As someone who has lived in China for many years, I find it fascinating to see Chinese cities and towns in different stages of their development. This smaller county town will surely become much more urban/suburban in the near future.

I'm an American that will be travelling here in September for 2 weeks! (I'll be starting off at the Guiyang airport), exploring Guizhou, then probably going into Guangxi province. Love these videos since they give me a good glimpse into what I'll be seeing. It will be my first time going to China.

Guizhou has long been the poorest province in China due to its unforgiving moutainous terrains and poor accessibility to other regions (there used to be a lack of bridges and many many suspension bridges between moutains were needed to be built) and it is inhabited by 40% ethnic minorities (like the Buyi, the Miao, the Shui, the Dong, the Yao, The Yi, the Tujia....) and 60% Han Chinese, there used to be an exggerated saying about Guizhou in China: "The land is not flat within 3 inches, the weather is not sunny within 3 days and the people has no 3 pennies in the pocket"(it's rhythmic in Chinese). I'm glad Guizhou has now transformed so much, even the rural villages are so clean now and full of cars, the cities like Guiyang (the capital) look very modern and cosmopolitan, it actually makes many Chinese people outside the region surprised because in our memories, Guizhou was very poor. It certainly has made a lot of progresses. Although it is still one of the poorest provinces in China, it's not that bad now.

Interestng that you see so many foreign cars; spotted Toyotas, a Cadillac and even a Skoda (!). And around 5:25 - 5:30 and a little forward -- those narrow city streets have an almost japanese feeling (yes, I know the people speak chinese, but still; the streets themselves).

Street, loud sound advertisements spoil the city. Old two-storey houses spoil the view of the city. In other countries, they began to use a single style for street advertising and signage. It is very beautiful to stand in the city. Multicolored, different-style ads look terrible.
