Ahmad 357 like any of the factions in Omega were better than Kerrigan? Blizzard used to have writers with passion. 2010 was when Blizzard turned to a typical corporate hellhole, only money really matters, not the world's they make. They've stabilized a bit today, but their writers are absolutely shit compared to BW/TFT campaigns. Starcraft 2 has nothing on any other Blizzard RTS. Think about it. Their 3 bestselling games today (Hearthstone, HoTS and Overwatch) don't require any story. No writers needed. I'm afraid we'll never go back to those days what with Metzen retiring at the ripe old age of 42. In short, Blizzard will make another RTS as good as War3 as soon as Half-Life 3 comes out. They could probably do it today, just fucking make Warcraft IV already and make it centered around heroes/micro, it would defeat the tyranny that League has ruled with for almost 10 years now. But Blizzard would never take that risk today, when they could make just as much money from Overwatch.

He was a bad guy when he helped the legion originally (wayyyy before WC3 took place), then was a good guy when consuming the skull of gul'dan to mop up the legion in Reign of Chaos, then now again a "bad guy," because he was working for Kil'Jaeden, but only to save his life. Also, it wasn't a "bad thing" he was doing by using the eye of sargeras to take out the Lich King (or trying to). Arthas, on the other hand, was always unequivocally a bad dude. Even when he was a Paladin.

@@DrewHengy I'm going to be honest with you, I like Starcraft 2 more than 1. I personally think it's worldbuilding is way better than 1. Better visuals and more immersive cutscenes probably help.

Congrats on finishing this. This mission actually suffers an odd bug that occurs randomly. The bug being that after taking 3 of the Obelisks, Illidan will only continuously charge in on his own. Also, the HelmOfValor from Kael's base is a +4 strength / +4 agility item, and the SpellShield from Vashj's base is great for this level, because it would occasionally block Illidan's annoying Mana Burn spell. Missed Secrets: - If you're quick enough to rush the Revenant guardians at the Obelisks Illidan goes to (it IS possible to do right off the bat), you can grab the BookOfTheDead, IceShard, and SobiMask drops before Illidan grabs them. He actually uses these items in the first engagement against him such as at the 22:45 mark. - There's a group of bears you sorta saw east of Vashj's base in the bottom right corner that drops a Khadgar'sGemOfHealth (+300 health) - To the west of the bottom Obelisk is a group of Tuskar/Bear creeps that drop a PendantOfMana (+250 mana).

Fun fact: That final cutscene there at the end of the level led MANY people to believe that Illidan was dead - however, it was always Blizzard's intent that Illidan survived that battle. They originally planned a longer fully CG cutscene that included that battle, but weren't able to do that. In that longer cutscene, it would have also shown Kael and Vashj recovering Illidan and taking him to safety. As for Legion, it's less that he's "still alive" as much as he's being brought back to life. Maiev, the spiteful b**** that she is, took his corpse and did something with it back at the Vault of the Wardens "so that Illidan's dark, lingering soul could suffer the rest of his eternal sentence". He's not gonna be too happy with us over the whole "we killed him" thing.

Following up on this a year later, the Illidan novel really explains a whole bunch. Kael'thas getting hit with the villain bat is obviously not changed, but he was rather visibly jumping off the slippery slope even during Warcraft 3 in following Illidan. As for Illidan, the way things work is that Demons can only be killed in the Twisting Nether. Killing them elsewhere just banishes their Demonic soul back to the Nether. Turns out, Illidan was enough of a Demon by the time we killed him for this to apply to HIM, too. So basically what's happening is that, with Maiev having taken his body with her to imprison it, he'll somehow be returning his soul to his body. Also, it turns out he wasn't QUITE hit with the villain bat - Burning Crusade's writing was a bit of a mess, but the Illidan novel really saved a lot of it, partially by simply saying that we, the Alliance and Horde, got duped into thinking Illidan was attacking us at all. He was COMPLETELY IGNORING us until we started messing with his stuff. Vashj was being Vashj and doing her own thing, Illidan was focused entirely on his own projects. It did retcon it a bit though, by removing the whole "Illidan's insane now" thing - there was none of the ranting about "I won the fight against Arthas!" that we saw in Shadowmoon Valley group quests. He was still being a dick, his plan with Vashj was indeed to control the inhabitants of Outland by controlling the water supply, but his goal was to fight the Legion, not us.

For next project, I think going back and doing the warcraft 3 demo missions 3,4 and 5, which are in the costume campaigns in the Frozen Throne!

If there was something I'd change about this playthrough, I would have attacked as many ice revenants at the Obelisks as possible to take the items. If Illidan gets to them, he will take the items and use them against you. Then rush Vashj's base. On Hard mode, Illidan reads what units you build and builds the Naga counter to it. So if you mass Frost Wyrms, Illidan will have tons of Couatl, if mass Gargoyles, expect lots of Snap dragons, etc. In addition, the Northern obelisk base is much harder to defeat on Hard mode. They have at least 4 Royal Guards defending it.

Congratulations for finishing the three main campaigns of Warcraft III ! One piece of advice about dropped items: When you select the "treasure chest" that represents the dropped item, it shows a shortened description of it. You can, at the very least, see a preview of the stat increases of said item. That should help save some time in the upcoming Durotar RPG campaign, as you're going to have to replace items constantly there.

Yeah, the entire idea that there always needs to be a Lich King is pretty retarded. The reason the Scourge managed to do so much was exactly BECAUSE it had logistic power, smart minds leading their troops. If you get a mindless horde of undead they won't rampage and kill everyone in a matter of days, they would get destroyed by anyone smart enough to lead an army. If there's no one controlling them they're no better than animals. They become predictable, follow patterns, being mindless they will fall to traps and strategies that they might have avoided with someone smart leading. By saying that the Scourge would be absolutely unstoppable without someone to give orders not only are you saying that for some reason a lack of teamwork in a TEAM is better than teamwork at all (brilliant logic right there), but you are also pretty much downplaying EVERYTHING Arthas did, when it would've been a circus ride if they would just let them loose. And let's not forget the fact that, actually, the Lich King weakening WAS the thing that freed the Forsaken from his will. As in, without the Lich King the Scourge doesn't become unstoppable, they actually become FREE, and regain their souls and memories of their past lives. They won't just go kill everyone.

Honestly when I played WoW I didn't try to get to the current end game content, instead I worked my way to max lvl enjoying the story weaved by the local quest lines. If I ended up wanting to do a story based raid I'd stick to the earlier expansions, where my over leveling made the instance much easier.

JayborinoPlays If you want to do a Warcraft 3 Custom Campaign, I suggest you do Curse of the Forsaken. That is one of the best campaigns out there.

+DariusVlad Seconded - perhaps the Blood Elf campaign by the same person, too. Be warned though, they both get balls-hard at times, but it's a GOOD hard. They're basically a sort of author's own version of Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King, but it's basically... BC & Wrath if WoW had never happened, if that makes sense? Follows the same basic major plot points, though it's the author telling his own version of it. They're both really pretty cool.

+Chris I say the same thing to myself after I finish recording missions... they're such cool units and I do tend to struggle with incapacitating the enemy reinforcing with more units as I attack them, which the Frost Wyrms are perfect for.

Hey, Jayborino maybe after you finish hand of humanaty campaign you shoud try Enslavers Redux. I know you finish Enslavers but this is better than the old one. You got heroes(with more abilites) and is harder.Also you got more misions. I can't finish on normal... I can't imagine how is on hard :) .
