Additionally, while the Mig-21's in War Thunder are known for being quite capable of very high-alpha maneuvers, this actually took a rather skilled pilot to pull off and maintain in real life, as the plane was less stable in this state than you may think playing the game.

In War Thunder every plane handles like a modern fly by wire plane though. Even the props... Even though these planes have super stabilty, they can become unstable due to battle damage but the "instructor" fbw system compensates for that in the game.

While the afterburner use in WT's 21bis is unlimited, keep in mind that it produces nowhere near the thrust it produced irl. They also significantly nerfed the flight model multiple times now.
@vaccuumrolls72432 жыл бұрын
That’s because it used to have an over performing model in which unlimited use of the 2000kgf emergency burner was allowed, while in reality this could be used for 2 minutes before the engine would sustain significant damage. The afterburner in game now is just the first stage one. Gaijin said in a devblog it was easier to model that way (only stage 1 or only stage 2) due to how the game engine was coded, but removing it is more accurate historically as well.

Honestly afterburners need to get an overhaul. There's no reason to retain the acronym wep. Plenty of afterburning plames use AB routinely for takeoff and climbout in peacetime. More modern planes like the F-15A that's on the horizon should have 7 stages of afterburner plus a limited time V-max. Scroll to 100%, then one scroll wheel click for each successive afterburner detente.

In Czechoslovakia there was a joke among MiG-21 pilots that if you wanted to turn around 180, you'd be turning above Poland. This is how maneuverable the aircraft was - not at all. In fact Vietnamese pilots also learned that the hard way so they often stayed hidden in clouds or behind mountains and would hit and run American fighter-bomber formations instead of turnfight.

The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is - whichever is greater - it obtains a difference or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position that it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is is now the position that it wasn't, and if follows that the position that it was is now the position that it isn't. In the event that the position that the position that it is in is not the position that it wasn't, the system has acquired a variation. The variation being the difference between where the missile is and where it wasn't. If variation is considered to be a significant factor, it too may be corrected by the GEA. However, the missile must also know where it was. The missile guidance computer scenario works as follows: Because a variation has modified some of the information that the missile has obtained, it is not sure just where it is. However, it is sure where it isn't, within reason, and it know where it was. It now subtracts where it should be from where it wasn't, or vice versa. And by differentiating this from the algebraic sum of where it shouldn't be and where it was, it is able to obtain the deviation and its variation, which is called error.

Pathetic range, terrible turn rate, and easy to avoid the radar locked ones are no different only those the radar systems are even worse, they cant lock onto something RIGHT INFRONT OF THEM.
