The Salem Watertower Incident (1984): War of the Worlds Analog Horror by pupbenny is a creepy VHS video about a tripod that's been spotted in Salem and is mistaken for a water tower (Oh what a faux pas). This story is based on The War Of The Worlds and it's many adaptations.

I had the idea of a found footage style WOTW movie years ago. It's the kind of story that really lends itself to that format, as it's always been about a person recording their survival through Alien invasion.

Tell me about it. I know because I made "WKBW War of the Worlds Analog Horror" over a year ago but it's buried under the KZbin algorithm due to the channel being new and small. Ha! Weirdly it was actually coincidental that I set it in 1984, despite the very similar kind of story which was based on the 1988 WOTW series. Although, the first thing I did with this project was write a whole backstory of this world and there was a big aspect of it that was inspired by 1984. Pretty fortunate I set this in 1984, simply so the VHS style made sense. I'm thinking about leaning further into 1984 though, considering they're both in the public domain after all (in the UK and EU anyway). ;)

Wow! *really* creepy leg design and the “arm” as well. The legs have an almost insect-like quality. The number of joints/the angles they are bent at fall hard into the uncanny valley for me, as well as the sssllllooowww movement. It gave me the impression that while it is huge, powerful, and terrifying, it almost has a difficult time moving under its own weight. Almost as if it was made in a smaller planet where gravity is, say, 62% less than earth’s 👀 The only thing that threw me off was the googly eyes; they just looked a little bit silly lol
