BEST video I've ever seen on compressor pedals. Compressors are so hard to showcase because there is so much feel to them. This was so incredibly well done, thank you!

Just got done comparing the SP to the full size Ego and am completely sold on both for different reasons. The default setting for switch 3 is up which takes away the SP's best attribute; The sparkle highs you can get on the SP with the switch 3 in the down position are amazing and sounded so good on my humbuckers. The Ego on the other hand with its more fine tunable compression is my choice for heavier compression needs. Their both equally quiet when powered off of my Zuma. If I had to pick one for adding clean boost and chime it'd be the SP for sure, it is in no way dark at all. If I had to pick one for thicker higher compression applications it'd be the Ego. I'm keeping them both. If I had to pick just one for everything instead of keeping them both I would probably go with the SP because that treble boost is amazing and it can deliver all of the compression anyone needs.

Agreed, the Sp Comp is a great utility pedal which I have. However it's biggest handicap are those damn dip switches. When I'm changing between humbuckers and single coil it's a pain to pull it off my board, unscrew the back, adjust and reinstall on my board.
@nuthinbutlove7 ай бұрын
Yes, I just watched a semi vid between those two and I couldn't agree more. I'm thinking I'll start with the SP but I'm time I may wind up with the Ego. I love the warm depth and thicker compression it delivers. May be more suitable for my single coils which I don't use much right now.
@nuthinbutlove7 ай бұрын
@@randysosa7616once I learned of those switches just the thought of dealing with them kept me from purchasing the SP, but I'm going to break down and grab it in hopes of finding the sweet setting without too much hassle, and that the one setting works with all my axes.

Excellent job! You played the same thing each time with no effect, pedal A and pedal B and let the pedals speak for themselves. I wish everyone used this method in head-to-head videos. Thank you!

Wampler for me because I don’t have to mess with dip switches. I’m amazed that Xotic made it so difficult to get to the adjustments. Both sound great, but becaus I have to open the thing up to make adjustments it is a no go on the Xotic. Wonderful job comparing the pedals. So helpful playing the exact same riffs. So many of these videos are inconsistent in the comparisons, but yours are perfect.

Thanks for doing this vid. I have a full size Ego but was debating on which mini to get....Both sound good, but the internal dip switch thing on the SP is enough for me to go with the Wampler.

Wampler Ego all the way. Easy to use. Sounds soooooooooo good. Brighter and a very quiet pedal. But more money than the SP Xotic but I do not care. You can really rely on this Company. Brian Wampler is the King of Tone. Wampler is the best from the west.

Thank you. You just gave me back an hour plus of my life. The color of both effects is really personal taste but, now I see that the low hum of the Wampler is acceptable to me but, the high hiss and the dip switches of the Xotic are a no go for me. And actually I will get a full Wampler Ego because I realize I want the extra dialing capability. Again, many thanks for a great comparison demo!

Phenomenal video. Love seeing the humbuckerz. They sound better with fast attack on, imo. It just makes them so clean, crisp and warm. Especially for semi-hollow.

@@MusicBlissMalaysiaTV Thanks. This info is really good for me. So you think the Ego is better for the country guitar sound than the SP?
@thebigcountry67575 жыл бұрын
The dip switches tucked inside the SP is what makes me uncomfortable. More to fiddle with and in a inconvenient place. I mean you have to take the cover off and flip it over. Other than that. I have no prob with the sound of it. Have had both the Ego and SP stewing in my shopping cart for days trying to decide. Looks like Ego wins ! Beside Ego does sound very nice anyway.

@MusicBlissMalaysiaTV7 жыл бұрын
Not really....of course it's a subjective thing....depends on your setup...if you're using single coils, or if you're gain stacking with the compressor on, the noise floor will definitely increase...

Can i just say, compressors don't sound good. What they do is serve a purpose in the context of a song. They are to control dynamics. Everyone knows this. To me, it's a compromise in tone in order to serve the song.
