I saw them open for the Cars at Pine Knob for their Heartbeat City tour in July of 84. The sheer energy of Wang Chung blew the Cars off the stage.

It was July 6th, 1986. The band was late..and it was a hot,hot night in NYC. Tempatures were rising emotionally and emotionally in the room. The band came in....I think everyone wondered if they would be worth the wait. I can tell you....it WAS WELL WORTH IT!!! I was there. We are lucky to have this footage. Noone would have believed the perfection of it ,otherwise. Great songs, played with passion and intensity. I cant thank the Ritz enough for taking the video and the others involved for keeping it all this time. btw: Jack Hues is far from done. Wang Chung and Jack Hues (solo) continues to put out worthwhile music..unafraid.Adventurous and beautiful. Check it out.

amazing story! i can only imagine summer in NYC back in 86. must've been a magical time. all the great artists were still alive. warhol died six months after this concert, basquiat a year after that, keith haring 2 years after that, mapplethorpe same time. wow. then hip hop took over and culture shifted. the 90s! then 9/11. but this show, mid 80s - one of those periods in time that can never be recreated.

I was born in '74. I really started loving music in late 80s/ early 90s. I really love this band. Only discovered them in 2010 through the movie To Live & Die in LA. They are just great musicians, there should be a true music revival with quality music.... i miss that. Love the way you wrote this down, wish i had been there.

Very cool. Yeah everyone is looking up Debra Dobkin the percussionist from Chicago. She's a very gifted painter and musician as well. Jack played guitar starting at 8 years old. Mikul Reid is still very involved in the music industry.

Saw them during a retro 80's concert in Downtown Las Vegas a few years ago. They still sound good. I also saw them during the 80's at the Roxy on the Sunset Strip in L.A. during their heyday. My friend and I were standing on the dance floor, dancing the whole time. We caught the attention of the band more than the seated, bored-looking music industry types that were trying to act cool.

Great show! Can't help myself comparing Jack Hues and Nick Feldman's look back 1986 and today. No offense, but I like their looks before. Although there are lot of changes, there is one thing that remains constant, that is, Nick Feldman's Steinberger headless bass guitar. He's still using it in most of the band's tours.
