Hmmm that's pretty false you can't excel to be the best basketball player without being tall, you can't be a chess genius at 12 without being bless with high iq, you can't win the Olympic swimming competition 1st place without being bless with long arms for better swimming techniques. I'm not saying that hard work won't get you good at these but talent does exist and someone could do 2x better than you with half the effort solely because they were blessed with such qualities. Like it or not that's life. Hard work is important but a 5'1 individual will never beat lebron james, an average iq person will never beat Magnus Carlson, etc.

@@monjyotiboro. I rather think she thinks she's smart but if I would have to estimate then she would range between the 70th and 80th percentile Given the fact that she had *to learn* that she isn't as smart as she thought she is leads to the conclusion that there was some kind of Dunning-Kruger effect involved which is incredibly common for -midwits- people I've seen that with several people that got to know in high school and later studied with them at Uni. All of the people who really thought they were smart (or the smartest) struggled incredibly while the other who didn't bother too much or truely understood their advanced abilities did very well Just as a side note: not all who have brains are humble about it but most certainly the majority of them or are pretty accurate in their self-assessement

hi I really appreciate you taking the time to make such long videos and deeply explaining things but it's honestly pretty daunting having 20 min videos to watch. I feel like 10 mins is a good run time for a video and your videos did better when they were that long. Just a suggestion ❤
@wamyy5
@wamyy5 21 күн бұрын
Hi! Thanks so much for your suggestion! I appreciate any and all feedback because it's really helpful to me :) Might I ask why the longer length is daunting? Is it because your time to consume content is limited? Do you think I say some things (like in this video) that may be not super important that I could cut down on? Any details would be fantastic! I'm working on helping my audience increase their attention spans too and I was thinking that more details might help stories stick more, but maybe you're right that people want shorter! Thanks so much!
@retrieversky
@retrieversky 20 күн бұрын
@@wamyy5 it probably is due to the small attention span. It's a great idea to try and increase it! Whenever I see a 20 min video I'll usually put it off for later since I don't feel like spending so much time at that moment on that topic. Even when I do end up watching it, I barely ever watch it completely through. I'll skip around a bit and listen to tid bits but for some reason when the run time is 10 mins I'm much more inclined to listen to the whole thing. Might be a psychological thing. I think subconsciously I've also picked up that a 20 min video would be spent on 3 tips. Those videos like 20 tips in 20 mins or something of that sort have the same run time but definitely capture the audience's attention and leave them more likely to 1. click on the video and watch it in the moment and 2. watch the whole video. I feel like the essence of the tips you give is in the explanations and details so it's great that you're spending time on it. I just feel like your earlier videos like being a straight A student, how to do well in math, etc had a lot of content and sufficient explanation to it as well.
@retrieversky
@retrieversky 20 күн бұрын
@@wamyy5 there's a KZbin channel i came across recently called AlphaLemon which also makes content on productivity. I love the format of their videos. Straight advice, no fluff. They'll give you a tip, explain why it's important briefly but sufficiently and move on to the next thing. At the end of the video I really appreciate it and would even consider rewatching to digest the information even more.
@wamyy5
@wamyy5 20 күн бұрын
@@retrieversky thank you for being so detailed in your sharing! That makes sense. I think for topics like this that require a few stories, the video comes out longer. I just value stories so much and my audience comments that too about liking my story times so that’s why I include them. I think that it’s one thing to have a bunch of tips with brief explanation but another to use stories to move the viewer to internalize it and act due to feeling fired up. Hence my “straight A’s NO MATTER WHAT” video was also longer since it had stories and appeared to impact more people. Thoughts on this perspective?

I have a competetive exam coming where you have to answer 60 questions in 30 mins. There is only 1 published mock test and only 5 or so of mock tests from elsewhere. I really need to practice my timing but have such less material and only 3 weeks more left for the exam. What do I do????

Hi amy, you say you get 8 hours of sleep, I was just wondering what time you normally go to bed and normally wake up just out of curisosity to see if I can start my junior year of highschool a bit better 😅😅

That first point you mention, the way you pose it … “you are probably smarter than me”; give yourself some credit!! I am also guilty to this but to me at least, I don’t know if you are doing to be “realistic” with your abilities, or you just downplay your accomplishments! I know you have probably thought about this your whole childhood to now, always comparing yourself I suppose given the competitive environments you were in. Nonetheless, I feel that your mindset could cause those “mishaps” of periods of time where you might lack the purpose or incentive to do something, because you might feel unworthy of a challenging subject. As I said, I downplay my efforts as well, but seeing someone do it to themselves makes me think how silly I was to be doing that in the first place!! At the end of the day, I very much agree with your message. Of course natural intelligence can help, but it’s mostly environmental! The nature of being a high functioning individual pinned against the nurture of learning the right techniques or approaches in a specified subject, or being surrounded by those who are naturally intelligent and they make you develop a more sophisticated perspective, thus allowing you to grow. Nice video overall, but please I can tell you are very self critical to yourself, and perhaps over time, you have managed to logically dismantle those silly claims of “I am not capable” or “I am just not good enough”. But no doubt, the evidence of you still saying “you are probably smarter than me” is an indicator that you still find yourself in those moments of feeling unworthy!! I guess acknowledgement and reflection is what I’m suggesting.

I feel like what’s holding me back the most is that I don’t know how to study properly. I feel like I write all these summaries and revise them later on but nothing is sticking…

Hey Amy, Theres just one question that i have, its that im SO READY to work hardand work as much as it takes for me to be the student of my dreams... But one thing that i have in middle is that there is this one classmate of mine, who NO MATTER how less time she studies, she just "manages" to get the perfect score...lik everyone including me, would be scoring 89-90... she'll be freaking scoring 98-99... What am i supposed to do, when there is something that's just so THERE...idk what to do... So its just, idk if trying is worth it...

Some people can retain a lot of information in class. I am just like you. My friends just listen in class and get a perfect score and me who have to prepare for hours, however still getting a few questions wrong. So it feels like I am just a burden on this world

ngl i had the same problem although slightly different. so my friend, she has perfect pitch. her 10mins of hard work was the same as ten days of work for me when it came to playing the piano. the other day i broke down at home because of that. and instead of consoling me my mom was like shut up about it and go practise harder then. so moral of the story make that person be a competitor in your mind and try to beat her. hope this helped :)
