I'm so glad my great grandfather was a spitfire mk lX pilot I'm proud of him sadly he was shot down on one of his missions my grandma said and I have made respect for those who fought in the war and I'm thinking of taking my great grandfathers place in the RAF to become like him

@@huhsauce4797 my life is a lie, it's fallen apart. I have not acquired a role in the RAF. Nor any British military branch for that matter due to strict health restrictions leaving me down depressed and without purpose, and not only that I found out my grandma lied to me to give a good name to him as he really wanted to be an RAF pilot. He served in the army, which I would've loved to know but still that doesn't change my current situation and due to this, I'm severely debating fleeing the UK to serve in the Russian armed forces instead. I want to serve but my country won't let me leaving me in a terrible state.

Yes but technically they were not exactly F4Us as the British version was known as the "castrated" corsair due to their decision to remove the supercharger from the engine design to reduce weight and increase range resulting in an underpowered version that fell prey to 109s and was prone to stall. Later they tried to re-introduce the supercharger but couldnt afford it.....

What I meant is that by being different from the American versión makes both of you correct. The 109s didn't fight American S4Us BUT they still did fight corsairs. I never said the Brits were not corsairs, just that they were a different model/version....
