Yeah I was inspecting bags to be my potential first camera bag at the store & immediately noped when I saw the chest strap on this thing. I've been using a regular North Face backpack & a rolled up blanket to hold my camera body. My $80 North Face backpack has a schest strap that actually makes sense. It clips closed, and is made to double as a whistle incase you ever fall down an abandoned well or something 🤷♂️. I wanted something with compartments to secure my camera more... But those straps are definitely going to break or deform enough where they no longer secure the bag to you one day.

Thank you for an in-depth look at this pack! I saw someone with it on a recent trip and wanted to learn more. Do you think the interior is too dark to find your smaller gear?
@Pack_roam8 ай бұрын
Thanks! Yeah, it would be nice to have a speed gray or some type of hi vis interior. I’m not a fan of the interior material in general on this bag.

Nice review. I agree, and just ordered mine before I watched. My EDC is a Wotoncraft 10L sling. I have also resigned myself to check a bag with tripods and other checkable items, so much easier to keep carry on weight down, and not a big issue for me to wait to pick it up.

@@paulboskerphotography Thanks for watching! And the feedback. I pretty much have to check bags for work trips… it is nice to keep that carry-on weight down. Makes boarding much easier!

can you use this as a personal bag on international travel?

As a carry-on, no problem. As a personal item, I think you may run into some size issues.

Yes, I bought this when they had it as a Kickstarter. Mostly for its looks and influencers at that time. In my opinion a very impractical camera bag .I agree with everything @osmewilkins mentioned above. I took the camera cube out and now use it as a carry-in bag for my travel. Took multiple trips to India and GSS countries with it.

Loved your review on this… I’m just struggling with all black interior, the old eyes ain’t getting any better with age! Be damned if I don’t love that aesthetic tho and for an upcoming trip to Canada, I’m VERY tempted!

Thanks! Glad you liked it. Yeah, not a bad looking bag at all, but some contrast on the interior would’ve been great. I struggled with the color options on this, because I think they all look good. ALMOST got the orange one, but considered the green and the tan as well. Which color would you get?
@sean1e1007 ай бұрын
@@Pack_roam agreed! As a workhorse probably the tan as goes with most of my gear and I’m not a black ops / camo guy. That orange in the 21L as a daypack for hiking tho ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hi @Pack_roam , did you ever find a unicorn bag that ticked all three use cases? I'm in the same boat, thinking I need a 30L+ for travel, a 20L for EDC. Thoughts?
@Pack_roam5 ай бұрын
No, I can’t say that I have. The PRVKE is close, but a little big for EDC. My situation has gotten a little more complex as well, though, because I’m doing a lot more travel for work now. I try to one-bag it whenever possible, but I can only accomplish that with the 45L GR3 at the moment due to the amount of gear I need for a work trip. In that scenario, I’m packing a smaller bag in the GR3 for day use at my destination. I refuse to check bags unless ABSOLUTELY necessary so I’ve also tried big backpack, small messenger; big duffel, small backpack; small sling, big backpack… you name it. At this point, I’ve resigned myself to the fact that I just need a lot of different bags 😁

The bag is okay, but I altered it to make it better. Firstly, the rolltop, too much velcro... I got rid of some, and it it just as good, but less loud. Next I added molle attachment points onto the side access pocket. Personally I never use side access, and having space for another water bottle pocket is amazing! Last thing is that I got rid of the writing on the handles that said wander more, worry less.... my word that was such a tacky thing to put on an otherwise sleek bag. I will say that this is one of the best travel bags ever. Big enough to get everything to location, just small enough to not feel overly bulky, and comfy enough for long hikes (especially when using the optional hip belt).

@@MeAMuse Nice! Sounds like some cool mods. Great travel bag.

If the backpack had no side access, then I as a photographer with many years of experience and various scenarios of using the bag - would give up this backpack. For plein air shoots, for moving on and between locations, city shoots and street style, and even for trip walking - fast side access to the camera is a requirement. Otherwise - the bag is excellent

I love this bag, it's very feature packed and well made with high quality materials, but there's no way you need the 30L version for EDC, it is too big and heavy, very comfortable but anyone would die carrying that thing for long periods. It is wonderful for one bag traveling, though.
@Pack_roam3 ай бұрын
@@harcoremonkey true. It is a bit on the large side for EDC. But if you’ve only got the budget for one bag to do it all…. maybe.

Be careful if you buy the backpack in Australia as spare parts are not stocked. I lost chest band as shown in the video, and WNDRD was $5 USD to replace and $100 USD to post! Outrageous, find a better supplier because the chest strap is easily lost!

Short answer? No! It's the worst camera bag I ever owned, i tried the 21L and 31L.
@Pack_roam4 ай бұрын
You’re not a fan of the PRVKE… what’s the long answer if you don’t mind me asking?
@osmewilkins4 ай бұрын
@Pack_roam 1. It's heavy 2. The tote handle is next to useless mostly annoyance. 3. The top compartment is too long, if you use the entire compartment, the bag becomes more of a burden. 4. The cube sucks, I don't care how people try to portray it as something else. It's very limiting, the dividers are too thick, the way the side access ilis designed, will mostly caught up with your camera. 5. The front pocket, it you try and put anything on it, pushed it against the internal compartment so it's only gold for papers. 6. The back strap has no dedicated place for camera clip. 7. There's no side handle, which makes it harder when you're on an airplane and on travels. 8. It can barely stand on its own. I bought the 31L thinking it would fit my gear. I had to mutilate the cube, one guy said to cut the cover and push the cube to the bag, it will make it more plushed and he was right. By doing that you gain more space. But on the same guys channel I saw him review another bag, way cheaper and way better, ended up with that bag and sold the 31L for a fraction of the price. Need I go on?

@@Pack_roam I bought the 31 liter pack on Amazon prime day, it’s being sent back. Worst bag yet. Camera backpacks are usually terribly designed, too big, too small, not enough compartments, too many compartments, too heavy, too cumbersome or just plain cheap quality. I have to think camera pack designers haven’t got a clue. Even Think Tank is bad. For now I carry my Z8 in a molded holster. I’ve tried so so many camera backpacks, but to no avail. I wouldn’t use the PRVKE if I was paid to use it, it’s that bad.
