Hilarious how you were shooting both guns differently. The rm8 got support at the front, but was shouldered at the rear... The read wolf didn't even need holding, the front and rear of your rest was supporting the whole gun. This video is nearly as funny as the last one I stumbled across of yours, when you were doing an accuracy test on a windy day.

If you cock the bolt on the RM8 too quick you might not go all the way back, best way to do it is little slower and firmly, I have the RM8 Ultra Compact, great rifle for the money and I get some great groupings with it. I find best pellets are the JSB Heavy’s for .177, the 10.34 grain ones. Give them a try.

Just got myself a second hand RM8 .22 had three up the spout, very easily done don't beat yourself up, What calibre were they, Guessing 177 as grain weight was 8.44 ? Would love to see a RM8 service / strip down tutorial as there doesn't seem to be one out there, Cheers and good job well done, I never knew Louis Theroux could shoot so well ;)

Jon, thank you for taking the time to comment. Yes, we really only own 177 guns. We don't really have the technical knowledge yet to do a service tutorial for the RM8 yet.....but if anything happens in the future we will look into doing one. I'm working on my next BBC documentary....on air rifles, so it's important I can shoot.

Good effort for your first video lads. I enjoyed it and it was a good concept I've not seen before...trying each others rifles. I've never shot an rm8 but every video I've seen on it the shooter seems to have to force the bolt a bit. Can't be good for the pellet. Maybe an experiment with a single shot tray could be an idea for another video? Anyway, good luck with your channel lads.
@southwestshooters

Thank you sir. Yes. These are great suggestions. Chris is actually planning a video exploring this using the RW as he has a tray with it....but Ian, as of yet, does not have one for the RM8. On our other video Chris did a little look at using different weight pellets at 50 (ish) meters....please have a look at that if you get the chance. There will be more videos soon.

Yep will do, definitely. I've seen comments on various forums about the notchy bolt on the rm8 and most point to the magazine rather than the bolt itself. Apparently the teeth on the mag need to be kept spotlessly clean or it doesn't quite rotate properly.
@southwestshooters
@southwestshooters 3 жыл бұрын
@@dawiddadun3044 Very interesting. I think there is truth to this. We will investigate in our next shooting session...perhaps a more robust mag would be prudent. We will look into this.....a single shot tray is in the future for sure!

I'd be very interested in your findings on this. I've been tempted by the rm8 uc which is why I was reading the forums. Its certainly a good looking gun and I agree with what you were saying about the synthetic stock. Me & my lad both have a bsa ultra with the synthetic stock & they're bombproof.

@@dawiddadun3044 I have used both the 177 and 22 Ultras.....they are fantastic guns. The RM8 is heavier to hold....by quite some margin, but the truth is they are both good guns. I don't think you'd be disappointed if you picked up an rm8, if you buy used make sure its shooting at the correct power. Other than that you should be golden. Let us know what you decide to do!

We disagree with you about this. Although you can choose to look at it this way, the alternative is to understand that the RM8 is actually quite close, in terms of accuracy. Besides, I've never owned an FX for long enough without it developing a fault to get a proper look at the gun. Thank you for taking the time to comment.
