This film blew me away when I saw some months ago, and the cinema went completely silent in the final scene, and I've never experienced an errie awe like that before. Breathtaking.

Saw this movie when it came out. Brought back memories of my time in Iraq ( LSA Anaconda Balad with the 18th Airb. corp. attached to the 484 transportation unit out of Arizona and California I was their regular army Liason we ran lots of convoys) now I revisited and man it hits the same.there is no glory in war but it’s inevitable. Hopefully peace arrives soon.

I don't understand how anyone can come out after watching this movie without a deep resentment of American/Israeli imperialism and war crimes. And this was a brilliant movie, a true masterpeice 5/5. Lastly it is important to remember Israel is a disgrace to Israelis, and by no means represents the Jewish people. There are countless Jews who are apalled by Israel's atrocities, opression, and massacre of a defenseless people, living under foreign occupation.

Yes, it's one of Chopin's Waltz's, but it's not on the main soundtrack of the movie. ON the soundtrack they just have the Bach track that's played during the psychological experiment scene and the RPG shooting child scene.

@PersianMarxist i thought this movie was pretty politically neutral. it's more of an introspective analysis on conflict, defense mechanisms and human nature rather than the policies of two specific countries.

The movie is about the human experience of war, can't you put your ethnic biases aside even for something that talks about the pain those biases bring for all sides? I enjoy movies that remind us that soldiers are human.

Hey, I think you commenters are getting all wrong. This is a movie about experiences, not a series of political statements so you can discuss. Ari Folman made something so incredibly beautiful with such horrific material to start. Only enlighted and wise people can reach that point, where they´re able to transform their true life nightmares and give back to the world this amazing piece of art and humanism.

It's a Bach song, it's on the main soundtrack of the film. Basically it's during the scene that you mentioned.

Do you not remember Damour Lebanon. Let me remind you. Arafat and the PLO plunged Lebanon into "massacres, rape, mutilation, rampages of looting and killings. Out of a population of 3.2 million, some 40,000 or more people had been killed, 100,000 wounded, 5,000 permanently maimed

I agree. But once past is unavoidable, and what´s done cannot be undone, I cannot imagine a better thing to do. What I´ve seen in "normal" (I don´t mean inferior) people which been through these horrors, is denial by different paths. Some people hide behind the so called glorification of sacrifice. Others hold on very tight and agressively to a flag, and its principles. And some others live just because simply they´re not dead. Yeah, it´s sad that something like this has to exist.

Saad Haddad died in the early 80's of cancer. He was a great man. The Lebanese Forces gave their weapons to the Lebanese govt when the war ended, as did the other militias, except of course for the traitors hizbollah. The only weapons the LF etc keep now are held by individuals in their own homes in case the need arose for self defence. Although i am sure many are buying more arms, since hizbollah keep threatening other Lebanese.

WOW! This movie is so good. I think all people who are forced to kill other living creatures (people or dogs) have to be messed up. It' s not in our nature to kill. Only psychopaths can do it and go to sleep as if nothing happened. It makes me sad to think of all these young people out there killing "before they even shaved". A must see. Also see "Taking Chance".

It kinda is in our nature to kill if you look at how cain killed abel and then at all the wars man has had in its time killing has been apart of human life almost forever its not just psychopaths who can kill and go on killing is sadly something that gets easier to do as over the time you do the longer you do the more you start to adapt to it not that that wont mess youre mind up tho

yes, they are the most powerful at the moment. But do not be fooled into thinking that the rest of Lebanon bow down to whatever they want. They kept their militia, the rest of us disarmed. But hizbollah know damn well that they cannot take over Lebanon. Every household in Lebanon have weapons for self defence. Last year hizbollah invaded many areas of Lebanon. In the mountains hizbollah lost a few men to the Druze. They must be careful...

greed? oh rightttt, greed. my friend, greed is what you call PLO officials pocketing money from israel meant for the palestinian people. greed is the continuance of a fight that keeps the palestinians impoverished, rather than commiting your resources to building a state in the copious amounts of land given. greed is hamas using people as human sheilds. of course theres greed on the israeli side (west bank settlements?) but the palestinians have their own problems to settle.

i see where you're coming from, but israel and its israelis want to keep its jewish identity. there's muslim, hindu, and christian states, and israel wants a religious identity too. this would not be fair if there were a majority muslim population which there would definitely be (israeli development since its creation has made the land much more developed than the land around it). european countries do the same thing when they try to keep their "identity", and the U.S. used to do the same thing.

i have some good friends whom are druze, and they r wonderfull people, who care about nothing but minding their own business. what did hizbullah want from them??? i know how horrible it is to live in a country next to hizbullah. never thought how it is 4 the people in labanon, having to live under their regme. ur painting a really sad picture of lebanon. i hope u'd never have to use wepons to defend urself. hope all will end peacefully.

its not that simple, though. a return of that many refugees would be the end of israel, and although that is what many people want, it's definitely not what israel wants. the insistence on this right is what's keeping the palestinian people in endless turbulence. if the palestinian state is achieved, then those refugees will have a place to go rather than camps in lebanon and jordan and elsewhere. but for the state to be formed the leaders have to get their act together and stop blaming the past

as far as we in israel know, Hizbullah under Iran is in charge in lebanon. perhaps they are not the majority, but they are definitely the ones in charge. i believe under christian leadership , lebanon wouldn't have been in a much better place today. while our country seeks for nothing but living in peace, i believe chrsitians would share the goal of peace and would have brought some stability to the region. but its just a fantasy, radical islam is incharge of lebanon...

It's a shame that people are bored enough to post "Free Palestine" all over the net instead of going on to actually DO something with their poor life, which are already torn apart because of child abuse and them being inbred. So they can't do anything with their lives and decide to post spam all over the webz so people will think they actually have an opinion about something they don't know shit in. at least that's my opinion. Good Day Gentlemen oh and pssst, it's a movie!

you act like the "extreme measures" will accomplish anything. if there's anything so certain in this conflict, it's that moderates on both sides will end it, not the crazies you hold to be heroes. all this anti-zionism might not be anti-semitism, but it is interesting that people love to condemn israel when millions are dying all over the world. those are catastrophes, but you'd rather ignore those people and attack the jews first. israel has problems, but leave your biases in the middle ages.
