I know this might not be the most "exciting" travel video out there, but I have a special place in my heart for videos like these! Definitely immerses you like no other -- including the traffic, the not so bright weather, the pedestrians, everything -- even if I've never been to London before, it definitely takes me there and I'm all here for it!

Exactly! That’s why I like videos like this because it makes me feel like I’m there. Like I’ve seen the world and experienced it. It’s also cool to see how “suburban” or residential areas look compared to your side of the world.

Literally went through all of my childhood until West Hampstead-ish (Golders Green/Hampstead all my life, now living in the US). Golders Green bus terminal obviously has everything I grew up with, past Child's Hill, where many of my friends lived, past the fork going to West Hampstead (splitting off from Finchley Road, where I lived behind near Fitzjohn's for uni), past my 24 hour budget gym, past the cemetery I used to cycle around with my parents, past the Black Lion and the kebab shop next door, where I have had too many drinks, and definitely too many kebabs... The only question is why KZbin recommended this to me lol

I sincerely say: I swear I look at your city with envy. I applaud whoever has planned it from the past to the present. Horizontal architecture, green and relatively wide streets and avenues. This city prolongs one's life. Because it's spacious! Greetings from Turkey, beautiful people of London.

This must have been taken out of the top deck which is great as we can have a view of the route. And of course its been 63 years since I as a child sitting up front with my brothers which we enjoyed and thought it was great.

Thanks for sharing. Love all the double deck buses in London. Here in Australia, they are quite rare. Sydney used to have a fleet of double deck buses, but they have all but gone these days. Melbourne's last regular double deck bus service ceased back in the mid 1950's.

A lovely video with a perfect view of your journey this brings back memories from my time as a London bus driver as I used to be a driver on this route I left in 2012 the route has change a bit I see it now goes from Golders Green it used to start and finish at the Fire station at west end green, also some bus stops moved and road layout but the west end has not changed as regards busy with pedestrians always loved it at Christmas with the lights and people shopping a great Buzz but a driver has to be fully alert with people stepping in the road without looking especially those from other countries that look to the left when crossing.

This is a wonderful video of a great ride in a great city. I have been to London six times in my life. I was very surprised how crowded Oxford St., Lower Regent St. and Picadilly get in the pre-Christmas season. The music track was very good and it was interesting to hear the folks getting on and off the bus: especially the French tourists!

@ruthymccabe

Also bear in mind that not many people in the UK owned even one car up until the 1960's or so, even in London. The architectural style of the houses along most of the route shows that they were built between the 1860's and 1930's. Such high levels of motorised traffic like we have today could not have been foreseen at that time.

Outstanding video of an outstanding city. While we can most certainly applaud the skill and finesse of the bus driver, one must also appreciate the calm, patience, and cooperation of all the city drivers. I live in an area where everyone likes to assert their own rights in preference to those of others, this leads to road rage, honking of horns, and even gridlock on roads that have less traffic volume to start with.

Just two minor things I'm confused about. #1 It says 21:00 as the time, which is 9 pp m(, I'm in the U.S. and we use the 12 hr a.m./p.m. time so 21:00 in Europe-ish is 9 pm in the U.S.) The question I guess is why is it still so bright at 21:00 in December? I'm in New York and once we set our clocks back an hour for fall back, especially in the 2 weeks prior to the solstice on the 21st it's dark as midnight before 5pm! Only during the summer is the sun setting at 9pm. #2 there's snow on the roofs and everyone is bundled up assuming it's at least below the freezing mark but it said it was 50°F? Again here in NY when it's 50° in December any snow we had would have meted and we'd be out in sweaters, hoodies or lite jackets. I guess I'm just confused that England has snow when it's 50°C and the sun is still up at 9pm 4 days before the winter solstice, or some of that info was incorrect? Thanks!

Ya , I'm in Toronto and though I didn't notice the temperature I did notice the time . Also the ride ended at about 3/4 of an hour past midnight which is a 3 & 3/4 hour ride but the video only takes 1hr. 24 min. and doesn't seem to be edited at all . Also London is quite a bit farther north than us but that should mean it gets dark earlier in December not later.
