Hands down, over the years I've found the BEST time to reel in steady catfish is after a hard rain following a dry spell. Say you get no rain for 7 days in the hot summer, then a huge down pour? Get out and fish. The rain washing nutrients from the shore into the lake totally gets them feeding. It generally has to be a pretty good rain. Enough to get the creeks flowing into the lake flowing heavy. The secret is, WHILE its hot and dry and not raining, you have to be vigilant, poles ready, watching the weather so when the big rain comes, you are on it.
