This version of осенний сон is the best! You can sense the pent up emotion of the musicians. They are collectively telling us a powerful story!

I understand this was actually the last song the string ensemble played on the Titanic . Not the Hollywood idea! It is great played by the new white star orchestra

How did an English composer (who is never played nowadays in the uk) become so popular in Russia?

It comes from teaching art since very little age. All Soviet kids have been in drawing or music or sport hobbies. Kids grew up with reading world literature, attending classical music concerts, art galleries, movies etc. That's why.

Très belle valse entendue par les passagers du Titanic pendant que le paquebot sombrait

@Johnonorgan Also keep in mind that Harold Bride could have easily mistook this song title for another song that countless other witnesses claimed they have heard played. Also keep in mind that "Autumn" is a waltz, and many of the other witnesses claimed they heard the hymn "Nearer my God to thee" (BRITISH version) being played as the last piece, especially since a hymn at the end would be much more fitting as a prayer for everyone still on board at that time..."

@Johnonorgan And since the vast majority of the witnesses claimed that it actually WAS a hymn, then the last song was most likely the British version of "Nearer my God to thee", and NOT "Autumn."

"I Understand this was actually the last song the string ensemble played on the Titanic..." How do YOU know? Were you actually there? Only ONE PERSON testified that this was the song being played, and Harold Bride (that person) could have easily had song titles mixed up, especially since his knowledge of the outside world was limited on account that he was a wireless operator. After all, He was a trained meticulous observer with wireless equipment, NOT music.

There was a dance program, with all the songs listed in order, as was the custom at that time.
