"War Targ" -- a Star Trek fan production

Starbase 211 has detected a Klingon targ force approaching. With all of its local fleet on a rescue assignment elsewhere, Admiral Alwine makes the only decision: reactivate the U.S.S. Caliborn, a photon-torpedo destroyer, appoint a new captain and crew, and send them out to engage the Klingons before it's too late.

Well, don't forget that Oberth class vessels have a pretty significant EWAR capability. Having adversaries, including one that can block your targeting and possibly detect you under cloak, is something to consider...

This is a starship buildt for battle, not the diplomatic and science research cruises of the Star Trek: TNG stories. I also liked how first officer informed her Captain he has responsibly to think about how his actions affect entire crew. Not just himself alone.

I didn't believe that Klingons just sit there while Federation ship fires volley of proton torpedoes at them. They would have destroyed that ship without moments hesitation.

I always wondered why, in the first episode of DS9, they fired off all six photon torpedoes... rather than fire off a phaser burst as a warning shot. I guess the notion was to imply that they had enough torpedoes to 'waste' six as a warning salvo. In terms of this video... if the rest of the fleet hadn't arrived... how many torpedoes you have left won't matter after the Klingons blast you to dust.

@@paulhunter6742 yeah sixteen torpedoes would seem to me as a Klingon Task Force Commander to have been a miraculous case of targeting computer misses thanks to interference from whatever the cosmic disturbance was. That many torps would seem to have been an effort to disable or destroy as many of the four as possible in a first strike to even the odds.... shit would've hit the fan and Klingon torpedos would've been inbound by the time the other five ships were arriving....

I know they call her a Destroyer in official literature, but given her crew compliment, armament, and size, she'd fit better between the _Miranda_ (a Light Cruiser of this era), and the _Constitution Refit_ (a Heavy Cruiser of this era). That would make this a true Medium Cruiser. ..one of these days, I really ought to make my own analysis video of this stuff..

Wow, Great job guys. Better then most of the stuff produced now. May i make a suggestion? Your audio aint great, but you know that. My suggestion is to add some back ground noise to cover the flaws. Doesnt have to be loud. In fact the lower the better. Just a hum, a few computer sounds and some com chatter. Again not crapping on your work, i think its great, but tweaking the audio a bit can be done in post and is not expensive, just time consuming. Youd be amazed at the difference a good audio track can do. Again, Im not talking about music, just back ground sounds. Outside of that, Great job.

@@macekreislahomes1690 i think the issue is to have the back ground sounds played in the studio itself as you record the dialogue. On a sec hearing, the sounds you have dont match the echo and reverb of the set. If you play them on the set, they should match better. Adding reberbs and echo is much easier then getting rid of them, so dont get rid of them. Just add the sounds on the set. I hope that helps and really my hats off to you and your production team

Fun film. I had never seen an Abbe Class PT Destroyer in action before. If you have time, can you describe why you choose that specific class for the hero ship in this series?

Yea! When we had the ship options before us, I went with the Abbe class because of how different it looked compared to the other ships in our fan film “fleet”. We wanted smaller than Constitution class, but something different from the much beloved Miranda class, and certainly a design that stands out in a line up. Considering the narrative direction we’re going for, the armaments with the Destroyer fit as well, so Abbe it was for the Caliborn! Thank you for the Question! Feel free to hit us up with more!
