Exactly my thoughts, given how great the designs, the environments and the backgrounds all look! Just sucks that the narrative itself was really constrained and felt... unrealistic, ontop of the logic never ceasing in its relentlessly bouncing all over the place. Honestly feels like the premise in general would definitely benefit from a reboot in the form of a hopefully more flexible series instead of just a movie.

It's not really, it's supposed to be short of a sequel where the humans of the 1915s reverse engineered the technology of the Martians after the invasion that happened in the books ended. Similar to the History Channel's take but instead of Martians invading during WW1, you have humans never starting a world world and create new weaponry to combat a second invasion instead by Martians that....somehow became immune to earth's germs.

To all that thought this is a steampank reboot and comment it's not faithful to the original, no it's not, it's an animated sequel were ww1 never happens and humans reverse engineered the martian technology and the Martians attack again upgraded with a immunity to the bacteria.
