unboxed it and put 150 rounds through it. Flawless. I'm dumping my CCP and P99c for this gun.

The biggest improvement is it doesn't have the back strap that disables the whole gun if it becomes slightly dislodged. Trigger is better, they made they grip more ergonomic, and they added front slide serrations. Maybe this super pro could actually learn a few simple points before he talks about it

I always practice out to 50 yards with my EDC handguns. Currently only making about 60-65% hits with the little 2.5-3" barreled pistols. If he's got an AK 47 or AR15, even that may not be good enough. We really should be able to bear SBRs like they do in Israel, for instance. Everyone I've had try shoots an SBR better than a SBP right out of the gate. It's our right even though our criminal governments aren't recognizing it fully - yet. My PPS M2 is the smoothest shooting, best "feeling" single stack 9mm I've tried (which is most all of the mid to upper quality ones).

6.925 lb. average trigger pull weight. I wouldn't like that. Walther claims that it has a 6.1 lb. trigger. Hopefully that trigger pull weight will decrease some with use.

@KerbalEnginr
@KerbalEnginr 8 жыл бұрын
+Green Force Tactical LLC I received an email from a gun tech at Walther who said that the mag release wasn't reversible. If that's the case Walther missed a major opportunity. Ambi friendly firearms are an important piece of the industry.
@stopthephilosophicalzombie9017
@stopthephilosophicalzombie9017 8 жыл бұрын
+SCE Bubba Yeah the latest on the Walther Forums is that it's not reversible. That seems to go against Walther's philosophy of supporting left handers with their models. Maybe it was a cost sacrifice that will be addressed if the gun is a success.
