Sounds great. Normally you can place a Big Muff whereever you want in the chain. Regular Fuzzez should be placed directly first, but with the Muffs I like mine after my Overdrives as well. Why has been described by Josh from JHS in his video about Fuzzez 🙂 Good Job here!!!

Thanks for the comment and watching! I think I should do a quick demo showing how an OD after this OP Amp sounds, which to me, didn't sound good at all. Maybe a different OD than the Tumnus might work better after the OP Amp, I'll experiment more. But yes, other fuzzes typically go at the very beginning of a chain for sure.

Fuzz face style 2 transistor circuits go at the front, muffs go wherever you want, and typically sound better with a buffer in front.

These 2 sound great together

The reason why a Big Muff does not need to be first in the chain (and this is the same for ANY Big Muff or similar circuit), is to do with the complexity of the circuit/gain stages. The Fuzzes that have to be first in the chain are the 2 , to 3 Transistor based fuzzes (Fuzzfaces, etc) because because of the simple layout, but a big Muff has more stages and transistors/op amps, so it is less affected by what is before. a Big Muff is more like a distortion in terms of its circuit topology. There is of course a more specific reasoning behind this , but this is the basic idea. I think Josh Scott explains this in more detail on the JHS channel, in a Fuzz video

Thanks for that response! I always knew about the little rule about putting the fuzz first in your chain, it was one of those things I heard about but nobody ever explained why. Of course over time I found there are exceptions to that rule from my own trial and error by hearing good/bad placement, but the transistor thing makes sense.

Sounds great, my Muff sounds pretty dull and lifeless without an Od in front. I do a lot of grunge inspired stuff and really like the grind this combo produces. This Klon type (?) od works really nicely but I prefer a ts type slightly more in the mix!

aye yes the Tumnus is a Klon clone. And I agree, a Tubescreamer in front of a fuzz is an absolute classic combo. I haven't even done a demo on the Tubescreamer or using the TS combined with anything yet so thanks for that reminder that I need to. Keep GRUNGING on friend!

Because some FUZZ can't have a buffer in front of them, like FUZZFACE, Black cat OD-1. So people will make this kind of advice, but I personally don’t think OD after fuzz it sounds good.

Yeah the buffer is one reason, and most fuzz pedals will go in front of your entire chain altogether, before OD/distortion. You can use fuzz pedals after OD/distortion as well, but it depends. This combo and order works nice.

Tumnus is a great OD pedal.

100% it's great on its own or I can throw it in front of practically any other OD or dist/fuzz and it pairs really well.

I like my OP amp Muff, but its the only one I have. I think it would make a great 3rd or 4th fuzz, but its not super versatile. I like putting my Morning Glory v4 before it.

I still need to get me a Morning Glory!

@@RIFFpost I have not tried any other Blues Breaker circuits, but I really like it a lot. I have it paired with an Op amp fuzz, a Halberd v2, and a good ole cheap Joyo Vintage drive for a boost then my signal goes to stereo and I have it going into a Deco V2 (best pedal ever). I plan on adding a comp soon and probably a more versatile fuzz, or maybe just a cheap Rat clone. I dont real have a type of music I play, I can go from country to Doom.

@@masterofreality230 Adding a comp to your chain there will do some magic. I'm not sure how much you are willing to spend on a compressor but I know Amazon makes one for $30 that I heard is decent. Behringer makes one for about the same price too. If you're willing to spend a little more the MXR Dyna Comp is always a good choice.
