Just a little more context to the Eagles Santa Incident. There was a massive snowstorm the night before and the stadium crew was only able to clear a little bit of the stadium, most of the seats were still covered in snow when fans arrived. Also, because of the snow storm, the original guy to play Santa couldn't make it to the stadium, so the Eagles entertainment team pulled some drunk scrawny twenty-something who was dressed as Santa out of the stands. As the halftime show started, the float then gets stuck in the mud causing a delay. So between the snow covered seats, the shitty season, freezing cold weather, and now a drunk skinny Santa running down the field, the fans began to throw snowballs. At which point, replacement Santa decided to start taunting the crowd, screaming they were now getting coal in their stockings, causing the incident to escalate. It should be noted though, the replacement Santa, the late Frank Olivo, has stated repeatedly that he had a blast during the whole incident and was quite proud of being the Santa to piss of the Philly fans.

I am sorry for the tourist trap lies. Once upon a time, there were exactly two good cheesesteak places in the city, Pat's and Geno's. Then everyone who worked at either place who knew how to make a good cheesesteak scattered to start their own restaurant, leaving behind two empty holes with advertising budgets and nothing worth eating. It's been more than thirty years since either of the famous two made a meal that was better than, "fine".

See here's the thing about the philly cheesestakes you can't go to a place. The place has to appear to you. It has to either be a food truck or the greesyest spoon dinner. No decorations, barely a sign & if you slightly fear for your life, you know that is the place to eat a cheesestake. It will be the grossest most amazing thing you have ever eaten.

I don’t really comment all that much, but I just needed to say something. As a relatively recent convert to the Vlogs, I just cannot express the immense joy they have been brining to me, even in such a short span of time. The amount of time, effort, care, and consideration that go into the production, filming, and editing can only be a powerfully daunting, and thankless task. I can only hope that it is work that Graham truly wants to undertake, but even still the amount of pure artistry and fun within these videos are awe inspiring. Not to mention putting yourself, your life, and your incredible presence and wit through the churning crucible that is the internet is nothing short of inspirational and deeply humbling. Life is just a bit better knowing that, while painstakingly crafted, it also feels exceedingly genuine. Which speaks volumes as to the caliber of person is on the other end of the phone camera. Keep it up Graham, you are doing incredible work!

When I still went to conventions, I could tell how much I enjoyed them by the sense of sadness I felt as I left and came to terms with it being over. The last time I felt that was back in 2018...until right now. Somehow this vlog gave me that same sense of anticipation, discovery, amusement, moderate letdown and major redemption that tends to happen over a full weekend; and I feel that same sadness now that I've watched it all and realize this particular trip is over. Fun fact: Philadelphia's City Hall, the building you walk through near the end of the video, is the largest freestanding masonry structure in the world. At one point they considered demolishing to create a more centrally located city hall (because center city is actually pretty far south compared to the whole of philly) but it would have been far, far too expensive to demolish.

The thing about "Santa deserved it" is that partly because of that incident Philadelphia has a reputation as having the worst sports fan in the US. And even though far worse things have occurred in other cities related to sports (e.g. literally people murdering each other in a parking lot over a sports rivalry), whenever anything bad occurs at a sports event in Philadelphia the Santa incident is brought up as evidence that it's "typical Philly fans". And I guess when a reputation is not allowed to die, the only thing you can do is lean into it. Hence "Santa deserved it".

In my opinion, as a Pittsburgher (and thus somebody whose opinion on anything Philly is inherently suspect if not outright heretical)...Cheesesteaks aren't mind-blowing, you shouldn't expect them to be. They're just a good sandwich. They won't change you're life but it's meat and cheese and some veggies on bread. It's a solid sandwich. Honestly, the touristy cheesteak spaces impressed me less when I was there than the kind of place you saw at the Terminal market or local restaurants. The cheesesteak is like a chicken parm, it's not meant to be the star of a massive production it's just the kind of thing where you're like....yeah, I could go for a chicken parm. I could have a cheese steak.

Like, I had...one of Geno's or Pats when I was in Philly as a tourist once, it's a Tourist Rite of Passage thing in Philly, but the one I remember more was the pretty decent vegan cheesesteak my wife managed to get at a local sandwich place. Which, if you think about it, is a real marvel of modern technology.
