I remember in an interview with George that, after he realized the shot scenes weren't working, someone commented to him about how less can be more, like in JAWS. As such, not seeing the Wampa can be just as terrifying as seeing it. Now, in retrospective, if the scenes did make it into the movie, I think they would have felt out of place. You have this "movie monster" moment that, technically, doesn't last too long injected into this space opera epic. It just doesn't feel like it would have made the movie flow as well as it does now. The way it is in the movie feels just right because it's Luke trying to use the force to escape this situation he's in and us finding out how much he's already capable of.

I definitely think the Snowtrooper and Wampa scenes would have added too much comedy to a tense and serious scene. I mean that whole scene is hilarious. This random snowtrooper is pulled in, his comrade quickly closes the door, and Vader comes up to him like "what the fuck is going on here?" and the snowtrooper is like "all under control" as his comrade is being eaten alive on the other side. Its like something out of Robot Chicken.

Well with Uncle George doing “Special Editions” down our throats, some more effects with the Wampas would of been amazing. I remember as a kid the Wampas scaring the hell out of me.
