I know it's a meme but try ff14. There's slow paced world building at the start but it really gets amazing if you can make it through. I lived warcraft / starcraft / diablo and got burned so hard by caring about those stories when blizzard didn't. FF14 has payed off so hard and continues to do so, the writers forget nothing and care about everything. I get the feeling I was missing every time there's a new part to the story added and they've never let me down yet.

Also somehow the Alliance get to Kalimdor before the Horde? download it on Internet ! standard game can be downloaded like anywhere, any forum on the battle.net now. Even the Cybercafe can just install it through Internet
