Here's a special treat for Sci-fi fans! A fully restored audio adaptation by The Lux Radio Theater of the 1953 War of the Worlds film (not to be confused with the 1937 Orson Welles radio broadcast) Starring is Dana Andrews, and co-starring is Pat Crowley. If you listen closely you'll hear a lot of familiar radio voices! The narrator is (of course) voice legend Paul Frees . . . plus you'll hear Parley Baer, William Conrad, Jack Kruschen, Harry Bartell and even "Floyd D. Barber"- aka Howard McNear. The sound quality is incredibly crisp and clear!
Airdate: February 8, 1955 #waroftheworldsremastered
✓√√✓√✓√✓ STUFF-N-SUCH: Parley Baer and Howard McNear were busy sctors! Both Parley and Howard have been to outer space (Suspense & Escape episodes) Parley was the Depuity Marshall of Dodge City (radio's Gunsmoke) and later became the Mayor of Mayberry while Howard McNear was the town's barber, and "Doc" on radio's Gunsmoke. These guys appeared in more than two dozen episodes of Suspense and Escape, plus many Classic Radio Theater programs.
√✓✓√√✓√ A little more of the old the STUFF-N-SUCH: To me, it sounds like Dana Andrews' performance is a bit uninspired through the first half of the show. I could be mistaken, however. See if you hear the same thing.
