Late to the party on this, humble apologies. I have 3 RM8s, a traditional wood stock, a black soft touch stock, and a UC thumbhole. All shoot with lazer accuracy out to 50m (even further on a good day) with the right pellet. I've tried all types of pellets and found JSB 8.44, hades and jumbo heavies are truly excellent. One hole group under a 5p no dramas. Both of a long rifles have non auto safety whilst the UC has an annoying auto. Theres a reason I own 3, it's because I like reminding the Daystate and HW shooters at the range that all 3 cost less than their single rifle but can out shoot or match them accuracy wise...😉😁

Very happy with your honest review. I'm from the Philippines. Before I was about to buy a reign 22cal. But at that time I still lack the money to buy it. So when I return after a week it is already sold out and I was left with a rm8 varmint. I decided to have the rm8 but always thinking of the reign. Finally I'm happy to know that it's a good choice that I had that instead of my first choice which is reign. Thanks guy will follow your videos.

Love my RM8. had it 3 years. Out-performs many other way more expensive rifles in terms of accuracy but is a bit on the heavy side, especially with a 10-50x60 slapped on top...bit of a bark as well.

Yes - its a wonderful rifle! I have read some negative comments about it, but I don't think some people really know what they are talking about sometimes, they haven't actually owned the rifle! Yes, its a touch heavy, but it shoots really well! Thank you for the comment!

Interesting review. I own both of these rifles in .177, and shoot them regularly over my own 40m range. I enjoy them both. I do tend to get more consistent groups from the RM8. I tend to put this down to the lighter weight of the Reign it took me a while to get accustomed to this and the Bullpup format. I've been shooting Air Arms 8.44 diabolo fields in both. I really should experiment with other pellets to see what happens. Incidentally as it's a back garden range I use silencers on both rifles. For the benefit of Luke below, I have an older RM8 Varmint - it doesn't have the auto-safety feature, you have to set it manually.

I own both and for the record the Reign is consistently more accurate and far outperforms the RM8 when it comes to utility. Lighter, fully ambidextrous, better action, better magazine, more convenient safety and easier to maintain. Not much change with the Mark Ii but heavier barrel and as a result even more accurate. The Reign is a fun turn to gun, more so than my FXs, and is beyond comparison with the RM8.

Your mates finger position was off, not using the tip of the finger to shoot with, but rather the flabby bit 😂 I prefer the RM8 also, just picked one up yesterday and liking it. I’m used to £1000/£2000 plus rifles but the Walther holds its own, and no I’m not the one sending you death threats 😂(guy at the bus stop from the shooting show) 👍🏻

Nice review. As you say maybe the stand you were using favoured the RM8 over the Reign. But overall, the results are “concerning” when one considers the price difference between the two guns: the Reign being the much more expensive of the two. The groups were also unexceptional at such close range, but perhaps this was down to it being a windy day. My own RM8 shoots well and comes close in to my Weihrauch HW100K in terms of accuracy and grouping. However, based upon personal experience the Walther RM8 is an unreliable gun, and I’ve experienced leaks with two of them. One immediately upon purchase and another after only a few months of light use. For that reason, I personally wouldn’t buy anything but a Weihrauch from now on. You get what you pay for.

Have both of them. Love them. H&N Field target trophy work really well in either. Love the style of both, Reign wins as a hunter as so on point - just points so easy... it is light - so takes some practice with your shooting style... and copes well with the wet. Both are capable of one hole work. Only annoying thing about the RM8 is the auto safety, initially set up for a thumb up shooting grip, it’s a bit of a faff with the thumb hole stock which doesn’t allow this grip.

My reign has the picatinny rail and silencer.. maybe it's a later model. It's the 22. But mine shoots groups like the 1st gun at 34 yards with the atn x sight. The jsb jumbo 18 grain is the only pellet it shoots that consistently with from what I have found so far. Have not had a flier with the jsb yet and they came from Amazon so the pellets are not even in that great of condition but still group like that first gun.
@southwestshooters
@southwestshooters 3 жыл бұрын
I believe you have the mk2? But it also sounds like you really like this version too. The "secret gun group" video on the channel was actually shot using the reign, using 7.3 grain jsb. At 40 meters too. I guess it's a little bit of luck sometimes? Every gun I've used occasionally has fliers. Thank you for taking the time to comment on the video.

@@southwestshooters I enjoyed the video, I'm just getting into pcp shooting. The gun I have is the reign utx, I guess they have some slight differences but overall the same I believe. I have only put about 50 shots through it with the jsb jumbo, I'm sure I'll get a flier pretty soon. It did not like the h@n or the Benjamin pellets at all. I had alot of fliers and inconsistent shots and groups with those other two pellets lol. The jumbo works beautifully though. But I'm shooting the 22 so I shouldn't compare the groups. That first gun in the video that was shot is definitely impressive.

A fair and predictable result but I’ve been shooting the Reign for quite some time and it’s “a keeper”. In fact because I’m almost exclusively a hunter and because of the way I hunt I wouldn’t consider a full length rifle although I enjoy shooting them. Out in the field the short compact dimensions and it’s ultra light weight make it my go to gun if a sub 12ftlb 177 is needed. If more is needed I use a 30ftlbs Wildcat in .22. I’ve got the AA tdk + Dreamline compact in sub 12ftlb but the Reign is still my favourite. Personal likes and dislikes are always a major factor. I suppose at 6’ 2 and 70yrs of age I should leaning towards conventional air rifles but I think as a gangly 14yr old my beloved 2nd hand Airsporter always had one major flaw -size and an unscoped weight of 8lbs. I’ve found the Reign a brilliant little rifle now that size and weight are again becoming an issue. I think Walther are very much under appreciated whatever model you choose. Good video.

Dear Sir. Thank you so much for your thoughts. You clearly have a good taste in guns! Although neither of us hunt, we did reason the reign would be perfect for those that do. Question : is the reign your favourite ever rifle?
@grahamedwards9920
@grahamedwards9920 3 жыл бұрын
Wow! That’s an impossible one. Over 70yrs I’ve had at least 9 different FAC air rifles. The one I liked least was a Weihrauch that was long enough to punt with and weighed more than a small car. It wasn’t exceptional in terms of power/accuracy or reliability and went back to the dealership more than once. AA supplied an FAC model that I liked, Daystate sorted me the most beautifully stocked Huntsman that was too pretty to use at the farms but they were all out shot by a BSA R10 tuned by John Bowkett. But I suppose my Mk1 Wildcat that I’ve had for a few years is the best all round FAC rifles I’ve owned. As for sub 12 springers then In terms of nostalgia the battered old early model Airsporter of my youth wins hands down even though it’s no match for current guns the best (most accurate) of which I found to be a 177 Walther Terrus. Precharged sub 12? I enjoyed the 2 BSA Ultras I’ve owned but in terms of sheer usability in the field the Reign + the Dreamline are hard to beat. All of the guns were bought new and many of them “ fettled” by the experts of the time. I’ve no idea how many I’ve owned and all of it is just personal opinion and experience and probably quite boring.
