I work at a WP brick and mortar as an optician, and the durability of the frames is what I’ve been impressed with! I’ve had frames come in with the temples bent every direction from being stepped on, sat on, etc. and those barrels hold up!!! I can usually get them adjusted and back to good as new!

I just got glasses from Warby Parker and I am in love with them. Their unique style, excellent quality and the price is much lower than others stores that I have looked at and that goes especially for Lens Crafters, who I used to use all the time, but they are so much more expensive there even with the 50% off discount that Lens Crafters periodically does on Lens. So, I recommend Warby Parker 100%. I feel high class and stylish wearing these glasses. There name, Warby Parker, is even cool to say. Also, for every pair that someone purchases another pairs gets sent to someone in need of glasses and how great is that...well, so great!

Warby Parker is definitely one of the best online eye glass brands. I ordered my first pair from them 3 years ago and loved the frame. There was a minor problem with my prescription when I received them (fish bowl vision) and they put me in contact with the lens specialist who diagnosed the problem over the phone and sent me a second pair. So that experience was great. Overall because I have a high prescription, light sensitivity, and deal with optic side effects from chronic migraines I prefer getting my lenses from an optical just because of the higher quality but I would definitely order frames from Warby Parker again.

I have had a couple of pairs of Warby Parker glasses, and they held up fine. I haven't had a pair in a while, but the anti reflective has been decent. The lens coating that I get on glasses from my doctor's office are noticeably better, but a pair of glasses are also 2-3 times the cost. I had frames that lasted me 5 years & was bummed they don't replace lenses - I can only assume how easy it is to send lenses for specific frames! while I absolutely had a great WP experience, the thought of all the plastic waste because they don't encourage ppl to reuse their frames isn't a great one. I mean, from a biz perspective, isn't replacing lenses an easy, repeatable revenue stream if you sell durable frames which mine proved itself to be? (new frames/lenses I ordered from a local store were more expensive, less stylish, didn't last a year, have a horrible coat and belt out of shape so easily - made me realize how much I miss my WPs & the value they are!)

I'm a diehard contact lens wearer--I have lenses on my eyes for about 16 or so of my 18 waking hours each day. While eyeglasses from the clinic may be superior in every way, there's no way I can justify $500 or more for a pair of glasses that I wear for an hour or two a day. Maybe I'm the odd one out, but even with the ultra-expensive eyeglasses with their superior lens materials and high-end coatings (yes, I've had them in the past), I still get better acuity from my contacts--making it doubly infeasible for me to spend extra dollars on expensive eyeglasses. I'm so glad places like Warby Parker exist for folks like me.
@Xe0542 жыл бұрын
Yes, glasses give you tunnel vision. I feel like I'm not as aware of my surroundings when I'm wearing glasses and miss subtle social cues with glasses on. Wearing contacts feels like I'm getting the whole wide screen HD experience. The only problem is that I get dry, red eyes using contacts and also, people always think that/ask if I'm on drugs. So it's usually more comfortable for me to wear glasses throughout the day.

Awesome video as always :D Usually the hardest thing for me is finding glasses that are big enough to be comfortable. I have a bulbous head, my old favorite pair of glasses were my Ocean Pacific Sunglasses, one of the very few pairs I was able to find that had excellent UV protection, had the sleek sporty look and fit very nicely. A close friend of mine gifted me a pair of Steve Madden sunglasses that have become my new favorite. They are a little more stylized square frame sunglasses which I never thought I'd like but these frames fit the best I've ever felt. So I gave my old OP glasses to my dad so he'd have a nice protective pair since he was very frugal and anything over $20 was too much for glasses. I do end up with the luxury of trying a lot more frames than most but per usual, 80-90% of the time they're too small for me however it is fun to see and try all the different lens types.

I recently ordered a nice clear acetate frame with 1.61 high-index photochromic blue blocking + UV blocking lenses from Zenni with a super hydrophobic anti-reflective coating for $85. The lens material they use is from MitSui Chemicals and seems to be a modified version of the MR-8 material with an exceptionally high Abbe value similar to Trivex, while having a high index and decent impact resistance. These lenses seem super high-end compared to any other glasses, let alone cheap ones. If I'm not mistaken, the blue blocking and UV blocking is built into the lens material itself, and the super hydrophobic anti-reflective coating is included for free. The lenses were only $40 and they charged $12 extra to process my strong prescription. All in, I got 10% off and free shipping. Exceptional price for something with all the bells and whistles. It may not be EssilorLuxottica name brand, but its still fantastic. Another thing I like about Zenni is that they offer engraving on most of their products for super cheap, and free engraving for rewards members. Nothing feels more satisfying than having your name printed on prescription glasses. Oh and I forgot...they threw in a free premium folding hard case because I bought Kittles collaboration frames.

I was a fan, but after my 4th or 5th pair I’m done. Every single pair had a coating flaking off with the first year or so. Obviously not something they corrected or stopped recommending. The flaking distorted my vision, and too much of an inconvenience to stop in or mail for new lenses that will do the same thing. Assortment got boring & basic pretty fast. My last two pair of glasses have been from Warby Parker and I can confirm that the coating does seem to wear out over time. Not sure if that's because I use antibacterial soap to clean the lenses, or because I had cleaned them using hot water in the shower (I don't do this anymore), or because I rub on the lenses too harshly using a microfiber cloth. Or it could be due to a lower quality coating causing it to fade over time.

I asked my eye doctor once and she said its not harmful. Thoughts? I'm 25 and my eyesight hasnt worsened in like 10 years.

I've never heard of this brand, but will def check-it-out, but frames sound a bit pricey for 'middle-of-the-road' frames. As for me, I am a bit more limited as to where I can get online glasses as I require horizontal [In] prisms. Both Payne & Zenni offer this at a slight extra charge. Honestly, I'm pretty well sure the blunt of all my future eyewear will be rather limited to polarised sunglasses or both Cx/Rx colourblind Pilestone ones, as the special lens I require ['E'-lens] is specific to blue/yellow CVD, as I am the more rare tritanomaly colourblind. [And I can het this w/ my current Rx added in the lenses no problem at all.]

Zenni optical eyeglasses are made in DanYangCity, China (丹阳). They have a very high turnover of employees because they have No Respect for them. The factory is in China while the American owner with his Chinese wife lives in California, so the Top management office is also in California. Note that the Chinese factory is owned by Zenni. You can check the company info from their website. The Lenses are NOT manufactured by Zenni But sourced from other factories . The Free polycarbonate 1.57 Index Lenses actually costs the factory only $1 a pair to procure. (I'm Chinese. My best friend and roommate used to Work for Zenni China for over 7 years) Zenni always Does Penny-pinching by short-Changing their employees. No annual bonus During Spring Festival , if they do, they only give a $15 Gift certificate . What a joke 😂

I have used warby Parker for about 4 years and I love specially when my prescription increases every year so I don’t have to spend that much money every year on glasses and I can use that extra cash on contacts.

Nice video! Are you wearing wide or medium fit Gillian?

I think Medium

Meh, nice color but way too big frame, I think. Also, Dr. you probably had to type your PD when ordering the glasses, but was there any option to type in your fitting height, or do they set it at the center of the frame?
@dongshengdi7733 жыл бұрын
if you are ordering single Vision Lenses , then yes , they Set it at the Center of the vertical axis. But NOT the horizontal axis, That's why they need your PD pupil distance to determine that. Your PD will NEVER change forever. Once you have it, you should never forget it .

I’ve had the same Welty style WP frames since 2016! They are the best glasses! Unfortunately they stopped refilling new rx on your old frames. Their lenses are better than Drs office.

I want to love WP glasses, especially since I need a narrow frame and want a clear plastic frame. They have those. I have returned my pair already, though. Something about them make me dizzy and sick. I have been wearing glasses my entire life. I have some good pairs from eyebuydirect with the exact same prescription and I am totally fine, great vision. Likewise, I have a retail pair (by Polo) and they are perfect as well. Not sure what is going in here. Triple checked everything.

I think one of the main things that I consider when buying anything is sustainably and social responsibility which Warby Parker is excellent at. Plus being a quarter of the price doesn't hurt either.

The coating peels from improper cleaning. You rinse them, wash them with dish soap, and pat them dry.

My first priority is whether the company is an in-network provider for my vision insurance. Although Warby Parker accepts most vision insurance plans, they may not be an in-network provider which means the customer will pay more out of pocket for glasses/contact lenses.

They do have a 1.74 high-index lens as well, but I think they only recommend it when your prescription is beyond a certain strength. I bought one pair from them 3 years ago. Overall, my experience was great. The antiglare coating did end up starting to peel in the third year but my prescription changed by then anyway.

I’d like a video on crossed eyes. In my mid-70s, and after cataract surgery, I suddenly developed crossed eyes and of course, surgery probably isn’t recommended , or approved by Medicare. My eyes naturally converge ~18 inches in front of me. I have 7 (not sure the units) in each lens. They work, more or less…. Thoughts?

Hey Doctor eye health, what would be the next step up for eye companies to go to? Not particularly tied to any brand names but I do care about quality thin lenses for high prescriptions.

Essilor and zeiss are always reliable. Just be sure your optometrist offers you a variety of options so that you can feel comfortable about what you are getting

I'm shopping for a 2nd pair that I use just for computer use as my regular prescription is a progressive. So price is important since those progressives are already expensive, but also quality because I spend so much time in front of several large monitors. I'm hoping WP will be the ticket for this use. My optometrist though is against any online glasses but I think WP might be better than what he imagines. And $150 is a heck of a lot better than $400+.

You made a good choice with the Gillian’s. They look awesome on you! :)
@ackman39819 ай бұрын
I just did a quick cost total as if I was going to purchase them. And the cost is almost the same as the ones I am getting from my local optometrist. Not really see the benefits of not having much of a frame selection and being almost the same costs. And I can easily and often take them to the optometrist to have them adjusted, etc.
