Thank you! I couldn't believe how much seaweed is on the jetty! Very rough conditions on Wednesday. The pelicans didn't mind, they saw it as opportunity.

Yeah it was pretty rough last week! I was down today and it is worse, the seaweed was everywhere you could see!! But there were a ton of finger mullet everywhere! Lots of Jack's being caught, and a few snook on the beachside early in the morning. The water was still very muddy. Gonna be a bit before it cleans back up.

In when I said worse, I was talking about the seaweed, the ocean itself had calmed down a lot from what it was! Not too bad today.

It looks like these jacks are being left to rot on the jetty. If you're not going to eat or keep them or keep them for shark bait, they should be let go!

I completely agree! Leaving them to dry out is the worst. There's also a problem when people catch live mullet off the jetty. They leave anything extra to dry out in the sun instead of just taking what they need and returning the rest.

i wouldnt give my dogs those jacks to eat....why?
@SebastianInletFishing29 күн бұрын
I wouldn’t either.. but a lot of people say jack crevalle can be good to eat when prepared properly. They also say it has a firm flesh and great flavor, while others say it's a delicacy when cooked in brine and then seared. But I’ll wait for the snook bite.

Because you don't know how to cook them. If you fillet it properly like a bluefish Spanish mackerel. You can't freeze them has to be cooked immediately

One of my buddies and I kept 5 of them about 2 or so pounds. We bled them asap, put them on ice then filleted them. He took them home and smoked them on his treager pellet smoker, man were they great!!

@WayneLandry-m9n it says in the old Florida cracker cookbooks, one of the most underrated eating fish if prepared properly
