In certain kinds of Chinese sentences, I think the topic-comment structure would actually be awkward to avoid. For example: 中文她说得很好 In English, we could say "She speaks Chinese well". Here, both the object "Chinese", and the adverb "well" follow the verb "speaks". But in Chinese, this is not allowed. We cannot say: 她说中文得很好 or 她说得很好中文. Only the object or the adverb can follow the verb, so the verb would need to be repeated: 她说中文说得很好
