This puts me into a relaxed, almost hypnotic state. I love it! ❤️ When Disneyland closed, the things I missed the most were the bells and whistles from the DLRR and the Mark Twain, plus the monorail horns. I would love a whole video on monorail horns too if you were interested in doing a slightly different video.

I heartily agree. The little treats you could hear from the parking lot beckoning you into the park to find these magnificent steam whistles! Since you mention it, I am tempted to do a compilation of Monorail horns! I've got a few projects on my main burners at the moment but, have no fear, I will keep that in mind

Aha so this was the compilation you were talking about! That’s some swell work putting together each whistle variation. Seeing those older clips reminds me of how much I miss the original river route. Perhaps with time the trees will grow in on the current route
@WaltsNephew2 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! My rationale for giving the new route the shadow of the doubt is if the trees grow in well enough to add more shade and a "cozy" feel to the riverfront. Otherwise, the previous layout wins hands down in my book

I wish CK’s whistle at 0:48 would return. I’m guessing that was B pitch and the latter two were C and D pitch. Also I wish we still had the original route makes me miss it
@WaltsNephew2 жыл бұрын
Yes on all counts! On your point on Holliday's whistle, I really do miss the whistle we had before. Although, Cliff and John this morning were doing some REALLY good whistling that was very reminiscent of that glorious B-pitch whistle. Concerning the route, I truly miss the foliage along the River. Today it's just too stark and seems really out of place (especially considering you can see parts of the Star Wars ships in the distance)

Those little steam locomotives are nice little engines. I wonder how the Disneyland railroad would handle something like a 2-8-2 mikado if the little 4-4-0s and 4-6-0s begin to struggle on the trains.
@WaltsNephew2 жыл бұрын
So the DRR doesn't have any Ten-Wheelers, the WDWRR does. But even the DRR couldn't take a 4-6-0 wheel arrangement, let alone a Mikado, because of the curve radius within tunnels and the clearances above and aside the track. BUT it would be bizarre to see a large locomotive traverse Walt's tracks haha
@SouRwy4501Productions2 жыл бұрын
What about one fitted with lateral motion devices and built to a similar size to the existing locomotives?
@WaltsNephew2 жыл бұрын
Possibly... but I think, aesthetically, it wouldn't fit in with the rest of the roster

When I read that comment before heading over to Indy today, I was counting in my head and I think you're right! Ernest and Fred are tied for second, Ward comes in third and Ripley (thankfully) has stuck with the one beautiful whistle

@FoolishMortal01 This was right at the beginning of my 5 year hiatus from the Park so I had no idea Ernest wore a Holliday hand-me-down until just now hahaha Too similar to Ward
@SouRwy4501Productions2 жыл бұрын
Why did some of these sound like British Railways hooter whistles? Also, E. P. Ripley’s chime whistle sounded very similar to a Crosby 3 chime that would have been fitted to either a 70000 Britannia or a 5mt.
@WaltsNephew2 жыл бұрын
That's a really good question. I think since the English are practically our engineering cousins from across the pond, it's not unlikely certain whistles designs would emulate similar sounds
