Thank you so much for the lovely virtual visit to Frome! Some years ago, genealogical research revealed that my earliest Barnes family ancestor here in America came from there. A boy of sixteen, he sailed to New York with his parents and numerous siblings in 1848. They all returned to Frome after a time, except for my great-great-grandfather Charles Barnes, who made a go of it alone here in Upstate New York. It is unlikely he ever saw his family again. I am aware that many of the descendants of that Barnes family still reside in and around Frome; I have no reason to believe that any of them are aware they have an enormous contingent of distant cousins in the States. One day, I would like to visit Frome and say "hello." :-)

The nicer area of the town is really very small! If you’re around the area I’d more recommend visiting places like Bath, or Castle Combe and Lacock are a couple of beautiful villages 😊
