You don't have to be a beginner to get something out of these guides. I've been playing since 2013 and I am still learning. Never stop training, always improving wherever possible. Refreshing the fundamentals and experiencing familiar concepts through a fresh set of eyes is invariably helpful. Defyn is a pretty damn efficient killer :)

Great video. I'm still learning when to switch from using free look camera & keyboard WASD to fly the plane to using mouse aim to fly the plane. This looks automatic for you, but as a beginner my attempts climbing spirals result in stalls or diving spirals. Let's look at the fight starting at 1:05 as an example. You start with keyboard aileron (A) and elevator (W), then switch to mouse at 1:10. Free look at 1:18 in a gentle descent. Use the mouse into a gentle climb at 1:22 then back to free look. Switch to mouse aim at 1:33 for the shot. at 1:52. However, between 1:33 and 1:52 it looks like you're still using the ailerons. At 1:49 you roll left (A) to so that Instructor can pull the nose onto target, then at 1:52, once your nose it pointing at his path, you roll left again to follow him around. A "very beginner's guide" covering how you use keyboard and mouse in harmony would be appreciated - when I try I end up fighting the instructor over control of the plane. You make the keyboard and mouse work together so well.
@DEFYN4 жыл бұрын
I barely used to mouse at all in that fight, I am just keeping my mouse on him to keep him in the center of the screen, after 1:22 till i aim its all keyboard. I have to do a control thing, I'll start on that soonish

Every single time I try to energy fight for training in arcade, some random lad comes, falls into energy trap, sprays 'n prays and knocks out my pilot with a stray bullet. Every goddamn time lol. But anyways great idea and video. There's not much enough examples of the energy fighting. This will help us newbs very much. Thanks!
@agoiagoi93564 жыл бұрын
Arcade has quite forgiving flight models and the climbrate of planes is often doubled compared to realistic (ever noticed the statcards/horsepower changes switching between Arcade and Realistic?) When I used to play Arcade I've had the same problem as you, I never made energy fighting work in that mode The ludicrous climbrate even for prop planes basically makes stalling out enemies impossible, maybe someone else has a positive experience but that whole thing turned me off from the mode tbh
@qwefhj30114 жыл бұрын
@@agoiagoi9356 indeed, sometimes it becomes just stupid af. I've seen I-16's beating 109's in climbing and seen how spitfire is a bloody UFO in arcade. I'm considering to switching to RB too because of these problems.
@agoiagoi93564 жыл бұрын
@@qwefhj3011 Oh I did that years ago, it's worth it! Tactics actually work and you can do defensive flying, enemies can't climb to you at 90° and snipe you (unless you seriously misjudge the energy states of you two or fly in the shooting arc). Also RP and SL rewards are much bigger than in AB. I could get one kill and an assist in a 4.7 game and end up with 4000 RP without premium in Realistic battles. It's been years since I played Air AB but I'm pretty sure you need 4x the amount of kills to get that much RP Though stock grind in planes in RB is really bad but overall you can grind pretty fast through Air RB
@gabork50554 жыл бұрын
This really depends on the kind of plane you're fighting. Also the moment when they pull up, which is why a slight climb is usually recommended until you're certain of the opponents energy state. It works in arcade, especially at high altitudes, flying the right planes. Things like Pyôrremsky, some russian ufos and ufo Spitfires will still be as ridiculous as they are, sure. (I don't mention the japanese ones, because they are decently slow as well, which somewhat offsets the ufo-ness of their fm, you can usually just run or dive away and they can't do anything, besides a few japanese planes)

I can't wait to give this series a watch. No matter what, I'm always slower than an enemy, they always turn better, dive better, have better positioning, everything.
