War Thunder Realistic Battle Panzer IV J Got Buffed

The latest u[date gave the Panzer IV J got a massive makeover which now makes her equivalent to the H variant. She has the turret rotation now and both got a penetration buff as well (140 to now 145mm).

The J variant was designed to reduce the cost and complexity of the H while retaining the armor and fire power. One of the reasons the turret was slower was the lack of a turret drive only having the hand crank.

Yes but that doesn´t necessarily mean that Gaijin had given it the correct rotation speed. They can take certain liberties in order to decide how fast exactly that horizontal turret rotation was...in this case it was a buff, previously it was horrible. It´s the same thing they did with the panther A, they nerfed the mobility while still being historical because late model panthers didn´t have 700hp engines. So it was up to them to decide wether or not the panthers got the 700 or 600hp, same here, they can choose how expert or fast someone can turn the turret (within reason).

also, it wasn't just the turret traverse that was altered, You can see the frontal plate that use to be a 60mm and 20mm welded together now a single 80mm along with a redesign of the exhaust and some wheels.

Bumping the M makes me nuts, it's pointless to use now. And of course it's happens before they introduced those Swedish durp guns That 3.0 line up was my favorite one in the game.

I love the Panzer IV H and Panzer IV J. The extra armor allows them to get closer to enemies and brawl, and this armor can be angled against stronger guns, the turret is trolly due to the extra track covering them extend to the edge of the turret, a shot to the edge of the turret would usually not penetrate, and the gun manlet absorbs most of the shrapnel if a shell hits there. The gun is buffed also I think, It used to have 140mm of maximum penetration but now it is 145mm, I like this extra penetration. The thing I would want for the Panzer IVs is that maybe Gaijin can give them Face Hardened armor ? There are articles mentioning that Panzer IVs have Face Hardened Armor instead of Rolled Homogenous Armor. This type of armor is hardened on the surface followed by normal material under it and it would be more effective against shell without caps. Maybe Gaijin can model this type of armor so that it is more effective when angled because the shell would have to travel more length of the hardened surface armor. Though I do not know which type of armor was mainly used on Panzer IVs though because different sources say different things

@@HerrmanTheeGerman Yeah I did, The turret rotation did not hit me that much, since if the Panzer IV J is placed in a position that enemy can only approach one way from, the turret rotation become less of a problem. Like that one rock at A on Ash River or the long road to C at Advance to the Rhine. Although with the former position, your armor should not come into effect that much because only your turret is exposed and you would want your enemy to shoot at your hull. With the extra armor, maybe advance closer to the enemy with extra precautions should be the tactic here because being closer bring extra rewards. If the extra armor is not used, then it is better off that the Panzer IV F2/G is used at a lower BR

I love the Pz IV's especially now they are all BR 3.7 in RB, Pair with a Wirbelwind and a BF109 F2 with a 250kg bomb for a great all around lineup

That was some of the worst blue team play from the winning team I've ever seen. Almost half the team did nothing at all except eat shells. At least the few helpful ones capped zones instead of just sitting there. I have agree though, about the Pz. J getting buffed. It really needed it for (laughably,) game balance. Not having the turret rotation of comparable enemy tanks at the same BR really was hampering it, even though it could PEN most targets. (Just like how the T34's can PEN it frontally at long range - game balance). I'd probably think of the Pz. J as variant A, for the turret drive modification, not being removed from a older model that was standardized to the J.

GGWP. Does this mean the command version is buffed too? The premium one? Kinda weird I mean I am not sure how everyone isn't just turning their hull at the same time they turn their turret to increase the speed. I would guess it has more to do with the abundance of Russian players at those tiers probably need more people to shoot, and this should help. The kv-1e and the T-34-57 are probably some of the most played tanks around there. Bout time they helped them out

pz iv j is not good as p iv h and the armor in front of the tank there is a disk that armor didnt change to hoght mm it was 20 or 30 mm and notifacations for pz iv j specially armor notifacation is really not enough its should be a little more just a little

A bit of a shame they gave it the same turret rotation speed as the H. The J only had manual turret rotation and not a powered rotation.

The J used to be horrible, and to my knowledge I couldn´t find any document that said that was the max turret rotation speed. So to be honest it is still probably somewhat historical if you look at it from an expert crew perspective. It´s similar to the panther mobility nerf, some had 700hp and 55kph, others had 600hp or 46kph later on...so Gaijin decides.
