Humans and orcs clash in this feature-film adaptation of the popular fantasy video-game series. Oscaka 007 it was supposed to be a balance between equipment and training, against strength, and raw aggression. The orcs wore armor and in Warcraft 1 used 2-handed axes, while the humans wore heavier armor (or at least a more complete suit) and used shields with arming swords. They were supposed to be evenly matched.

Alexander the Great phalanx would crashed Orcs.... Humans should used more spears and shorter swords like gladius, agents Orcs. Thay are big like gorillas but they have no armor and military tactics at all. Human army in this movie is more equip to fight other humans.

Why the gladius? That blade is pathetic in the world of blades. The phalanx wouldnt hold against the orc horde, trust me they'd just outmanuever it. Phalanxes could only really go forward and had a hardtime turning.

Orcs are big and strong but that is not much of the use again well organized army like Rome had. Phalanx you placed in the middle with horses on the flanks. But in this world thay could use phalanx like swiss army had because thay have advanced armor in the warcraft universe. Google it swiss army from 15th century I think. Best tactics and army against heavy cavalry at the time and very useful against infantry.

@@davornovosel2018 alright thats where you are wrong. Romans struggled hard against visigoths, huns, carthage, and many other places. The Gladius is pathetic when it comes to range and versatility. Romans were chewed up by any ranged unit and are very overdramsticised in movies and the such. Romans fell apart so fast its insane. They mainly lasted so long and conquered due to their armor at the time which even then Romans lost a LOT of battles. As for the swiss, no. Just no. The phalanx you are thinking of would be the "spear walls". The phalanx is very immobile and against the orcs of warcraft you want mobility. Especially when they bust out the wolf riders.

The Alliance did not exist yet. That didn't happen until the 2nd War, when the Humans, (Blood) Elves, Gnomes and Dwarves formed an Alliance. This was 'Orcs vs Humans' :)

White Irena Blood elves were more or less the elves after arthas ruined their homeland and destroyed the sunwell. Cut off from their source of magic, they turned to illidan and fel magic as opposed to the arcane. Noted by green eyes as opposed to blue and it was more or less a rebranding after the addiction to magic and the alliance betraying them came to pass. A very high percentage of the elves population died out with the scourge attack. even in game I think they've only recently started to really recover population wise.

@@zain6008 Which they used horribly. like I said in another comment, why charge when you have ranged superiority. form your men up in cohorts/centuries/companies, gunners in front. long spears and shields behind the gunners, let the enemy come. The gunners shooting in unity and with cohesion can ruin that charge. then when the enemy gets to close the gunners fall back behind the spearmen/pikemen, and brace for impact. or counter charge. mabye use it like a roman pilum, when the enemy is within charge distance everyone lets loose then draws their swords and charge the orcs whos entire front line just got massacred by a hail of bullets, orcs gonna be stumbling over the dead or atleast be slightly slowed by a bunch of orcs falling back into them as they die. then when the main orc force is fighting the infantry your cavalry come charging in from the flanks. Easy win. mabye.. ;P

John Smith That's very true. They respect bravery and fearlessness, no matter the odds, as one of the biggest forms of honor. A truly brave warrior like Lothar would have female Orcs, and not just half breed ones like Garona, interested in him as a mate even. Their species respects toughness and strength, but also will and courage. So anyone who shows all those traits, like the aforementioned Lothar, would earn and hold their respect.

Well, they already had a plan, for some of the White Wolf Clan of orcs to support the Humans, but they were betrayed and all the white wolf clan got wiped out. So the King had no choice but to proceed in doing a frontal assault, knowing that they will lose, but their priority was to free their people.

As a Warcraft fan the little nods were cool, but some of the decisions they did in this movie was bafflingly bad or short sighted. Warcraft 1 is one of the stories in WoW that ends on a really tragic and dark but important note that lorewise is still affecting the game. They had a chance here to tell an really engaging and dramatic story, not just for Warcraft fans but for many new people outside of the fandom if they followed the books. Almost all the scenes with the Orc's are good though atleast and considering this movie was in development hell for almost a decade I guess a mediocre movie is better than a dumpster fire.

Honestly i have so many criticisms about this movie. I am honestly just disappointed that they chose to not use game designs and fell they needes to redesign everything from scratch. If I saw one of those elven golems coming to life I would have loved it as it took me back to raiding in karazhan but no. I got a golem akin to a cheap "the thing" look a like.

To be fair, human's strength is magic, ingenuity and intelligence. Their magic was stunted by Medivh being corrupted and they had been taken bu surprise by the orcs and hadn't had time to create ways to fight the orcs effectively yet. But towards the end of the movie they start using gunpowder weapons extensively which shows them adapting to their new foe. I've only played Warcraft 3 but I assume that gyrocopters and steam tanks would be shown later on

TheFrostsabre to be honest medive tricked them,they left 10 legion to guard redridge another 10 to guard stormwind,5 to guard deadwind pass and brought 3 on dark portal,if they have listen lothar they would smash orcs. They were outnumbered.

I mean if we look at it from a tactical view there was a huge number of errors, from a real world military perspective. We know that their strengths are in magic, ranged combat, griffons, tactics etc... so if they had used the terrain to their advantage, created battle lines, funneled the enemy into gaps, used magic more effectively, and yes, brought more men, then they absolutely could have won easy. Even if just through overwhelming numbers. The more I think about it the more I agree with you actually. If that was 3 legions and they practically matched the orcs in numbers, imagine if they'd attacked with 10 or even 20 legions and attacked from all sides. One volley would have taken out a large portion of their force alone! Instead they only bring 3 legions, attack from one direction with no battle lines and engage a force in close quarter combat who's strength IS close quarter combat.

They had 85-caliber hand cannons that could shoot up to 79.8 yards and have strategically choses to put themselves into close quarters while bunching together so that in order for the guys behind them to shoot they have to wait for the guys in front to get out of the way. The humans made Great tactics for the orcs.

never dude, people shited on the movie to much. Only the asian audience was happy of it... People go watch every Dwayne Johnson action movie with muscle, car and gun but trashtalk a medieval fantasy movie... The genre is so rare and the visual of this one so unique it should have been encouraged... ps; sry broken english

Why are these guys complaining about Warcraft the movie? Remember that In Warcraft 3, there was only semi tactics and lack of strength In other factions. This Is Incredibly accurate for Warcraft since humans and orcs have differentiated health and damages back In Warcraft 3. No one can change what the lore says.
