So, this Paisley guy tells a few jokes on Netflix and he gets his own pedal? The second one even.... weird... maybe there is more to him than meets the eye...
In any case, this pedal is the butteriest thing on the market right now... just great tones all around!

Regarding the "fat switch", you'll need to have the gain up quite a bit to notice it - it's going to tighten the bottom end a bit, and add a bit of a gain boost

Brad Paisley is a touring country musician! One of the only country musicians who hasn’t gone all the way into “modern” country music which is basically country rock. He did that comedy special on Netflix but isn’t really a comedian. Well I guess he could be but his first profession would be a badass country Guitarist. Check him out! Nervous Breakdown by Brad Paisley.

Channel 1 is not just based off of the original Nobels ODR-S, it IS the Nobels ODR-S circuit. The Nobels was Brad's go to pedal as well as many other Nashville cats (such as Pat Buchanan) for years. Wampler made a limited run of the Underdog Overdrive (ODR-S) several years ago. It was a great pedal and Mr. Wampler got a lot of requests to make it again but clone pedals weren't his thing, so he never did. Finally he agreed to do it as half of the Paisley Deluxe. I hope this clears it up.

If you have to use different input/output to run Ch1 into Ch2, or Ch2 into Ch1, what is the point of having the toggle switch on the pedal? If the wiring determines the sequence, the toggle switch is useless and shouldn't be there. Unless I am missing something?

it has nothing to do with trs splitters! why would you need them it is literally two pedals in one with seperate jacks for each, unless I am missing something why would adding a switch make it more pure?
@wampler_pedals
@wampler_pedals 6 жыл бұрын
Good question Steve 😊. We wanted the ability to change 1 into 2, or 2 into 1 (which is easily done without swapping cables). The problem came in because we also wanted to retain the ability to make it two separate pedals as well, without using stereo jacks and Y connectors (which not only look funky as hell, but can be a huge pain if one of them goes out since most people don't carry spare Y connectors, and there isn't as much of a variety available like there are standard guitar patch cables). We could have used a switching IC, which is sort of similar to a flip-flop electronic switch style like Boss uses (but not true bypass). We could have used several more relays, but it would have drove the price up even more. Yes, the relays would have added another $10-15 to the cost of the parts, BUT - you have to remember how pedals are priced with margins, and what that does to the cost. If you don't know what I mean, here's the way pedal prices work: Cost to build the pedal, + company profit margin, + distributor profit margin, + retailer profit margin, + taxes, +shipping, + importing fees... at the end of the day, that $10-15 could end up being another $40-50 easily to the final price of the pedal. That's crazy. So, in my mind, the best thing to do was make it like this, assuming that most people playing the pedal aren't going to be switching the order all the time in the middle of a gig. Most people set it, and forget it. So der ya go. 😊
@steveclay6620
@steveclay6620 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the explanation - I understand how a dollar in manufacturing cost can translate to 4 at retail. I have a Wampler Paisley overdrive, and it is a very good pedal! With the "1-->2 or 2-->1" switch, I guess I was expecting it to behave more like pedals like the D&M Drive: 2 channels, 1 input, 1 output, and a toggle to determine which channel is first. Of course, it is not possible to route the channels separately on the D&M Drive, while it is possible on the Wampler Deluxe. Different design goals: 2 channels in one peda (one signal path)l vs 2 independent pedals each with their own signal path. I can see how flexible the Wampler design is, especially if one is using a pedal switcher. Thanks again for the clarification!

You know, Brian makes some head-scratching choices with some of his features - sometimes bordering on lazy. For instance, on the Faux Tape Echo V2, the tap tempo sets the tempo, right? But then as you tap the subdivision button, the LED flashes in time with the new delay time, rather than sticking on the quarter note you just tapped out. It's an odd and confusing choice and they deleted my question on the Facebook page about it. The mods over there are overly sensitive... Anyway, I like Wampler's pedals, but I'm starting to see him more as a nice guy that builds "meh" pedals. I guess that's okay.

I agree that the pedal sounds smooth and buttery but with those wiring issues and the fat switch that seems to do nothing I don´t think I will be buying it any time soon. As for the St Vincent guitar, I have been gassing for it since it first came out but my problem is there is nowhere that I can try one here in the wilderness of Northern Spain. I assume you will do a revue of it before too long and one point critical for me is neck dive. Would you address this issue in the revue please Henning? It has such a small, thin body, it looks like it should be a diver. The body style reminds me of a John Paul Gautier scent bottle, very Art Deco but super cool. So good to see you back after Guitcon which was outstanding viewing but it is nice to see you back to normal. My only criticism of Guitcon is that even though there has been a flood of videos, so many are similar, I guess that is inevitable. My favourites are from Gearmanndude, nice and quirky, TTK and Phill McKnight and David Walliman. Pete Thorn is a great player as we already knew and Phill X, what a star! Biggest fail, Jason the Bassman, much too full of himself. Regards from Spain as ever.

@EytschPi42 6 жыл бұрын
+Christopher Jeneson what is neck dive?
@christopherjeneson5333
@christopherjeneson5333 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Henning, neck dive is where the body of a guitar is outweighed by the headstock and neck so that when the guitar is played on the knee or even in some cases, on a strap the neck wants to point to the floor. This means you have to support the neck instead of your hand gliding over the strings. I have a couple that do it, one is the Harley Benton DC Custom, the newer SG shape and I believe some SG´s suffer from the same problem. The other is my Gretsch Streamliner, the 2655 small body with Bigsby, being semi hollow the body is very light! With such a, what appears to be small body and not overly thick I wondered if the St Vincent may be a little unbalanced? I believe some have a Rosewood neck which could make the problem worse. By the way, please call me Chris, you are not the only one to give his channel a name before realising the consequences!

It's a real shame about that fizzly sound you mention at 16:50. I do expect a pedal that costs over 300 dollars to NOT have that kind of defect. I really hope they fix that, because I've been really excited about this pedal up until now.
@EytschPi42
@EytschPi42 6 жыл бұрын
+Jörgen Halläng I don’t think it is s defect. Some overdrive do this when you have them set at lower gain. I would to go channel 2 for that and leave channel 1 at a slightly higher setting... it’s not s defect but just the way th drive top of the guitar signal.

You don't need to switch around anything. you could do it with AB->Y foot switch. Some pros would probably do it with one of those switcher floor-boards that the 'That Pedal Show' guys do. In general the 1->2 / 2->1 configurations in Wampler pedals are more of a preference thing, people usually set it to either of the settings and leave it there.

Wampler Pedals I just dont think usa made guarantees better quality this day and age. In fact the manufacturing work ethic and quality control in other countries are in many cases superior. If you ask a chinese manufacturer to build a cheap pedal with crappy cheap components they will build it as good as any us manufacturer. Ask them to build your premium quality pedal and they will do it for less. The real question is would you mark down the price in the correct proportions. But thats another issue.

Supporting these type of amazing places with people who care about music and gear working in them is surely worth paying for? What your saying is what they want you to believe so you can feel good about paying too much. All the parts going in to these pedals are made in china or korea or indonesia etc. Wampler follows us stooges if we demand cheaper he will head to china in the blink of an eye.
