Yo brother, hope all is well man. Just came across your music library video and just wanted to ask a few questions if that’s ok? How many music files did you have to individually sort out? I seem to be coming across a hell of a lot and don’t think I’m going to have the time to do them all 😂😂😂 Secondly, do you ever come across files that need to be downloaded from iCloud? I always come across that one tune that I can’t play because of this. I also seem to have a lot of “Alias” files, do you think it’s worth deleting them as I believe they are all copies of tunes I already have. Also, when your sorting your actual playlists, I did see but typically how do you section them off just so I have the general basics then I will customise my own (screenshots would be perfect) Thanks in advance 🙏🏾

Right let’s answer these! So I had about 10000 songs to sort out. Took me forever but I just did an hour a day for however long to just tag the tracks with all the metadata. It will take a long time but I guess it’s just something you gotta do if you want it all organised lol. There are programs that sort out the meta data for you. I done a video on it last week! Nah so I don’t have iCloud turnt on on my DJ laptop. It scares me that iCloud can take a track off my computer and I can’t use it lol. I will do a seperate video on all the seperate playlists I have to make things easier for you guys to see

@@DjSizzla Maybe you have already found another solution but there is actually a setting on macOS for iCloud to always keep all files downloaded on your Mac. In settings just go to Apple-ID -> iCloud. There should be the option: "Optimise Mac storage" or something like that. Hope that helps

I love your advice. It seems so daunting for me because I'm so busy juggling DJ, family life, etc. (Disclaimer: just another way of saying, I'm lazy.) I have done a lot to organize my crates by genre, energy level, and I will scrub all of my genres for certain events. Like if I do a hip hop event, I will go through all of my hip hop and rnb related crates and hand pick the songs that I think will match the vibe for what my job is (I do a bit of DJing for local rappers/performers) so my job is obviously to play an opener while people are showing up and build them up, then I play fillers in between performances to keep the energy up, I play the backing tracks for the performers, and the the end of the night I will go into a closing set where I will go from bangers and slide the vibe into chill so people can get ready to go home after the show. But aside from that. When I play more open format gigs. Oh God do I stress. I definitely need to create more specific crates so I have more direct control over the crowd and vibe. Theres times when I'm knee deep in my set, and I hurry to find my next song, start mixing it in and realize the song I picked was NOT the vibe lol. Huge no no. And really, for the amount of time I have spent in the music scene and working on music. I really wanna slap myself. I have the musical knowledge to go in anywhere and rock a crowd. But I shoot myself in the face every time because I haven't sorted out my entire collection properly. So much so that I know I still have 100s of my favorite songs that I know get people going, but I miss out on them because of how I have my crates set up. Anyways, sorry for the rant. Thanks for the tips. I just need to get off my a$$ and get it done.

This is essentially exactly what I do. During covid lockdowns here in melb I decided to re do my entire library. Removed a heap of tracks I’d never play ever and replaced a heap of music with intro edits etc. but meta data and smart crates are the bomb and can’t recommend them enough. I play off rekordbox and serato depending on the gig or location so iTunes is the best for a central repository and the benefit is the smart crates are available on both. I’m still doing my library management and it’s become an obsession lol.

Hola DJCEE_B I have a question before organizing your songs in Itunes or called Music now, do you only put all the music that you got into a Music folder, or do you have sub-folders like Music then Genre and then Year. Do you organize it like that first or you just put all your songs in only a Music folder. I hope this make sense!
