@@fatheroflies4820 Yep, I broadsided a Porcupine going full tilt in a Boar (because my gunners were dead) and... nothing. Was in my second game in the mode and at that point I knew it was no Dune knockoff.

Gaijin incentivized extraction camping by making the event rewards only available from getting kills, the geniuses at gaijin made a primary function of the mode a massive choke where everyone is forced to go. They also made the whole event a crafting event which almost everyone agreed universally sucked.

Imo camping adds to the experience. You are a nomadic warrior, and it’s fun to have that added tension on the last rush to the escape. Plus, you can always wait until a minute 30 left and use the alternative extraction zones.

I think you forgot to mention that all the vehicles for the mad max event are vehicles from the teach tree with some changes to their looks, for instance the Echidna one is the 40mm truck found in the Swedish TT that literally has the nickname „mad max truck“ because of its armour (on the TT version).

Fun fact: they’re called the ‘Porcupine’ and ‘Boar’ because Ystervark translates to ‘cape porcupine’ and Bosvark translates to ‘bushpig’, basically a boar.

@@Endermann111Its main advantage is its speed, but you shouldn’t really be playing it for scrap anyways because of the limited capacity. Echidna is better at intercepting, Boar is better at carrying loot, and both are better at combat. Yes, in theory you could use it for a last minute scrap run, but really it just isn’t worth it seen as you likely won’t make it anyways. Still nice to have though if you die in the Echidna.

The voice lines for the Mad Max event are actually really funny at times, something I definitely appreciate. Also, if you want to drive the Reptile (M53/59) with rockets, its in-game “code”-name is “md_m53_59_rocket”, or for the uparmored version, “md_m53_59_rocket_uparmor”. I don’t know how you test drive the other ones, but usually I just head on to the wiki page and edit the “show in game” button to link to another vehicle through inspect element. I’ve had plenty of fun with the event, but the first 5 games were incredibly painful, until I got the hang of it. Not a beginner-friendly mode. Especially not when the large silo-like structures don’t have hitboxes, making it possible to camp inside of them. Was really excited for the event, as this would be my 2nd ever April’s Fools, but guess I’ll have to wait until 2025 in hopes for something actually fun.

For me, mechanics tested are ; - changing weather - dynamic and "specific" captures points per each class of vehicle - modular customization and sub variants - dynamic sights (boar got something different)

warthunder already had changing weather, where it was cloudy, rained and then cleared up and the sun popped out all within 10 min We already have sub variants of many of the vehicles, and there's even an option for many to heavily customize it by adding or removing cannons/pods in some aircraft Not sure what the boar has, but we already have SB's version of gunner sights

One of these maps sucks, spawns are team 1 east and team 2 west, send like it favors team 1 because one of their spawns is in a resource zone. Problem is the extraction is right next to team 2s spawn, so if you are on team 1 you will not be able to extract until the last minute or so when it adds more extraction zones

Honestly dynamic weather could be really cool, imagine this: Your in Sinai and the game has kinda divulged into sniping, kinda boring. Then a sandstorm starts to appear, your only viability is the minimap and team callouts on locations, spotting, artillery, and even the arcade spotting never mind shell pen is disabled. The game could divulge into a much more brawling type of match where the armor and firepower of your tank matters more than just the scope and shell ballistics skill alone, and you could try and push on points without having to worry as much as being predicted, with the noise of the loud sand storm mainly blocking out engines

I would love a Game mode for tanks that is like the helicopter Enduring confrontation mode On those large-scale maps because it would give a meaning to some of the exceptionally long range capable tanks, and would overall be alot more peaceful(and fun) to play (plus I would love to use the Wolfpack on a large map like that)

So far, I’m having fun with this event, I like the mechanics of it. Just my only major gripe is the whole ‘losing all your collected resources if you die’. It is frustrating when you gather a load of stuff only for one truck to come along and gun you down for that to be undone. Personally, I think the grind time is offset by how many resources you can get in one match, would be better though if you were to say, keep half of the resources you collected if you get killed, or something like that.

I think it's worth noting that only the bosvark has 50 while the mule carries 100 while the rest only carry 25. However as you grind through the vehicles, the grind gets significantly worse with each vehicle while there's increase in storage If they increased the mule's storage to 200 while scaling up other vehicle's storage and allowed vehicles to leave to extraction before it hits max, it wouldve been great

The porcupine (Number 2) is based off of the South African APC called the "Buffel". The difference is that the porcupines cab is on the right side instead of the left as with the Buffel. Number 3, the Boar, is based off of the "Boswark" (Another South African one, but instead this one is a Anti-aircraft armored truck). Yeah, i though i would add these as you didn't mention are did not know about these.

All vehicles, besides maybe the mule I’m not sure, are modified off of in game vehicles. The Porcupine is an Ystervark (which translates to porcupine) and the Boar is a Bosvark (which translates to bush pig, so basically a boar)

The Mad Max topic is fun, but as you've said, the spawns and item drops are just pain. It happened to me many times, that after 10 minutes of driving around and scavenging supplies that I've got bonked from 1km away right in front of the extraction point. I don’t like the grind in War Thunder (I have been playing non constantly for about six years now). I never have. I absolutely love the April fools events, and I really like this one. I feel like the light grind makes it so that you have to actually play the game, yet not too much, to get something new to toy around with. I played for perhaps two to three hours straight and got both a sub-vehicle and an entirely new vehicle as well. Something that I will say that I do not like is that you cannot just choose any of the craftable vehicles, I wish there was not a Linear progression for that, however, it is still a fun event. Especially the voice lines XD

the boar isn't really sluggish. It can't turn tight which is a problem but it's top speed is actually really high. Acceleration is just slightly lower maybe. The problem with all the guns is they're all only AP, which means you have to directly hit every crew member. Also all guns really lose velocity and pen over range. The strong boar however has an upgrade where it gets a HEAT recoilless rifle. It utterly obliterates everything.

For some reason whenever I pick my 3rd vehicle my POV is fixed to wherever it randomly decides :/ I also can't open map, use binoculars, scope or look around My controls in settings don't change they just stop working in whatever the 3rd vehicle I pick So I kinda only have 2 atm :/
