I keep hearing people say “this is the worst since Willie Taggart.” No. This is worse. This FSU team is averaging 13.7 ppg vs BC, GT, Memphis, Cal and SMU (not Clemson, UF, Bama, etc.). When Willie was fired in 2018 for reference, his offense averaged 21.9 ppg…Willie’s offense is a full touchdown and 2 point conversion better than the current one. We went from the best team in the ACC to the laughing stock of the nation in 6 games. If Mike doesn’t fire a lot of these coaches this year (who also can’t recruit), then I’m not sure I’ll watch this team for a while. Loyalty only counts when the product is decent. I’m an FSU alumni and I’ve been watching for 30 years. This is the worst team I’ve ever seen FSU put on a field

Isn't it sad how week after week all of the apologists come out and say "if this would have happened or if this call or that play went our way" etc.....and they are talking about how we "might" have won against a bunch of .500 teams? Like you, I've been watching and cheering for FSU since they whipped UM in the big house in '91, and I can't recall when a team has looked worse from the top and on so many fundamental levels. I don't blame the players at all, other than the ones that are just out there going through the motions, but even that is on the coaches. You see a guy out there that isn't giving the team all that he has? Get him out of there. Recruiting, coaching, development, practices, play-calling.....when you are 1-4 vs the schedule we have, is there any question that you are failing in every one of these categories? Bobby got escorted out when he started to lose 3-4 games a year and "only" signed a few 5-stars, etc...Jimbo, well, he was a winner and a lot of messy stuff went on and FSU basically showed him the door....and now we have this. Lighting-in-a-bottle last year (I warned people we really weren't that good but most ignored me) but now the truth can't be denied. This program is derailed and it hasn't hit rock bottom yet. If Bobby at 7-6 wasn't good enough, or Jimbo at 10 wins, what are we doing here? Nothing personal against any staff or players, I wish them all success in life, but if we are talking about football, and building a top program, changes must be made.

They said 6-6 wasn't good enough at FSU, but 3-6, 5-7, 1-11, or 2-10 is amazing. 5-7 got the man an extension after the 21' season. How did that work? In Mike, we trust remember all that bull now he has us as fans the laughing stock of college football and everyone now needs to understand how good a quarterback Jordan was at FSU. Understand something when Norvell was at Memphis he wasn't playing the level of competition consistently every year like we do at FSU, and with this staff that can't recruit or develop players, they recruit it's not gonna get better this year or any other year for that matter because Norvell can't get out of his own way and that's the facts of the matter.

I've suspected for a long time Norvel was not a good coach for this FSU team. He lacks toughness and grit and his team is a mirror reflection of him. He skated by these past few years with a good record but if your look closely most of the wins of the past few years were not dominating wins. I am not sure where FSU goes from here but I have zero confidence in Norvel and his staff getting this team to perform at a high level.

DJ is highlighted here because he is the QB so that is easy. I knew what he was at Clemson. But the WR core, bad, TE, bad, O-line bad, Defense, bad. This is a coaching issue and a team that does not believe. Guys it is hard to come and compete when week in and out when you are constantly bending told how bad you are. Morale is low and Norvell has lost this team. He lost them by continuing to start DJ. You have to know and read your team. They don’t respond to DJ and the team knows they have no chance of winning with him. The second interception of homeboy’s face epitomized the season.

We do well when we have QBs that actually show heart and passion when in-game. In general, this team looks like it has gave up with the exception of a few guys. I even think our defense gave up on our offense late game. Even in the beginning of the game, say what you want about the refs but we got a way with calls that usually would have been flagged by most refs. For instance, our DB slowed the heck down of a WR down field and our DB didn't even look back at the ball. 80% of the time in that scenario if the DB doesn't look back, that's a flag

I say the same thing every game. It feels like we don't practice at all. I think we just got lucky with the portal last year. We actually were able to grab some good talent. This year was just a bad portal evaluation mixed with a lack of team development. This is Mike's 5th year, and there are no developmental pieces to showcase. Not one! At this point, you can't be mad at the players for not being good. The coaches eye for talent is what brought them here. Now, after getting them here, they can't develop them. And to put the cherry on top, the play calling is abysmal.

No it's not impossible, he would be entitled to roughly 85% of the remainder of his contract. For a program that can generate 95-100 million a year the cost of NOT firing him is far greater, as that revenue impacts the entire University Athletic Department's budget.

Norvell's comp was and is inline...that he's proven he can't handle coaching at this level is entirely an different matter 3) FSU can afford to fire Mike Norvell and likely will at the end of the season, barring a massive win streak, which no sane adult would expect.

They are not going to be able to pay out Norvell and his staff, they still are paying out Slick Willie and then pay the amount required for a top level coach to come in. There are funds going to the new athletic facility also. That money isn’t coming out of nowhere. He will get another season to show he can turn it around but probably will be on a short leash. He will fire most of his staff after this season to buy him that is xtra year. And yes, his agent tricked them. It’s ok to admit it. It’s not his job to concoct the idea that Bama is serious in wanting Norvell when that was never a reality. He got Norvell an u justified raise under a false premise. It’s unethical and if u think it’s ok then that shows ur ethics and morals as a person. This is why one agent can’t be allowed to represent so many clients in a conference or sport. You can't take just any fat guy and call him an offensive lineman. When DBs are trying to cover receivers they have to turn their head around to locate the ball otherwise they're just escorting the player to the end zone. When someone is running toward the end zone they can't just stand there and wait for the back to run into their arms. Bad evaluation, bad development. Sometimes coaching just won't get it done.

Mike reminds me of Justin Fuentes who also came from Memphis to coach VT. He wasn’t much of a recruiter but had initial success due to a good QB. But, basically, he was just an average coach coming from G5.

If you worry about players confidence level then your head is in the wrong place. You have 60-70 players. There’s 22 that want to compete, want to make a difference and want to work hard. Find those 22. You won’t find them if you play the same group of young men that have not played well. Bench players, allow others to step up. Basic football coaching.

FINALLY. Corey is starting to come around to see what I've been saying. This is not a well-coached team, that is clear as day. The only real difference at this point between Norvell and Taggart is that Norvell was able to sell his vision and string together something special. But it took the perfect mixture of players, the perfect QB, and some really good luck. Taggart never got that lucky. Otherwise, there is really no difference in evident football IQ between "lethal simplicity" and "CLIMB" and "work" guy. It was Mike Norvell who lost to Jacksonville State. It's been (and still is) Mike Norvell who makes buffoonish 4th down decisions and destroys his own team's momentum (there are too many to list, but you know the ones I'm talking about) Until he proves otherwise, Norvell is NOT a good football coach because all evidence shows who and what he is. He's reckless. He's regularly out-coached. He coaches like he's playing Tecmo Bowl, and his strategy relies WAY TOO MUCH ON HOPE: Hoping his guys will execute, hoping his 3 schools in 3 years QB is magically going to put it all together (because his other transfer QBs have worked out so well), and until he shows otherwise, he's clearlly out of his depth at FSU. If you're honest with yourself, you saw the signs last year. That team was just so well-put-together that they could make lemonade out of lemons and literally will themselves to all those wins, but that team, despite going undefeated, didn't pass the eye test. You know it. I know it. The college football playoff committee knew it too.

This definitely is not only the worst fsu team in history, but they might be the worst team in college football period. I don’t think fsu could beat a high school team at this point. And as always in college football, when the team has a losing season, it starts at the top. The fireing of, head coach Mike Norvell, fireing the offensive and defensive coordinators. Get rid of the weak players, and bring in new proven talent… fsu stinks on all phases and levels. Time to start over.

Sir, you are correct. In fact there's is a very real possibility that he will not make it to the end of the season. Booster's will not allow another "Jimbo." A broken coach can and does years worth of damage. Whatever the actual problem (problems) is with Norvell, it will not be tolerated much longer. If Mike Alford does not step in this week (behind closed doors) then the heat on Norvell will rise to the AD's office. Best guess is Alford will make it clear to Norvell that he either makes the change at QB or he can call real estate agent.

This is a rudderless ship. Poor discipline in every phase. QB not effective and one of the worst runners I have ever seen. Lines are terrible. Secondary gets gassed. Receivers can catch the ball. In college ball you have to build the team through recruiting and then you fill the holes with the portal. Now recruits are decommiting, the players that they have are already starting filling out their portal paperwork. Norvell got lucky with a great group of portal players who decided to stay for 2 years. Just thought he could do it again. DJ is just non chalant. He is going through the motions. Rather than put his head down and go for it, or leave the ground, he basically laid down when it was not there. Every player knows that this is heading to 3 - 9 and are planning where they are going to play next year. Think this year bad, watch out for 2025, going to be bad. But OC needs to go, but if Norvell calling the single wing plays, you need the athlete at QB to call that system.

I think Morlock hates Norvell and is trying to get him fired. It’s the only logical explanation for how bad his plays have hurt this team. And the guy that got the facemask, I can honestly say I don’t think I’ve ever seen that called prior to the punt. That had to be intentional just to get him fired. DJU has to be doing this on purpose. This is intentional because there is no possible way the play on the field can be this bad unless it’s on purpose…………. I’m going to need my tinfoil hat to figure this out.

I really don’t know how to comment at this point. Norvell appears to have to toughen up and be a leader in hard seas. As for Brock or Luke, my only guess is that Mike knows they’ll get killed by this line. The D just rolling over was stunning. Play the young ones and let them grow. I lived in Tallahassee for 4 years. Grew up in NC and loved the Bowden teams of the 90s. I've never seen a program separate with their best player ever. FSU should have taken a look at Deion.

Just watching the game you can see the players and coaching staff just out of on didn’t want to play or coach. Walking - and not a care in the world. Norvel was the only who seemed to be their mentally and physically.
