I was at a music festival about 30 years ago. There was five stages going all at once. It was impossible to see everyone. I was just walking around seeing what's on each and I stumbled on these guys playing this very song. I parked my ass against a tree and stayed until they finished their set. It was nothing less than heaven. I loved it, Thanks for posting and bringing back some good memories.

War was one of the best concerts I ever saw! Saw them in Summer 1973 in Odessa, TX. It was the first and only time I was ever in a totally integrated audience! It was A - MA - ZING! This song was the closer, and it lasted nearly 20 minutes. The encore was "Why Can't We Be Friends".

I wish I could time travel back! Days when it was "festival seating" and everybody brought blankets and quilts to put down on the concrete floor of the coliseum! Passing around the doobs and everyone so happy and loving each other. 😂

@@MissAstorDancer so many great memories of these times despite killing my brain cells then too. I’m glad we have these videos to remind us of simpler times when grooving to bands like War was simply taken for granted. I have to pat my young self on the back for my taste in music… still sounds great

From 1972, this was War's 5th album, " The World is a Ghetto" released in 1972. Such a wonderful song laced with great funk and soul, the album features War progressing further into Soul and Jazz. So very melodic, with wonderful hooks, their vocals matching at times the pain filling the lyrics and the sax so beautiful, along with bold instrumentation. The radio edit version was 4 minutes, but the album version is 10 minutes long, with a third verse added, a mind altering sax solo and a fantastic electric guitar solo. This album won Billboard Album of the Year in 1973 for this underrated Band. Great reaction Handsome Harri ❤❤ So funky Ian 👏👏 Cheers from Canada ❤❤🇨🇦🇨🇦

One other point about this LP: It was the #1 album of the year in the U.S., according to Billboard (album sales). It outsold albums by Led Zepplin, the Rolling Stones, the Who, Deep Purple, Stevie Wonder, Carly Simon, James Taylor, and everything by the solo Beatles. It went gold (probably platinum by now) and was Billboard's Album of the Year for 1973.

Stellar Funk?? You are either from OHIO or from THE DMV. Either way you are a FAN of "SLAVE". Have not been successful at all getting anyone to react to their greatest hits. Not talking about what they played on the radio. LOL

The lead vocals are by the late B.B. Dickerson who passed away in 2021. The sax player Charles Miller was killed in a botched robbery in 1980. The murder is unsolved to this day. Lee Oskar, the harmonica player, is from Denmark. The band continues to play but the only original member is keyboardist Lonnie Jordan. This album was released when I was 15. I'm 67 now and the artistry of these fine musicians still mesmerizes me.

Thanks so much for your reaction to this live performance by War! I was really hoping that you’d dig it. There were some fantastic social consciousness songs back then. They aren’t dated- all these decades later-but just as relevant, sadly. I love the third verse on this extended version because of its message of hope & love. Many thanks again, Harri. I truly appreciate it 😍💫
