Yes I also have an M1 version which I really like...but you do NOT have to take off the back strap to break it down or field strip it. That is wrong.

As previously stated, it is not necessary to remove the backstrap for takedown of the PPS. It can be disassembled just like the m2 is demonstrated or any glock. That being said I actually like the decock feature of the backstrap especially for inexperienced or new owners. I view it as a safety feature during takedown that avoids any chance of negligent discharge. Plus the back strap doesn't need to come all the way off to utilize the feature. Just push the release button then push it back in place. Firearm is decocked and ready for disassembly. Also love my paddle release so I don't think I'll be replacing my m1 with the m2.
@robhimself798 жыл бұрын
glad I got the m1 when I did. I know some corrected you about the backstrap. the gun is useless without it but you do not need to take it out. I definitely think the grip texture is better but that is the only improvement

I love my M1. I'm very much a fan of the American mag release but I bought this gun specifically because of the Euro mag release. I often carry in an ankle holster and have had numerous guns with American mag releases pop the mag loose by hitting the ball of my ankle.

You don’t need to pull trigger to disassemble. You rack slide, then pull the slide back 1/4” at the same time push both tabs down then slide forward,it’s off ,like a Glock. That’s one reason it has front serrations

Picked up the PPS from buds last September for $389.No wonder why these were going for such a low price.If i knew the M2 was coming out, i would have waited.Oh well...i'll keep my original PPS although i love the upgrades on the M2.Not to mentioned, i picked up three extra mags for it.$$$
@oldmilk32698 жыл бұрын
Need one... In my opinion they fixed what I didn't like on the existing pps. Mag release (see vp9 torture test by MAC ) and the backstrap/ disconnector. Will definitely be in my collection within the next 4 months. They made be hard to get since these are new.

You can take them both down the same way. You don't have to pull the back strap off the M1

I've been in love with my PPQ M2, so I just ordered the PPS M2 from Kentucky Gun Co. Thanks for the review! Note: As a marketing professional, I'd say you should consider slowing down your rate of fire if you're going to "shoot to review". Consumers want to see the gun put down some sort of pattern, not just that it can actually fire when you pull the trigger. Guns & Ammo put 10 rounds in a 3.18" pattern at 25 yards with the PPS M1, so you're complete miss and wide pattern at 7 yards won't bode well for your sales from consumers who associate accuracy with the firearm more so than the shooter.
@Bubnazty8 жыл бұрын
I love Walther but this is pretty disappointing. M1 style paddle mag release is superior in my opinion. It's ambidextrous with no changes to the gun and can be easily actuated with your trigger finger, not sure why people can't get past not having a button. I wouldn't use the rail most likely but how much cost savings are they gaining by not molding the polymer with a rail? Also what is Walther thinking with their product line? This is very similar to the CCP, starting to feel kinda redundant. No external safety and a better trigger I guess? I would like to see a generation 2 of the PPS that is pretty much just a smaller single stack PPQ, Paddle release, great trigger, no external safety and the rail like the CCP and PPQ have.
@SirMo8 жыл бұрын
+Bubnazty It was to be expected as with their other M2 guns. CCP is a very different gun on the other hand, I would not compare a CCP to a PPS they are radically different designs, I think Umarex designed the CCP. Hopefully we can expect the M3 to have paddle mag release which I prefer. In the meantime I am happy with my PPS M1.

Yeah, I'm with ablalo2010: I don't have to pull the back strap to field strip my MI either. It comes apart just like a Glock. If I didn't have the M1, I'd probably be in the market for the M2 but I don't see any persuasive reason to switch.

@AccurateShooter8 жыл бұрын
I know there was some rapid fire, but honestly the groups on the target (seen at 4:28) were pretty disappointing. I attribute this 100% to the shooter rather than the gun. I would like to see this gun tested for slow fire accuracy with a skilled shooter. My HK P7m8 will easily put all shots in a 2" circle (or better) at 7 yards at a brisk rate of fire.
@sonomimus1608 жыл бұрын
+AccurateShooter Guns & Ammo put 10 rounds in a 3.18" pattern at 25 yards with the PPS M1. The PPS M2, having a better trigger, can definitely do the same with the right shooter.
@billosby99978 жыл бұрын
I have to admit at one time I was going to buy the m1 but after picking one up it just felt bad to me and the trigger felt like it was going to cut my finger off, too narrow and had some sharp edges. I'll have to check the new version out.

I am left handed. The magazine release looks like it is located in a spot on the gun where the trigger finger looks like it passes over it. Has the magazine ever actually engaged by accident during left handed operation? Thanks

Love my M2. In My opinion, it is close to or even is too heavy and bulky to carry. It should have been made lighter. For Me. 21ozs unloaded is a lot for a single stack. A G26 is about the same. But, the SM2 fires and feels like a big gun, and I like walthers. I don't carry it though. LCP2 for that.
@ACYT2988 жыл бұрын
so it's stupid, they did away with the rail, and you didn't have to take the backstrap off to dissemble the gun that's what the two tabs on the frame like the glock were for, not to mention they made it to only take proprietary m2 mags which is stupid

Euro release wayyyyy better.
@czluver43388 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Just comes down to training. Where the Euro release is better is in full size guns. People with smaller hands can more easily reach a paddle release than a side button release without the need to adjust their grip.
@icysurfer17 жыл бұрын
Not for someone wanting continuity between platforms. Which is always a good idea. I sold my M1 to get the better M2. The grip alone is reason enough to trade it in. Blocky compared to contoured. Put on a Talon grip, and you are ALL SET>

@SirMo8 жыл бұрын
+abialo2010 yeah in fact, PPS M1 is one of the easiest guns to take apart. Do a safety check, push the slide release, and fire and the gun comes apart on its own almost. Removing the backstrap decocks the gun so it's just a different way to disassemble the gun without having to dry fire it, something that might come handy when dealing with a jam.
@KevinSchaefer718 жыл бұрын
+SirMo That is not the proper way to take down that style of pistol. You should pull the trigger, then pull back the slide about a 1/4 inch, pull down the slide lock lever, and move the slide forward to remove it. Pulling the trigger to release the slide can lead to it flying off the gun and ending up hitting the floor and damaging it.
@SirMo8 жыл бұрын
Kevin Schaefer My method is much easier. You hold the slide when you pull the trigger so it doesn't drop. That's true for either method.

+Liverpool 11 That definitely is a step backwards and goes against the Walther design ethic. I hope this doesn't portend more such alienating design decisions (in addition to losing the paddle mag release). I suppose they ran the numbers on how many sales they might lose by not offering the reversible mag release, but it's the principle of the thing. Bad move Walther. Very sad.

What about improving that "bullpup" pistol? That'd be a start. Or maybe look into a shotgun pistol using the mini shells? Something!
@RyeOnHam8 жыл бұрын
All Games Okay, first, you can't have a pistol shotgun for about a dozen reasons, not the least of which is that it is illegal. Second, there are bullpup pistols. Remington was one of the first to introduce one. I don't think your really understand the terms you speak of. There is a reason why cars have four wheels and a front engine. Sure, alternatives exist, but Henry Ford got it right. If it works, why are you trying to fix it?
