Hey Dean! The Peerless is an odd one for me and maybe I expected too much, but with all the hype around it and it being so hard to find, I should be getting something that is one of the best bourbons out there, but I get a good bourbon. Maybe with so many good double oaks out there, the "aura" of the Peerless is not as bright. I wish Booker's were $60 to $70 and more readily available and it would be a good price point to buy from time to time. Thanks a ton for your view and comment! I greatly appreciate it and cheers!

@@WhiskeyBank Evening. With Peerless I'm at a loss. I get it they're craft and a smaller distillery but the ryes I got that were $100 to $115 they're a Hold to borderline Sell. Also with Bookers I agree with your valuations. Pre pandemic in my area the smaller stores had them for $85 and for me that barely made it a buy. Now at min $120 Sell sell sell. Before I forget that Hancock's Pricing is crime at that Total Wine. Great you get it as I haven't seen it in my area since 2019 but that isn't a $100 Bourbon. One of my Bourbon buddies said Hancock tastes better than Blanton's but to price it just a hair under Blanton's secondary isn't right.

@@TheReal_DeanD yeah, pricing, especially on allocated bourbons, is getting out of hand. But the bigger issue is that they are still selling out. Until we stop buying, there is no reason to stop. Maybe soon it'll reach a point where we had enough but I don't see that coming anytime soon unfortunately. There are plenty of good bourbons out there so let's have those until then! Cheers!

@@WhiskeyBankthere is hope. I’m seeing it now with Japanese Whisky & some Scotches. Nikka got off allocation as did some Suntory products. Now Nikka SFTB at $75, Hibiki Harmony at $92 and Hakushu 12 year at $164 sit on shelves now. They’re not moving. Ardbeg special releases at $140 are sitting. It may take a bit but hopefully prices come down. Agree 1000% on having other Bourbons out there.

There is value in that and especially if it's your first bottles and/or finishes a collection, it might be worth it! Remus was probably a great bottle but it's just the unfortunate reality that I need to make tough decisions and skipping on the remus was one of those. I tried Bookers for the first time 2 days ago as a pour at a bar. I enjoyed it , so I looked up the price. $150 for it was way too much. I'd pay $70 at most for it. Next day I had a pour of Whistlepig 6yr bourbon, enjoyed it almost as much as Bookers. That same day I bought a bottle for $40. Worth it.

Hey Jonathan! Your right on the mark with Booker's and that it should be closer to that $70 price point, which would make it a decent buy. Hopefully things will change the prices will come down a little bit. I never had a whistlepig, but maybe it's time to change that as I have been getting some comments with it as a suggestion. David, Thanks for sharing the Hancock P.R. I with you, I found it very soft and lacking in flavor. Not what I would expect for a $100 bottle. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad just not a flavor packed pour. Main thing on the palette was honey and no finish. You're right, stick to Eagle Rare especially when you can find it at under $30. Hey Dana! I just wish the Hancock's were priced around $40 to $50 so I can enjoy it, instead of bashing it for being overpriced. It is a good pour and something everybody should be able to try, but unfortunately, its allocated AND overpriced. Oh well, like you said, there are other bottles out there we can enjoy until that happens. I greatly appreciate all your insightful comments and cheers~

Now that I think about it, I haven't had the four roses small batch select in years! I get the single barrels (both 100 proof and barrel strength) often but I this one has fell through the cracks. I haven't had a chance to try it yet or afford a bottle of Kentucky Owl Confiscated. But people tell me it's a fine $40 bourbon in a $120 bottle. This is the great conundrum and catch 22 of bourbon (or scotch or irish whiskey or wine). What are you missing out on if you don't get the bottle? For you it could be the best sip of spirit you've ever had! It could also taste like lighter fluid and you will have wasted good money that you could have spent on your current favorites (aka known quantities). I know whiskey bars are not everywhere and the ones near you may not have what you want to try but this is a good way to weed out candidates before throwing down for a bottle. Plus they are a good way to meet new people, learn and a place to spend time with those already in your life! Sadly there are not any near me save for one which is members only (and they are picky on who gets invitations).

Welcome back again! That is so true and is hard to buy bottles you might like or hate. One of the reasons I started the channel is that I'm not the best in describing palate notes nor am I funny like some of the best WhiskeyTubers, but I wanted to focus on the "value" or "if it's worth the money". Hopefully my videos will give you a "idea" of what a bourbon will be like and if it's going to be worth buying a bottle. Hey Dean! Yeah, just enough information for me and the proof is low. If like michters, it's a low barrel entry proof to justify the proof, that would be a nice factor but with no information, I assume it's watered down. I used to enjoy finding Hancock’s twice a year at my local store for $55. All of the bottles have been good and one of them was excellent. I bought a bottle recently for $75 and at that price I told myself that it would be my last. Hard pass at $100+.

Hey Leo! I agree with you! At $55 or so, it is a good pour and I would not regret it one bit. Only reason it was on the list was the price hike to $100 from $65 just a couple months ago!!! Mine is Elmer T Lee. It’s a $45 bottle that is worth that price. But…. You never see them at that price and every store I’ve seen one in has them at $250-$300! I felt lucky to talk down a store owner to $75. The hype is crazy and while it taste good, it isn’t anywhere near $75 good much less $250-$300 good!

I saw Hancock from $175 to $300. Hard pass, but people are buying. I saw RR 13 for $600. MM cellar aged from $480 and up. Insane.

Yes most of the RR13 in my area is $500-600, I did get lucky three days ago and found a batch 3 for $300. I had to pull the trigger and he tossed in a BT so I did not feel that bad. I have to say it will put a smile on my face every time I pour it.

I never had the opportunity to get a JMCB as I have never seen it below $300 in my area (or in a bundle which is over $300). I'm sure it is a good pour, but it's just too rich for me as well. Hi David. I’m almost certain that the big box stores have started raising prices above MSRP. Hancock’s msrp is not $100. It’s more like $59. We are getting pinched from all ends. The distilleries are raising prices, secondary is nuts , museum stores suck and now Big box stores are raising prices to get a bigger piece of the pie of allocated bourbons. We have Binny’s in Illinois. I’ve noticed they are always above Msrp the past year. For example, Wild Turkey Master’s Keep is $275. They sold if for $300. By the way, that is now a ridiculous price for that. They had Little Book 7 for $169, but Msrp is $125! Buffalo Trace has held steady with their pricing which is smart in the long run. What’s going to happen when bourbon has a bust cycle and you are overpriced in the market? It’s going to devalue their portfolios. It’s inevitable and will happen at some point. Things are not even going up incrementally. It’s looking exponential for crying out loud! I bought both Elmer T Lee and Rock Hill Farms this summer for $69 each at an honest small store. That was a little above retail, but acceptable for a collector like myself. Hancock’s has eluded me, but I will not pay more than $70 just to have it.

Hey CH! It is getting way out of hand, but it's also the people who buy them that is causing this issue. As you saw in the video, the Hancock's sold out at $100 so the stores are doing it because they know it'll still sell. Money is the only thing that will get through to everybody (distilleries, distributors, stores, etc.) and when we stop buying (WT Master collection, BTAC, etc.) at crazy prices, that's when it'll calm down. Unfortunately, I don't see it happening any time soon. Let's all hope for the best and buy/drink other great whiskeys that's priced right!! Thank you for your view and this great comment! A follow up on Hancock’s. We had a Buffalo Trace drop in my area this past weekend. I was able to finally buy Hancock’s for $69 which was my max. That completes my Mashbill 2 collection. I was told retail is still $50. Total Wine should be ashamed of itself for selling it for $100.
