Sorry for the poor audio, this record like most of the Soviet records I have is in rough shape.

It's quality is normal as for me. No cracks, no deep scratches, no bumps, so this music sounds normal. Only hissing caused by long exploitation of this disk or by playing it with metal needles.

Yes, it seems these records have been played a lot with steel needles. Many of these Soviet recordings have a lot of dynamic range, it goes from very quiet to very loud, which I haven't noticed in many other records. The very quiet passages make surface noise quite noticeable.

@@toomanyinterests According to Soviet advices printed on many of disks' sleeves playing disks that were played using steel needles in not safe for needle while using cartrige needles. Yes, noice is noticeable when the music is too quiet or song isn't permanent so you can hear a noice during pauses.

@@aleksey_gorlanov Most of my Soviet records don't have the sleeves so I didn't know that, the one or two I do have don't have much writing on them. I've never heard to not play records with a more modern stylus that have been played with a steel needle before. Maybe a softer sapphire stylus could get worn by a rough 78? With the much lighter tracking it shouldn't do that much harm, and even the sapphire will be much harder than the steel.

@@toomanyinterests Now I checked my Soviet sleeves and it looks like I mixed up advices on it, so I am sorry. I was confident that this 'advice' exists but now I can only read "Don't use used steel needles", "Don't use steel needles and gramofon for 33 rpm disks" and "Play 33 rpm disks with special sapphire needle". The funniest thing is that I have used 'advice' for about a year and avoided playing old disks with my radiogram's needle. Silly me. Many of Soviet 78's sleeves has no text on them, only an "Апрелевский завод" logo. I have 2 or 3 with Moscow Kremling drawings on them and advices on the back side. The most interesting sleeve I have is "Покупайте пластинки с фантазиями на темы русских былин" sleeve. "Guaranteed harvest" (not the best translation at all) disk has this sleeve. It has much of text on it. It is here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZoGWemqKfpZjrM0

@@aleksey_gorlanov That's alright, I misremember things often. Oh well, it's better to be a little bit more cautious than less! The few Soviet sleeves I have just have one line of text on the top, and "CCCP Made in the Soviet-Union" on the bottom, with nothing on the back. The "Покупайте пластинки с фантазиями на темы русских былин" sleeve is very interesting, it both has a lot of text and some nice illustrations. I have some record sleeves with illustrations but most are just advertising for products, Brunswick's earlier record sleeves are beautiful though. Their earlier electrical recording record sleeves have an arch of bolts of electricity at the top, it looks very nice.
