@@spartannole71 Norvell only prospered because he had Jordan Travis. As I stated on another comment, The O Line was always trash. They just been together for a long time. So that’s on atkins. Mike built a game plan around J Travis’s scrambling ability. They had 2 good alpha receivers and a good running back that could make an offense threatening all because J Travs scrambling. Once they left, Mike went after Cam Ward first because he was similar to J Trav. Cam Ward knew that O line was garbage and FSU pitch to him didn’t work, so Miami convinced him to join them and you see how that’s playing out. Mike can only coach qbs that can get out of trouble with their legs. But if you don’t have some dogs on the O line, you can’t do anything at all. Especially with a QB that’s slower than Peyton Manning.

Because he was a good coach at Memphis and a good coach up until this year. He has made 2 big mistakes, and went with DJ and has no back up plan. If you added a better quarterback, they probably are 3-2. Not great but not crazy bad like they are now, and no one is calling him a horrible coach. It's easy to pile on a bad start, But I'm not gonna jump ship on him. Was anyone calling him horrible when he was 13-0? Coaches don't suddenly start sucking, usually. While it's no fun this year, I have seen florida state continually get better every season until this one. He walked into a complete s show when he got here. His Memphis teams were better than FSU when he got here. If he has another bad year or two, then maybe it's time, But i'm not.I'm going to give up on him for 1 bad season. And before anyone says the first two seasons were horrible, I don't think anybody could have salvaged anything out of those.

The difference is there's no accountability, Jordan Travis did a press conference every week when he was quarterback, have you seen DJ do one press conference after a game where he sucked it up? and the longer you didn't see accountability from DJ other players on the team realize that they can do what they want, and it's gotten worse every week. that is what's wrong with this team and the difference between last year and this year

Our lack of depth in our junior/senior class is really showing. Clearly this staff wasn’t able to recruit the first two years. We don’t have options besides freshman and sophmores. The majority of our upperclassmen are transfers. It’s a hard fix.

They built a game plan around J Trav and his scrambling because the o line is trash since last year. He had good receivers and a good running back. Once they left, it was a wrap. That’s why Mike wanted Cam Ward. But Cam ward knew that o line was trash. He didn’t wanna run for his life. That’s why Miami convinced him. Their o line is much better than FSU.

I think Norvell has put himself above the program in terms of how he feels he is more important than the school because of all the love that is always thrown his way, and it's bringing bad karma to the program in many ways most of the fans seems like they have become more fans of Norvell than actual fans of the school and it's tradition.

Norvell has been trying all season to figure out how to fix this. We're learning that the '23 season was an anomaly and after decades of decline, it will take longer to restore this program than any of us thought just prior to Jordan Travis' injury. Commentary and observations at this point in the season already seem like a post mortem for this team.

I think most of the kids that were on the team last year quit on football due to missing the Playoffs. Once you turn that passion off, I think it's really hard to turn back on. Just another reason to play the youngins..Sometimes the older guys genuinely look disinterested to be out there.

I see Michigan as an example of what to try. They benched the bad quarterback and changed their offense to a fairly simple, physical system to match what their new QB was good at. Is it pretty? No. Will they win another National Championship? Not this year. But are they winning the games they are supposed to? Yes!!! 8-4 or 9-3 is achievable. FSU needs to win 5 games. Make it simple for Brock, make it physical run game with some run/pass or play action. They have the potential to beat Duke, UNC, Charleston Southern, and Florida. Recruits need to see the game plan is flexible to fit their talents. Go Noles all the way from Geneva Switzerland!

FSU hired a Go5 Coach. He brought his Go5 coaching connections with him. FSU is now a Go5 team. Poor recruiting, poor fundamentals, poor scheming, poor execution. All because FSU hired a one trick pony coach. This is a long term fix. Too expensive to fire Mike, but he's going to have to change his staff entirely. Hire some known experienced coaches who can recruit, teach fundamentals and will talk him out of his dumb decisions. Hopefully hire his eventual replacement.

I don’t like saying this but Mike’s shortcomings have devalued the brand of FSU football (from a national perspective). High profile recruits turning you down (Hunter and Bolden) and blow out losses (even the UGA bowl game) associate your logo with undesirability and mediocrity. Bama has a strong brand bc that stuff doesn’t happen to them. You rarely see their logo next to a blow out and recruits aren’t throwing their hats on signing day

Atkins has to go at the end of the year. His O-line has gotten worse since 2022. Mike play calling needs to resemble 2022. He was great at drawing up a game plan & was unpredictable on 4th down. Even this year guys get schemed open but DJU can’t see the open WRs. DJU also can’t read defenses & check into the right play. Mike needs to play Brock & Luke & play call around their strengths like he did for Travis in 2022. Defensively why is Lundy out there when SMU is 5 wide. Fuller & Shannon need to go at the end of the year. Mike needs to get rid of the guys who put in half ass effort. I’m tired of watching 4-5th players on the O-line make freshman mistakes. They obviously can’t play so put in the young guys. Mike needs to bring in some good recruiters this offseason. Also Purdue fired their offensive coordinator so I don’t want to hear you can’t fire a coach midseason
