I've been "playing along" with this series and I had a hell of a battle yesterday- I've got a good task force (2 BB's, 2 CA's, 2 CL's, 2 DD's) and got ambushed off Lunga Point by a nearly identical Japanese force. I thought "Ok, it's probably 2 Kongo's or something, I can deal"- I load into the battle, and it's both Yamato and Musashi. Now I'm thinking "Crap, I don't know if North Carolina and South Dakota can take on both Yamato's..." At first I tried to run away, but in a previous battle a Japanese sub put a torp into one of my CA's and my speed was down. Then I asked myself "what would Bull Halsey do?" So I pulled a 90 degree turn, cut my speed- and crossed the "T" on the Yamato's. I opened fire at 20,000 yards (with every gun I had). By the end of the battle all my ships were damaged, all my CA's, CL's, and DD's were completely out of ammo and the BB's were down to firing HE and 5 inch. But... I... Won...! I only lost 1 DD. :)

Wolfpack, you can sort through the ship list by ship type (DD, CL, etc.) instead of going through each individual ship class. That'll make classification much quicker and easier.

I actually take Destroyers and Light Cruisers for my supply drops they hold more than Destroyers but if I can afford it I put in 2 Heavy Cruisers in case of that run in with another fleet.

The IJN did use Destroyers to try and delivery supplies. That was the Tokyo Express. They lashed together oil barrels and used Destroyers to try and throw them to the Island. It did not work becuase the commander ordered the destroyers to not do the mission and attack.

USS Indianapolis was the heavy cruiser that carried the first two Atomic Bombs to a airfield in B29 range of Japan in 1945. She was torpedoed and sunk just after that operation! Some weeks later those two Atomic Bombs finished WW2 - altogether!

Sun Tzu said: "On desperate ground you must fight". If you're in a battle, just go for the kill- escaping is not really an option. Kudos for a good fight- that's how you do it. Concentrate fire on a single target until you are certain it will die. Scratch off four DDs- those seven points will compensate the repair cost of your cruiser. Things are looking up- at least until the enemy sends a BB based TF to cover Guadalcanal. Once they do, you may not survive that- take it into account when planning.

When targeting enemies with torpedos, avoid aiming for an enemy who is making wild maneuvers. Aim for someone in the middle of the formation, so if you miss one, you might hit another. On the same note, never move in a straight line for a long time! Enemy torpedos are predictive, so don’t make their aiming easy!

Few tips this time: 1) When you want to stop your ships from attacking, click "Cease", don't disable "Fire at Will". Disabling "Fire at Will" just prevents them from attacking NEW things. Cease stops their current attack AND disables Fire at Will. 2) Use the buttons in the bottom-right to disable ships, ports, etc. on the map to click the things you want to click more easily.

In my opinion there are two ways to use torpedoes: 1. firing from afar to break enemy´s formation or 2. firing from close distance to avoid evasion. You always fire torpedoes from far away and wonder why you don´t hit anything. Maybe #2 is worth a try.

it should be pretty clear by now that letting AI to work launch solution isn't working. The few times he's done it by hand, those spreads have done their job (breaking the formation). Like I joked in previous episodes comments, even just roughly eyeballing it would be better than the current situation.

It's a little frustrating to watch but at the opening of every engagement identify all enemy ships. That means All ships. In the chaos of battle you don't have to worry about targets getting switched. Torpedo solutions will be higher ect.

Indianapolis’s damage I think it can be compared to the Pensacola’s damage at the battle of tassaforonga where she was hit by a torpedo in the same area as Indi, the fires and damage were immense she began listing, but survived by reaching Tulagi harbor with fores, and her fires were extinguished with in less than a day, the Northampton was struck by 2 torpedoes, the damage and the fires were the same as the Pensacola, but more severe, let’s just say that the Pensacola was lucky to survive unlike the Northampton

You should try to get at least a basic air base at Reynolds Island, then you could at least harass the enemy.

You are assigning targets for your ships to shoot at, but because of the dang auto fire, your directors have already selected different targets. Be sure to change your fire directors to the target you wish to attack. That should help with improved firing solutions. I do not know why when you select a target, that the fire directors do not also change, but that is how the game currently works.

So it’s a bit of a cheese tactic but if you equip a squadron of TBFs with rockets those are anti destroyer load outs, I’ve crippled or sunk 2-3 DDs every single attack, you should try that wolf! Especially since they are getting a little weird with formations

Can you select an entire group and command them to do the same thing? ie: attack the same target. Do that and focus fire each in turn. Sink the lead, then the next. even if you disable temporarily it helps you...thusly it helps your effort.

@3:03... You have 2 DD and 2 C3s at Rennell. You should put these guys together. At least 1 DD to guard the C3s against subs. You've killed SEVERAL subs in that area. @20:55... While TF1 is at Guadalcanal, you should have shelled the airfield on Florida (Tulagi in real life.) to knock it down to zero. Stop a few more enemy planes from flying. @23:25... Remember, the Akizuki class were built as AA ships. They have only 4 torpedo tubes. And no reloads. Focus on the Fubukis, Yugumos, Kageros, etc. They have more tubes and reloads. The Minekaze and Kamikaze class can wait too. I'm surprised they're at the front. In real life, they were regulated mostly to convoy escorts. A few did see action, almost by accident. @27:00.... your torpedo spreads are too wide. Never go over 5°. It gives them too much room to pass between your fish. Tight spreads are better for that reason.
