I did something similar, but instead of the male fittings, I used shut-off valves. Did the same for the kitchen faucet when I upgraded it. That way, if one leaks, it can be isolated and the rest can be used.

Thank You for the heads up about the Brasscraft from Home Depot. My hot water spigot under my kitchen sink started leaking and I didn’t want to wait for the swivel seals from Amazon so I went and got two of them and because I was small enough for the 14 inch wide cabinet, I got them both changed out and back up and running in 30 minutes. Your video makes sense, just had the same thing happen in my rig. Kept on seeing water under the sink but couldn’t find it until yesterday. All of my connections were tight but after really getting into it I noticed the leak was coming from underneath the center of the faucet... when turning on the hot or cold water. I went to Lowe’s and did exactly the same repair you made. Thank you bro. Your parts list was spot on.

Another great video. I have the same issue I'm fixing today but in the kitchen. My leak is the connection to the faucet failing. Thanks for the info as it's my first time working with Pex. I have a feeling the main sortcomming of Pex is the Pex to threaded connectors. Your solution going Pex to brass with standard supply lines is perfect and what I'll do on mine. As for DIY, yeah, "give a man a fish....". Being able to handle your repairs on your schedule and on the road is the only way to go. Thanks for your brilliant channel!

At the 10:00 mark you were wondering why the swivel termination fitting leaks...It is the sealing washer primarily. They start soft and conical, but harden, flatten/form a step, and then start leaking. Instead of using flex connectors, if you 1.use elbow fittings to remove stress and align fittings properly and 2.use a new swivel seal (flair-it brand seals will work in your fittings), all will be well. Your mfr did a terrible job aligning fittings. I'm seeing a lot of that lately, and the stress often causes swivel leaks...which I get paid to fix. The reason those flex connectors are not generally used is because RV water pumps are wimpy compared to city water pressure and volume. Flex connectors have restrictive (tiny hole) end fittings which works fine in a home, but not so good for RV use except in park models. Sorry for the rambling comment, couldn't help myself. 23 years repairing RVs professionally, and I do a lot of plumbing.

Great video. Agree on fixing it yourself vs. RV dealer. Our kitchen faucet needed to be replaced. Went to Lowe's to pick up the faucet, but it came with integrated supply hoses. So, another trip to Lowe's for SharkBite PushToConnect shut-off valves. Snip, Snip, PTC, PTC, and screwed on the supply hoses. Now, if our sink ever has trouble, we can just twist the valves to shut it off, instead of shutting off the entire water system. This is important for full-timers. We've also replaced our shower with a residential one, , and swapped in a residential fridge, too. Someone in our RV park was in need of a "new" fridge, so he helped me remove it, and hauled it off. Nothing is sacred in our RV. You know... except each other.

One tip I would offer when installing a new faucet, always connect the supply lines to the faucet before you drop it the sink holes. Nice video. I was specifically wathing how you handled the PEX type B fittings as I have a similar project in my own RV. You covered it well. One comment I'd mention is that looping the flexible lines is a good idea. An old experienced plumber told me to measure the length that you need and then buy about 10 inches longer so you can form a loop in the line to prevent side-loading the end fittings of the flexible line. He said that was where they always fail.

trailer - 2019 grand design imagine 2670mk wow, with how many people had the exact same problem as you and i, it seems like maybe the industry needs to look at better installation standards. I took your advise on the half inch to half inch flex supply so that my water lines will sit straight and not be tugging on the tap. to be fair i had a crappy $10 pressure regulator before, then upgraded to the higher flow $70 pressure regulator with the psi gauge, and ran it on default @45psi and when this happened it was right after a psi spike from heating water...so i partially blame a weak and ill designed installation and partially blame myself for not leaving a drip while heating water haha but thanks again for the help and idea!

Its really sad that a brand new expensive camper leaks after a few camping trips, i`ve owned 7 campers in my life and most are built like crap, our present one has a rotted slide floor from improper water drainage and the slide just sorta floats when extended. Done with slides and i am convinced that the Scamp 5th wheel deluxe model is the only camper i will purchase in the future, small but perfect for just me and the wife and a dog. Enjoy your videos and as a retired semi driver i enjoy watching you be the boss backing that rig up !

+billg1527 we've had non slide campers as well and they're not without their issues. It is sad how the rv industry has no quality control. Looking at brand new rv's on the dealer lot and seeing things broken already is proof. Sad that it's expected to have issues right away.

Inside that hot line you showed there is a little white grommet, what happens is they get over tightened at factory and that grommet causes the leak. Which might of been why when you tried to tighten it increased the amount of leak. Replacing that little grommet should stop the leaking and then do not over tighten.

Nice fix! We had a leak in a similar location (under our bathroom sink) but it was actually the city water inlet fitting (one of those places where it was bent sideways and stressed instead of using a 90° fitting🤦🏻♂️)! The least we had before that was where the hot water line connected to the water heater. Just like you I tried to tighten it but it ended up way worse so I just replaced the fitting which still seemed fine! No idea why it leaked so badly!🤷🏻♂️

The fittings the factory used are the cheapest ones they make when it comes to rv plumbing. they crack at the base when you over tighten them to, so most likely the pressure from the pex and the amount they tightened it caused it to have a hairline crack, then when you tightened it yourself it cracked the rest of the way. if i was you, i would replace any and all fittings with flair it fittings.

I believe the reason why they use plastic water fixtures it's all part of cutting down weight. That my opinion based on absolutely nothing but thought. Thanks for the video! I found that the only time mine leaks is after the hot water was used.

I'm so glad I looked on YT and even more pleased to have found this repair and helpful fix to a bathroom faucet leak. ...this is my story here below.... My vintage 265 "Casa" SHASTA that I have been living in full time now for five years just had a leak occur on my bathroom's cold water line. I'm going to close off that line temporarily with a cap until I can gather all the pieces including a shut off valve and new faucet to fix the quite old assembly from the factory when this unit was built back in 1996. As it is my habit to use only the 'cold' aspect of the faucet it appears, yes appears* to be that this is the side that is leaking. * I still need to get into the cabinet and locate the leak but I'm pretty sure it is the cold line that has given up holding a seal. My best friend is willing to be my plumber for a day (hour or two) in the tight quarters of my Casa Shata's bathroom; thank goodness for good friends that are small in stature. My 64 year old body is not so flexible, for sure I'm not so good at kneeling and squatting in the confines of an RV bathroom.

Plumber's tape isn't necessary? Curious, only. Adding cut off valves to each line may be a real life saver when a leak happens and you are trying to stop the gushing of water everywhere. It isolates the line and just seems like the better way to do such. Nice video. I have an E-pro 19FD and some folk claim I can access my kitchen sink water faucet by removing the outside shower panel and getting to it from behind. Believe me, it is all "feel" alone when you try to do this task from the inside My problem is that at m age I drop stuff easily and don't bend down on my knees easily to get at some plumbing fitting like this in such a cramped space. Unfortunately, there are zero videos on KZbin in making the kitchen sink faucet swap, so this video helps in a round about way. Again, thanks for posting.

Hi , great job learnt how to crimp pex thanks. The new taps (uk) faucets look great. Going back to your original problem was there a worn ? rubber washer inside the old connector to the tap sometimes they perish and don't like being moved as they get old ( bit like me ! lol ) stay safe

Nothing was worm out of this was a new camper but the connections were just poor from the factory.

If this helps doing the same job I believe it was leaking from the apex clamp mine is doing this the force to remove the line upset the clamp and created a gap . They don’t leave any extra PEX line there do they I’ll do something similar as you did

Dead on comment about the dealers. I do it so I don't have to wait and it is done right as well, if something big (my roof or wood work), I take it in.

I have a brand new Coleman Lantern and on our day one of having it home and moved in (I'm a full time RVer) it flooded underneath the kitchen sink, everything was loose and we tightened it and it stopped well today cleaning underneath and reorganizing i hit the lines and they're leaking again! He had zip tides them and I'm thinking because they were straight they didn't leak but the red line is leaking like crazy again! I wish i could add pictures to show where, so frustrating!

Your probably better off re-doing the lines similarly to how we did in this video. I swear most RVs leave the plant with none of the lines tight!

+Al D thanks! Fixing it yourself saves time and money even if it was covered by warranty. Still easier to fix it ourselves not lose camping time.

Great video. My 2017 POS Crossroads trailor is leaking like this except from the kitchen sink..hot water (red) Pex right at where the clamp is. Thing is, it's a light drip.drip,..and yet when I put an aluminum tray to catch water..(faucet off) it seems to fill very quick in about a couple of hours. Thinking of trying your fix..but VERY afraid to start cutting..as can't believe so much water can come from a overtightened clamp!

+Dav777 we also had a leak under the kitchen sink, but it was able to be fixed with tightening the connections. Not so lucky with the connections under the bathroom sink. Good luck on your repairs! Let us know if you Jane any questions👍

You said you could not figure out why it leaked when you tighten the hand nut. I would have suspected a crack in the end fitting. It would not be seen unless you really look carefully while flexing the pipe at the hand nut or disassembled it.

Had the same problem, the white seals go soft and will start to leak, also better to do yourself, dealer wants 250.00 to 300.00 to replace seals

At the time this RV was only a few months old. We almost never take our RVs back to a dealer for anything! They are so unreliable even years ago and it's only gotten worse with time

Just curious how the repair is holding up? I developed a dripping leak under both sinks. It was coming from the cheap plastic connectors, even though they were hand tight. Since I was not home, I disconnected the connections and placed plumbers tape around each fitting. It worked for the time being, but I am thinking of using your method but wanted to see if that solved your problem? Thanks!
@WanderingWagners6 жыл бұрын
It held up fine for a whole year, then we traded in for an Airstream. So I can't say that it's still fine, but I'd put money on it that it's still not leaking.

The clamps you are using are they better then the ones with a screw?
@WanderingWagners4 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah. They are a lot better. You have to use these clamps on PEX.

Sit for 2 or 3 months mor like it. We had to take our brand new trailer back to the dealer in 2021 for warranty stuff that should have been fixed before pickup and it sat for 3 months.

So I saw this video and got alot of great info from you but I have a question about the pex lines outside , the drain lines. Well one has a split up the line about an inch from the crimped clamp near the drain.The split looks to be about a inch long and I was wondering what is your suggestion in this instance? I'm no plumber but will try and fix almost anything. I thought about just shortening the line and using a old school (really small) radiator type clamp. Would that work do you think or should I go buy all the tools and hoses and clamps and such? I don't know if the little town I just moved to will have stuff in the local hardware store and home depot is a good 45 mins away. Thoughts? "Please and thank you..

A hose clamp won't be able to compress the pex enough to keep it from leaking. I'd recommend using pex clamps.
