At 66 my knees aren't what they used to be on hiking down hills and top of my left foot aches going uphill. I try to do flatground hiking with gradual ascents and descent hills. No more steep hills for me. I'm jealous that you two can do the steep climbs and biking. Good for you. Nice scenery, but I prefer the drier warmer climates.
