I like how this game starts you off falling off a cliff, get rescued, and then they tell you to go farm

Why do they all sound like they want to scam that little girl ?? "Oh you just got here? Let me tell you how to make money by farming", "You seem like a scavenger, please clean our town for free !", "Join our guild ! Btw I'm the only one left due to unforeseen circumstances." or is it just me ?

I'd agree with the assessment, but with this caveat: The writing feels similar to other poorly translated games, I've played a few games of Chinese origin, where the translation also feels like this one before they could afford a better translator.

Planet Crafter is a game I've played recently that isn't exactly about reclaiming a post-apocalyptic wasteland but it is about transforming an uninhabitable world into a habitable one.

If you want a farming game where your actions help clean up the place, check out Coral Island. Your actions help with restoring the island after an ecological disaster. Just added multiplayer in beta branch.

This mix of gardening and battle reminds me of Sakuna: Of Rice And Ruin, and how I have yet to complete it. I kinda boned myself at some point with no previous saves so I've been procrastinating restarting the game. It's so much fun though and rather cheap during sales. Another more on the side of making everything flourish from nothing: Wildmender. You start revitalizing an oasis and the fighting is a much more forgiving and simplified version of Zelda BotW (shield reflect, flurry parry). Supports multiplayer so if you haven't given it a try, maybe Ms.Wander would like to accompany you on that journey

On the topic of post-apocalyptic games and wanting to reclaim the waste, I find Fallout particularly egregious and the fact that everything you make is pre-rusted and junkified is the least of it. If I recall correctly, the lore of the setting is that the bombs fell centuries ago, yet people are still living in bomb craters. No one has done anything to meaningfully rebuild or to try and setup a new civilization. Even the fact that everything is still a wasteland is painful, since nature should have been adapting and reclaiming those lands.
@erifichunКүн бұрын
not just a bomb. nuclear bombs... as in nuclear radiation... which makes it.. near impossible for the majority of nature to thrive until the radiation is cleared out... which is not the case in fallout..
@EpsilonRosePersonalКүн бұрын
@@erifichun You'd be surprised what nature can deal with. The areas around Chernobyl, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki are all quite full of life. Also, the radiation from nuclear bombs doesn't stick around /that/ long. Again, we're talking about centuries here. But even setting aside the radiation issue, it's still weird that they'd be living in a bomb crater, with an unexploded bomb, that's still completely exposed, after more than a few years. The radiation is not stopping them from building things or improving their situation.

Listening to you while you are playing anything (by yourself) is exactly, and I mean exactly, like listening to my own brain, and it's so weird. But hey, I like my brain, so it's all good. 👍😆

I tried this demo a while ago, the look of the game caught my attention and it looked like it might be heavy on action - even though I am NOT a fan of "gardening" games. And I think they have altered the tags from what it was initially under. After about 20 min of trying to figure out how to do the "planting" stuff I was done. Lol. I don't think I have the patience for these types of games, not a fan... So was interesting to see the way it "should" have been played. 😊

You talked a bit about genres of games needing to do it better or iniquely enough to distinguish itself from the original. I think there are still a lot of genres that never got a fair shake out there that I'd like to see get a fully fleshed out game, but I suppose that they aren't popular alrrady ap no one wants to invest in them.
@reverse_engineeredКүн бұрын
I really prefer when you do these kind of videos where you already know the game and you can explain it. I think it's unfair to other games that the only view people get of it is you trying to figure it out and often misexplaining it because you misunderstand. It also feels like it's wasting the audience's time a bit by spending a lot of time trying to figure out the game and not a lot of time actually playing it and showing it off. I realize it takes more time if you have to play the game twice - once to figure it out and again to show it off - but I think that's a necessary part of the job if you want to make good content.

This is a slight tangent, but I don't like it when a game self-assesses itself as 'cozy'. I have come to associate it with boring and aimless (in marketing context). Which is why it's a shame when there's a cool game and I go in with these preconceptions and brush it off as slop while browsing.
@RolandOnnaRiver2 күн бұрын
Well, what would you call them? 🤔 Marketers can't just make up genres, you know. They have to use words the audience already understands.
